I completely agree. So many people on social media are just going for it and hoping for the best. They can be really dangerous 😳 ☠️

@@ebenezercottagegarden True but (at least in europe where I'm from) you have to be either completrly blind or without taste buds to be poisoned by a Porcini lookalike. The only non-edible species that could somewhat be mistaken for it (bitter bolete) is extremely bitter and you'd have to eat a lot of it to actually be poisoned. I collected a lot the last few weeks - I live in the black forest in germany. We dry them and use them in sauces with pasta or in risotto. Very tasty! The statement is absolutely true for any kind of gilled mushroom though. Especially young white ones which could be confused for destroying angels or death caps. Btw we can also find wild morelles here, which are even more expesive when bought :D

You lucky man! With older porcini drying is a good idea if you’ve got a dehydrator. Hopefully they come back next year
