Hope you're having some good days here in Spain, Mary. Just a tip: If you want to record in some place, use the verb GRABARA instead of TOMAR. Here in Spain we used to use TOMAR to eat, drink, or taking some transportation : Taxi, metro, etc. GRABAR is used to 'Record with a electronic device'. About art and craftmanship, we use GRABAR as you use to engrave. Hope this will help! Nice pronunciation!

@cowieson
@cowieson 3 жыл бұрын
@@kenz2756 that’s not necessarily a reasonable assumption though. Granted, many native English speakers (and people with what you’d assume are English speakers’ surnames) aren’t known for speaking multiple languages but many do! Assuming the worst scenario isn’t a great way to approach conversation on the internet, I’d argue. The same goes for the very concept of the “simp”. Criticising people for making positive comments is bizarre to me. Ok, if it’s being sycophantic then I can see how it’s a bit tiresome, but calling someone a simp is just as tiresome in my opinion. (I realise you didn’t call anyone that and I understand where you were coming from on that point - the concept just irks me!)

@@pyrofromtf2944 I've been to guitar stores in Canada and Japan before. I think I understand your feeling a bit. I can speak English quite ... ok ... and my Japanese is close to non-existence (after a year of 6 hours a week course.). That's probably helps when I have to interact with the store staff. I only converse with them in English though, even when I'm in stores in Japan. Talking with staffs using non-native language make me nervous the most, but after playing a few note, those feeling are gone. I'd avoid playing songs that people in the store would recognize though. Just doesn't want to attract people lol. I love JPOP music and listen to quite often, but I feel kinda bad to play Japanese songs in Japan. Not that those songs are bad, but again I wouldn't be able to communicate properly when someone comes and talk to me in Japanese. Not that people will come to me when I play some weird Japanese song though. PS. I've got two guitar from those countries, one each.

I didn't see any musical instrument stores when I was in Barcelona, but they do have a museum of musical instruments with a lovely collection of lutes and early guitars. Well worth seeing. By the way, the tube tester with the handle and red case is an American-made Hickok, looks like a model 600 or 6000. Probably quite rare in Spain as I don't think they ever made them for the export market and it probably requires a separate step up transformer in order to run it on 240 V. I do with Mary had spent more time in the shop, and that her camera had lingered longer and steadier on the amps, guitars and other equipment.

Plenty of musical instrument stores in Barcelona, almost in every neighborhood there are several of them. Beautiful stores indeed. The museum you are talking about is gorgeous, located next to the Auditori and above the ESMUC. By the entrance used to be a piano, slightly out of tune, and everybody was allowed to play it. Unfortunately and due to Covid there's no piano anymore.

Only three days in Spain and you already know what a "C" with an "I" or an "E" is pronounced in Castilian Spanish? I'm really impressed. Most non-spanish speakers pronounce it like "Gra-see-as" (even in South America where Spanish is their mother tongue) , but you said "Gra-thi-as" ("th" like in "thin" or "think"). Not only that; the rest of the Spanish you spoke in this video was fantastic! Believe me: almost nobody makes that effort, not even after years living here. About your guitar playing, what can I say? Awesome! You put so much feeling into it, I have to work on my fingerstyle rhythmic playing and try to play like you do. I just subscribed! Thank you for your videos!

Hi Mary, It was great to see you there!. I own a Ruano amp. One Vox style, hand-wired amp, that kills My two Rock or my fender bassman from 65 and many others... It's a pity that you hadn't tried one. Most professional musicians in that part of Spain use them. All Handmade, with top-quality components. Pancho Ruano, besides being a top craftsman, is a great jazz musician. (double bass). BTW, You missed the top of the shop and their Sendin handmade guitars. ✌️
