There's so much emphasis on weightloss - ppl forget that weight gain can sometimes be tremendously empowering. I've needed to gain weight twice in my life. Both times it made me feel much better.

@Trinity M I definitely agree that ppl who are not medically obese are encouraged to be slimmer. And I tend to think the categories presented by medicine recommend a rather slim bodyweight. What they call obese category 1 is imo merely overweight for example. And what they call normal is more on the slender side. I think there needs to be a limit to weight gain but being a little curvier is often a good thing so long as the person is eating quality food.

@@rozb554 the issue is no one should be just fat that extra weight is supposed to be muscle and fat my boy was 230 pounds 5’10 and kept trying to lose weight and eat less I told him he’s a dumbass and he’s going to make himself skinny fat you have to put on muscle not focus on burning fat he’s 170 pounds now but he has no muscle and just flabby skin I told him he should’ve stayed 200 and worked on building muscle now he looks skinny fat

Y'know, when I first read this, I was like..riiight?! But then I thought..I got very sick last year and went from about 125+- 👇 to 94lbs. Sick, not on purpose. I knew how unhealthy I felt, but watching it come back on is, I don't wanna say surprising..but..it's a feeling I don't know how to explain ig. Keep in mind back in the day I suffered from an ED, so that's always in the back of my mind..

That only works for people with restrictive eating patterns. For me that’s terrible advice!! If I feel like eating but I’m not actually hungry, I should NOT eat.

Sometimes I eat when I’m not hungry but most of the time I actually feel hungry and have this insatiable appetite that can’t be curbed unless I eat a big meal out somewhere. Idk if it’s my metabolism or what but I literally will eat a meal and still feel hungry even though I know I shouldn’t but I do in these episodes. And it’ll last for weeks sometimes… idk what it is but if it’s anything to do with my metabolism it’s not helping me loose any weight…

Keep it up! Often times there's fluctuations in weight when you lose fat, you can gain muscle. Let's say in one month you lose 5lbs of fat and gain 1lb of muscle, so a net of 4lbs lost. What you'll find over time is the muscle you gain helps increase your testing metabolic rate. And your fat loss will accelerate over time. Just stay consistent and besides using a scale, seek out a way to check body fat and lean mass %. So keep at it, you can do it if you stay consistent!

Don’t weigh yourself every day, only once a week. Weight fluctuates wildly throughout the week from water retention or loss

​​@@Mars21681 yesss that makes so much sense. I love over 70 pounds and I do some daily exercises, I honestly can tell in so many ways how much faster my metabolism is. Like I eat a lot sometimes but still wake up not bloated. The only food habit I basically completely threw out was drinking sugary drinks. Otherwise I eat some of the same stuff. Exercise really helps with weight loss! And drinking water, I believe those things are what most boosted my metabolism

@Trinity M you have no idea what you’re saying everyone should have more muscle than their body naturally has that’s doesn’t mean you have to keep gaining weight but if I didn’t bulk or workout I’d be 140 pounds….. I’m naturally skinny so of course I’m going to put on more weight I don’t wanna be a damn twig I’m 155 pounds now and I feel 1000000% better I used to struggle picking people up now stronger than ever

​@Trinity M I'll disagree with you, I think people muscle wise should aim for the highest amount naturally possible. Since that will be a bigger help the older you get, the more muscle and strength you'll still have. Which helps prevent injuries and when you get even older, prevent old people from breaking their hips, back and etc. as often. It will also keep you healthier for longer, since you'll be able to do more at an age, where others cant even do half of what you can.

I have been down that road before, after going through a hard state in my life, I lost a lot of weight unconditionally, after that I tried to gain weight, one thing I got from this is that weight gain is very tricky, you start to eat more so you gain the weight and then you end up having a bit of a belly (depends on your body type) just like Rihanna said “You want to have a butt then you have a gut” I mean I got my curves but it also had it’s sequences of being scared that I might lose my bear body shape or hourglasses IDK. Just saying, be careful when it comes to weight gain and know the limit cuz now I am trying to lose the weight.

This is exactly how I felt when I read the scales after 14 days on my weight loss!! I’m now on my 21st day and it has been a struggle, but noticing that I’m actually doing something is such a boost in confidence for me after years of struggling with my weight and constant unhealthy weight gain + eating habits. I’m still a long way to go from my goal but once I reach it I’m planning to start trying to bulk up some muscle, which would be another struggle to see my weight rising again after trying to cope with it for so long, but everything’s a process!

I did the same thing and I can honestly tell you: just keep going. You might gain more weight than your normal size is (the size your body wants to be), but that’s completely normal. It goes down after a couple of months. If you don’t know the book, you have to read “the fuck it diet” by Caroline dooner ❤️ no restriction will give your body the possibility to heal ❤️

i guess im on the same boat. its media influence though. before i always wanted to gain weight, my heaviest was 48kg 5'1 f. but lifespan and aging propaganda taught about eating less for autophagy and the benefits of fasting so i kinda accepted my skinny figure. however, these past months i think ive been in caloric deficit because i believe fasting is good for longevity yet idk.. my body is kinda out of whack. i dont have hunger hormones and i only get cold hands and feet whenever i think im low on energy. still im deep on worry though. im observing the rythym of my body and im confused. i eat consciously, out of habit because if i let my hunger appear, idk when lol.

Just be very careful of not falling into the same trap many lifters fall into: We love the strength gains, so we keep eating. Then all of a sudden, either through injury, sickness, or just life in general, we stop lifting but never reel our diets back in, and before we know it, we're only marginally stronger than when we started but we're 30 pounds overweight. I've seen this happen. I've had this happen. You don't want this.

It took me eight years to recover from Anna and see food as neutral. I went from hating my body and being very thin, to being lean but not 'shredded' and seeing my body as a way to experience the world, that I wanted to keep relatively healthy, without obsessing. I have a lot of loose skin because of my previous starvation and some health issues still, but I have more energy than I did in my twenties and hate myself less. Thank you for sharing this. It is so important for people to see. Especially with all the judgement around ed stuff rn

omg ive been needing to gain weight, i’ve been trying to eat more and exercise the right way but sometimes it feels like i’m not doing enough, idk why sometimes there’s literally no change for weeks. i wish i could share this with people around me, but i know most people would feel annoyed especially since being “skinny” is ideal, it just makes it seem attention seeking but it really makes me insecure inside. you really inspired me to keep going

We’re in the same boat 🫡 im currently 105, ive struggled my entire life to eat food and gain weight. Eating was like a chore and im happy to say the gym has changed my life. Although i still havent seen physical change, I can finally say I eat 3 meals a day!! It feels like death everytime i step on the scale and gain weight yet I receive more compliments everyday telling me I look so pretty. I cannot believe them but I'm trying. 💖 to anyone going through this truest no one cares about your weight except you.

I have gained some weight and lost some body fat so 1 and half inches came off so glad about that as im not fond of weight gain. Have to add some muscle as im underweight.

I lost 50lbs now I miss my lower half stuggling to gain weight back, never realized I should’ve appreciated having an appetite and desire to eat. My mom gets me in trouble every time she sees me 😬

Not only can gaining weight be necessary for some people and healthy, but also really difficult. I’ve struggled from an eating disorder for a while and I’m nudging through to gaining weight. As a very tall female I look skinny very easily in general. With a fast metabolism and not the best relationship with food, this is hard and yes empowering. For all struggling, please don’t give up
