I tried it a couple days ago, but stopped half way up the steps, so didnt make it even to Sealy Tarns. Was stopping for a breather every 15-20 steps (mean they are). Could have managed that but was worried about balance on those steep climbs, and knees (age 73). So headed down ... gingerly. LUCKY I did retreat, because I realised the sole of one of my old boots was half off, and the other coming away. Tied it in place with the laces (should always carry small roll of duct tape) and continued on. If I had continued and the sole fully parted...would have been a very awkard return. Heading to the Kepler track in couple days .. weather looks perfect. (Will stop to buy new boots). Thnking again, would have been very awkard if I was wearing the old boots and the soles decided to come off some way along the Kepler. (Will carry some duct tape as well).
