William Nylander has been absolutely tearing up the league to start the 2023-2024 NHL season. We'll talk his season and the Toronto Maple Leafs vs the Minnesota Wild in the Global Series in Sweden!

Nylander was outstanding last year and when he gets the puck he always seems to make things happen. He has speed, he can , pass, shoot, make moves, and he is an all round intelligent player.

@@hockey_highlights_and_moreI also dig how Nylander skates. He skates well with zero radius and has fluid movement. But what I like best is his first and second stride and how he looks to be skating down hill. He is deceptively quick as well as relatively strong as he skates. Actually, I hate him for everything I just said. I’m a big time Flyers fan so I hate everyone, including the Flyers at times.

As someone that was screaming to get rid of him three years ago, I knew he was capable of this too. The problem was, it didn’t show. So many times in the past where he would just coast through the neutral zone with the puck, instead of keeping his feet moving and attacking. Glad to see he’s kicked that habit, and getting down low to win battles on the boards.

Nylander is the best and more skilled Maple Leaf (yes, way more talented than Matthews)! - Nylander is faster and better skater than Matthews and creates more play for his team... in contrast Matthews is only a good shooter (highly overrated and overpaid) who depends substantially on the talent of the 1st line (Marner, Riley; both overpaid by the way)... Nylander doesn't depend on anyone and plays as a 2nd liner which less talent surrounding him which makes him even better! - for all this Nylander deserves more $ than Matthews!

You are right about Nylander being streaky. Most of this is due to an inconsistent work ethic which many leaf fans and non leaf fans have criticized (especially when it comes to being a team player in the defensive zone). Despite this I have always been a Nylander fan. He seems to always show up and produce when he is needed, especially when the other stars on his team are lacking. I think he has really put the right foot forward in starting this season, and is reaping the rewards of his effort. Looking forward to more from him!

We may see his production fall off from this pace a bit, but I don't think were gonna see him go cold. This isn't a scenario where he's getting the bounces, or the puck is finding him, or thing are just going his way. He is creating all of it. Unless we see him regress to his 1/2 hearted floater type play that he has shown in the past, there won't be any slow down here. There will be a slowdown from the top 3 VAN players. A team that is overachieving with a trio that is overachieving. I don't think we'll see them fall flat, but that cloud is going to come back down to Earth any time now.

Leafs fan. Im not sure if he gets top 10 in points since last year you needed over 100 to be in the top 10 i think and eventually he is gonna cool down a little bit. I do think 100 points is of course possible he only needs 70iah points in over 60 games remaining. So it is doable. Top 20 for sure.

Question is will the Fans pardon Brad T when the inevitable comes and Willy gets traded for not that much at the deadline cause he's way too expensive for the Leafs now and cannot bring as valuable a return as what he's worth due to his UFA status end of this very season... im thinking this is true too last year i couldn't stand watching nylander play, it was so infuriating. knowing how good he can be, but watching him float around never moving his legs was maddening. i kept saying to tell that guy the water is frozen, he doesn't need to keep floating around of course now he is hot as hell, on a contract year when he is playing to his potential, but as soon as that paper is signed you'll see floaty-mic-no-stride take over again i swear it. this is a big problem with the leafs in general, they do not set the pace. they play to their opponents pace. if they set their pace and played their game, there wouldn't be many teams that could keep up. but they do not leave it all on the ice, which is why they'll continue to never go anywhere in the playoffs
