Was it $7,500 well spent or a total waste of time and money? Can I ever make it back with this machine? Drop your answer below 👇👇👇

How about a great politician style answer? "That depends." I'd say in my mostly inexperienced opinion that a few jobs per year running buried electric/plumbing/telco-internet service a few hundred feet out to a barn workshop from a main house or aerial right of way would make you very, very glad you have this beast. I'm sure you have friends who would throw you a few bucks to rent it from you for their jobs as well.

5/2/24. Ok JL, Hello from New Orleans area (~70° 2day); so just finished watching you rebuild of that (big) DitchWitch (model 40?). What a struggle you took on! Everything was busted & worn out.. but your persistence won out! Congradulations! Agree engine sounds kinda rough, carb air leak, timing a bit off a few degrees, coil intermittant, distributor (points/condensor) old...yup, you do have a 'punch list' to checkout. Loved seeing your wife help out & little boy (cute & sweet & temperment re: noise/vibration) supervising your work flow! Ok, bring us back after 'punch list' & show us how this 'big dog' trenches, augers slugh away & also how well yur front blade pushes...& covers over trenched dirt for a beautiful finish....oh yes, do get some funnels to pour that oil & fuel...no more making a mess on that garage floor! Stay safe & carry on!🔧⚙️🔩⛓️🪝🍺😊..also enjoy watching your rescue of Buldozers...just like Diesel Creek...guess you guys drink the same🍷🍷😁

Pretty sure you have the chain bar on upside down and the ends are swapped. The idler sprocket goes on top near the drive end instead of on the bottom near the driven end. The back of the chain should ride on the flat side of the bar and press against the dirt. That’s why the safety bar sits so far away from the chain right now. It’s that high to make room for the idler at the drive end. You’ll find out first time you try to trench with it. Keep up the good work

To line up sheaves like that, I like to use a laser pointer. Hold the round body of the laser pointer in one of the grooves and sweep it across the opposite groove. Makes it simple to line them up. The sheaves are often not exactly the same or have a bevil on one side so makes the straightedge method problematic to get it just right.

Never press/pound a bearing on a shaft using the outer race…always the inner race. When you put that tube over the shaft to hammer the bearing on, it was on the outer race. With such, the force/shock is transferred from the outer race, through the rollers, and then to the inner race. It can imprint the rollers into the race and basically ruin a new bearing. Sane principle with pulling. Basic rule…never transfer the axial force to install or remove through the rollers…only on the races directly.(unless the bearings wont be reused). Glad to see you still taking on cool projects. Keep it up!

Those blades are awesome! I had a similar cylinder on my dovetail trailer that raises a ramp to the upper deck and the top pin was seized in there. I used a blade to cut both sides of the pin to be able to put a new cylinder on. I previously used one blade to demo all the cast iron pipe on my bathroom remodel at the suggestion of the guy at the plumbing supply. In the past a cast iron diamond blade would barely make it thru one cut.

Plug wires. I like to have more separation. Those are long runs, and I don't care how good the wire it is it will induce voltage into each other. Search zip tie sparkplug to get an idea how to accomplish better separation. Personally I'd shorten the wires too. Give the points a once over. I'm about 95% sure you have a carb issue. Make sure that float bowl setting isn't too high. The plugs you pulled out were indicative of a rich condition. You will get it sorted out. You will break even on your first job or two. So you will be just fine.

Your Coil could possibly be the wrong size or just weak. My VH4D required a different Coil after I had installed the per Tronix electronic ign system on the motor. I bought the Flame Thrower 3 ohm Coil on it, also made by Per Tronix. Model # 40511. Bought mine at Amazon. In super ❄️🥶 MN winters it has always started right up and ran like a Demon 😈, a good Demon .. Wouldn't hurt to locate a new Rotor as yours could be going bad. Nice job too. Instead of using tranny fluid I suggest using synthetic gear oil. I used the synthetic gear oil in my gear box on a CASE 1537 uni-loader/Skid Steer which in colder weather flows awesome. Never had any issues with hot weather or leakage. I did rebuild the gearbox and replace all seals. The cost for synthetic gear oil is crazy but that's life. I have also mixed both tranny fluid and normal gear oil with good results but in the winter it still seemed to be thicker and that's when I switched to synthetic oil. Hope this idea helps you out. I'd suggest flushing the gear box first!!! 😊. Thanks for the Video.

43:44 A couple of methods to remove the pin. Obviously a press would have helped but in the absence of that you need to drill through the centre to relieve the pressure. Alternative is an air hammer. Finally I would have sit the end of the cylinder in diesel over night before pounding on it.

Today I watched a little more. We follow at speed x1.5. Everything you post is cool. Maybe if it's faster.

It looks like the boom is on backwards. It seems like the underside sprocket should be closer to where the chain meets the ground

Tyler, what kind of paint sprayer do you use? I'm impressed with the tiny amount of overspray. At least that's what it looks like on video...

Just the middle of the road harbor freight one. It’s pretty fine and slow for equipment and enamel but it’s ok. It’s an auto body primer gun. You really just have to make sure the pressure and flow is proper. If you have the pressure too high it just blasts everywhere. High flow low pressure.
