Are these lookout jobs real? Why have them when you can put in a dozen cameras and have one person monitor the equivalent to 6 towers.

Was not expecting this at all. At first I thought it was a documentary of sorts of the narrator speaking. His life when he got the job but got totally sucked into his story and then realizing this is a storyteller channel. 🤦🏽‍♂️ well told, well written. It got me listening and really involved. Good job.

@@daviddaddy yea it's interesting, but if we're talking about doing the job in real life, then supernatural part isn't really relevant because it's not real, like you're gonna get out there and go "where's the skinwalkers?" cuz there's just gonna be bugs lol.

@@thekamotodragon I read the book "Been down so long it looks like up to me" (1971 I think?). A free spirit, young guy, really wanted to escape to new reality as fire watch. Really looking forward to it. Next book starts, something like, "I became a fire watch and never have I regretted anything so much." It was mind-breakingly dull, it seems. @@MrSiestaFiesta It ain't as deep as you think. It's creepier you automatically assume creepy intentions. Fantasizing is normal and it's not automatically something sexual. This is literally what most people do with faceless content creators whose voice and personality they like. They build their own idea of who they are and what they look like, then people often become disillusioned after a face reveal.

Some break immersion by reading names aloud at the end, others verbally do sponsored ads even tho i pay for youtube premium, theres one who has sharp high notes at the end so i always wake up but you sir have perfected it! When I clicked to watch this video, it was because I was interested in a peek into the life of a Fire Lookout. The part of the title about "Station 5 Has a Strange List of Rules", seemed a little click baity, but I pressed on. I should note that I hadn't noticed the name of the channel. As situations were described, I thought about how I'd handle them. With the safe, I'd open it immediately to ensure I have a valid combination and to inventory its contents. With the supplies containers, after the first disappearance incident, I'd either reposition the containers themselves, or I'd start shuttle unloading them without losing visual contact until they were empty. Then I'd repeat the shuttle movement with the offloaded piles/stacks of supplies. The story continued normally for a few more minutes. . .and then things started to get weird, so I paid closer attention. Eventually I realized that this was a fictional story and that I should sit back and enjoy the ride. After the video concluded, I noticed the name of the channel. 😏 Fun story. Well written and narrated. Thanks for posting. I think I'll view some more of your videos. 😀

Thank you LH, I was 2 seconds from adding that I love your rules and ranger stories on your most recent story (that one was awesome), noticed you had a ranger story I missed. I feel like this one needs some analysis though, because the MC is driving me crazy: He didn't investigate the other drop boxes of supplies, he said he only had space for one , to carry in his arms or backpack? He's given a random set of supplies and not asked what he needs, wth. After the first drop, when he noticed the other 2 boxes were missing, I'd have grabbed some rope, then lit the flare, tied the 3 boxes together and dragged them back with me (to hell with only taking 1 box of supplies). This sounds like an experiment in mentally surviving Groundhog's Day, and by agreeing to go back to the experiment with the comment of: the only way to get answers is to go back is nonsense. The video he saw of an older version of himself, proves he's been in the experiment longer then he realized and they had purged those memories. He'll never get answers looking into the microscope the wrong way, kind of like Jim Carrey in The Truman Show. If he was happy to be there in the solitude, like Burt Gummer in Tremors, that's cool, but not if he's feeling scared about going back to the ranger station, is a new level of insanity. I'd have taken the money and gone back to my normal life with real people in reality and been left with the feeling I escaped the Void / The Twilight Zone.

If i've learned anything watching people play exploration video games, it's that even when the landmarks are crystal clear, the areas tiny, and even when they get a FRIGGIN MAP, most people still can't orient themselves AT ALL for the life of them without having a literal GPS. Hell, even that sometimes isn't enough. I truly don't get it. Now in a massive forest which the sense of scale is just not even a comparison? Yeah people are gonna get lost. Many wars in history have been won due to superior terrain familiarity. The land is merciless to the careless. That being said there's a lot of other reasons why someone could meet an untimely end while hiking. And besides there are a lot of factors that impact land navigation, including weather, seasons, time of the day and more.

The guy i spoke to on the walkie-talkie was a good guy. He was new too and we helped each other. He kinda freaked out though and told me the week prior we had to leave. He told me i couldnt handle the isolation and his mind was playing tricks on him. I'd listen to creepy pastas and everything it didnt bother me. Until he left then my paranoia kicked in. The boss told me id have to watch a wider area and it would be a few weeks before his replacement came. For 2 weeks i felt so alone, so scared on a night. One night i could swear i was seeing things. So i left too and left the boss with 2 empty towers. Hey dont judge, unless you've been there. The minds a powerful thing.

I would never judge, I truly believe a person has to be very brave to be a fire lookout, not to mention the wildfires that r prevented plus everything else the job entails... walking through the forest at night, frightening no doubt...and to do this with little to no human contact is heroic, we r creatures that need others, when we r alone it's very uncomfortable and scary... I personally commend your courageousness no matter how long you did the job for, the difference between the judges and you is you actually did it...

Wow. This is so cool. I've always liked your voice and am used to the older vids. The editing and visuals added to this one are a great touch.

This time loop thing is super scary. Happened to me once when I had too much weed. My guess is that I had anterograde amnesia. Basically, my hippocampi couldn't work, and I couldn't make sense of time, things that just happened seems as they happened before many many times before.

Whenever I listen to fire tower stories, I find myself thinking of Ranger Gord from The Red Green show, and how we'd all be absolutely doomed if the main character was even slightly as incompetent. Was outside watching my boy play in the pool, wondering why I felt weird, when I saw that there was a new Lighthouse Horror story. Now I'm in bed with a fever, wondering what the heck is wrong with me, and using this breakdown in my plans to listen while it's new. Been a while since I caught one less than a week old.
