You do realize that Japan follows quite a lot of Chinese religious and cultural practices (including Buddhism, Daoism / Taoism, and more), correct- whether or not they've been integrated into Japanese systems through Syncretism or not? Due to Chinese influence in the region? Because they're literally only separated by a very tiny stretch of Ocean? And there are historical references of interaction of the two countries as far back as the 50's ad (and that's just RECORDED historical interaction) ???????

What people need to understand is that the high level of manipulation is built gradually, she’s slowly being drawn into a parallel universe, little by little as she accepts one unusual thing after the other, then she becomes inclined to accept something that she would never have accepted in the first moment. And abusers are expert, they just don’t do this kind of thing to anyone, they target the emotionally vulnerable.

It's like that famous analogy about boiling a frog - if you throw a frog into a pot of boiling water, they're obviously going to jump right back out. But if you put a frog in a pot of cold water, and then slowly turn up the temperature, they get used to the rising temperature gradually and by the time it's boiling, it's too late.

No matter where or what the cult is, there's always 3 things involved: Power, Money, and Sex. You have to allow the cult leader to have power over you and (make you) do things, give them (control of) your money, and have sex with them. Always the same, and people never stop falling for it.

Manipulators or advertisers need to manipulate people with 3E: empowerment (the lowest denominator for males), emotion (the lowest denominator for females), and economics (the lowest denominator for adults). Humans are much more complex than 3E. However, manipulators only have to manipulate enough people to break even, just like advertisers only have to have enough customers to purchase their products.

the cults don't target everyone. They target people with particular personalities and self-beliefs, and they recruit carefully in a long process. Essentially, by the time they tell you you're accepted you will already have accepted them and gone in too deep. In fact they make you wait and long for formal admission. I have a relative in a cultish religious thing and we (all other relatives) have been unable to convince him that their thing is a cult and pure hogwash. It's similar to devout alcoholism or some kind of mind manipulation over there.

I don't feel bad for anyone who falls "victim" to cults. Unless they have some deficits in their mental capacity, it's a choice. You dont have to pay money for spiritual activation and enlightenment. 😂

I will say this, I have a friend whose friends with someone who was in a cult. It wasn’t extreme as this one, but for what she told me it was a cult. She was with the cult for 10 years and when she started, she came from a pretty affluent family and the cult pretty much took all of her money when she first got there. My friend told me one day she literally just woke up and said to herself “Oh my God I’m in a cult.” They were fine with her leaving. They basically gave her $10 in a bus ticket and wished her good luck. But for this woman’s story, I’m just at a loss for words that when she’s telling the story, it’s pretty obvious she was in a cult, and the fact that the cult decided who she was supposed to have sex with. Made it extra creepy. I was absolutely horrified when she was talking about that in the documentary.I’m just at a loss that no red flags went off in her head
