In fact, forcing interest when you've lost it is the asshole thing to do, sometimes shit happens and people lose what they once felt towards someone and it is completely normal. Cheating is a shithead thing to do, but you cant say that losing feelings is since a lot of the time, it can get very difficult for one of the people in the relationship to even acknowledge that they are losing feelings. There is no such thing as a "test run", nobody (except some heartless people) goes into a relationship with the intent of using somebody else as a test run, its just that the relationship they got into turned out not to be the one they would wanna remain in, nobody knows what they wants until they experience it, and we all find that with different people. sometimes we choose the right person and so did they, but other times its just doesn't work out with one or both sides and that's the sad reality of it .

Extra anecdotal proof: gf of 3 years cheated on me, she told me it was a one time thing and after about a month without contact, we slowly started talking again and eventually after a few months we became "friends" again. stayed that way for about another 3 months and it was great until I found out she had been sleeping with that guy regularly since we broke up, lied to again. I allowed myself to be broken, again. my ex and the guy she cheated on me with also got together shortly after. don't be friends with your exes. But, to end on a high note, me and my ex's parents had a great relationship and they were pretty devastated we broke up. I never told them the real reason we broke up (I assume my ex just told them it wasn't working out or some shit). When I found out my ex and that guy got together, I couldn't resist telling her parents (esp. her mom) the real reason and that she was dating that guy she cheated on me with. she went on to become a major pain in their relationship, eventually causing them to break up because it just couldn't be. guess who won now, bitch? >:)

Here’s my advice: Think of EVERY bad relationship scenarios to ever occur, and keep those scenarios in your mind. If you expect someone to cheat on you, then it should at least numb the emotional pain a bit. It may not help with the aftermath, but it will at least numb the pain while it happens.
