I never had to ask in elementary school, but I had to ask in high school which confused the fuck out of me. Had my parents come to school on multiple occasions, which was a little annoying for my dad because he lived in a different city. But he did defend me every time. "If he needs to pee, let him pee. Or are you going to clean him up? Don't give me the 'He's old enough to clean up after himself'. Clearly he's not old enough to go to the restroom for a quick piss according to y'all."

I’m legitimately shocked that we have confused ourselves so much that we don’t understand that being able to use the restroom whenever we want should be a basic human right. For the “land of freedom”, not having control over such rudimentary human needs should be a big deal.
