A little late to the party since it was recommended by the almighty algorithm, decided to give it a watch. Honestly I don't think you were neither scammed or unlucky. Well maybe a bit unlucky. I feel that what you missed is research or information from other people. Around 10 - 15-ish years is the mark where pretty much everything on a car starts to fail slowly, especially mechanical parts and undercarriage. Considering snow, then there's typically also salt involved, which makes everything rust, so more failures and earlier. The last key part is that you should always look at what something cost new to know how much it costs to repair rather than the market value. The more expensive the car, the more complex and expensive the parts and repairs + every additional piece of complexity (comfort) introduces points of failure.

Former E90 driver here - from 2010 until 2014... I know the feeling when you sit infront of the mechanic and he is calculating the bill for the actual repair :D:D and i had heart attacks when i saw the invoices.... My E90 had similar issues back than (not that many - but also a lot...) But i loved the car :-) In "Montegoblau".. After that i bought a factory new VW Golf - with 11km - but it was boring somehow (bought a VW because i was so pissed of BMW and VW had a promotion back than where they gave you extra discount when you bought a VW and sold them your old car :D But i had to "go back to BMW" because i still love the brand and all their cars - with more luck than (was driving a F30 after the VW and now a G31 with only small / minor issues *knocking on wood*).. Currently its running just fine :D (its out of warranty since last month ...)

the average bmw buying experience... bmw's are great, we've had many over the years going back to the 1972 E12 from my grand grand dad, e30 m3, 740d, 525d, 335i, 520d, 2024 m2 etc. and we've had some problems especially the 335i n54 from my gradma. But when they work they are realy lovely. However the bills can become expensive with old bmw's. hopefully as my new german cars age they will be fine 🤞

The previous owner lied to you. There's no way in hell they weren't aware of at least most of those issues. Even if it's a private seller, they are liable for the condition of the product they sold you and if they are aware of existing issues, they have to disclose these unless they want to be liable. Probably had an accident or was massively neglected in terms of service.

well if u buy something private and take a debt for a car like bmw, this is not smart or something, It just straight dumb. Never ever buy a car private even if it's proven safe or something. I just would buy a golf 6 which is a smooth car tbh. and it cost less headache.
