Why don’t you use external NVME storage, which is much cheaper, much faster, much easier to manage. even if you upgrade your laptop later, you will be able to use the same storage over again also, you will be able to plug out your nvme drive and plug it in to a Mac studio or other MacBook. God forbid, something happens to your laptop with 8 TB of internal drive, you will not lose all your data.

How fast is NVME external compared with internal SSD?
@sumeetdeshmukh12453 ай бұрын
If you purchase a 40 gbps Enclosure and Good NVME then speeds are actually very good. Their are videos available on this topic.

Got an Apple certified refurbished M1 Max 10-core/32-core 64GB RAM 4TB SSD for $2,800 taxes included. Still comes with 1 year warranty. Where did you get your’s from?

SSD read write speeds on my M1 Max around 6000Mb/s. pretty damn good. 32 core GPU is far more then enough for me

I have an M1 and an M3 Max, for most things, they are identical for all intents and purposes. The Max comes in handy when I need to deploy code to 1,000 servers, doing 100 simultaneously, the M1 chokes with this, it's also nice, but certainly not a must when editing video, exports are faster. But really, I still use my M1 Mini when I'm too lazy to clam shell my M3 Max, tells you something eh? I also bought an M1 12.9" iPad Pro recently for 1/3 of the price of an M4 one, 1/3, that's just insane. Sure the new one is thinner and sexier, but barely.

Exactlyyy. I’m not deploying any code so these newer models aren’t really noticeably effecting my workflow lol

Yea seriously why would anyone need more than M1 for an iPad since the OS is shit

M1 16inch MBP is pretty great if you dont want to splurge on a 16in M3 MBP. I wish they had 16in MBP without the crazy spec and price bump

Lol bruh, 8TB is at the level where it's overkill. You really shouldn't be storing that much data on your Macbook. If your Macbook fails, that's 8TB down the drain. Yeah, you could backup with Time Machine, but then you're gonna need like a 20TB drive, or better yet a NAS. I think 2TB is a good sweet spot, and then just archive the file you're not currently working on into a NAS.

I got m3 pro recently but I also run a Windows PC as a server and I got a 32 x 9” display so I can use both at the same time that thing will now render my videos while I’m working on the Windows PC

I rather have my files in separate hard drives instead of all in the same basket.

Defffff have copies of everything important like client work, documents, etc. I’ll never have the whole 8TB filled with things like that.. more just like raw footage so I can work on them locally. Then once I complete the projects I’ll delete all of it. And even if I somehow lost the raw footage, it still exists in the SD card.

Is it worth it to buy used macbok pro?

For me it definitely was. Just be careful where you get it from.. make sure it’s not damaged

Uhh… 8TB. What about Backups? 😳I would be a bit nervous having that amount of data on one device 😬
@tecctruth3 ай бұрын
Im already knowing haha. I’ll never keep a whole 8TB of data on it but it’s just good to have head room. Like when I dump 4k 120fps wedding footage from 4 different cameras on my computer I can just edit and complete the film locally and then I back it up to cloud, SDD & HDD.
@Kbp4K3 ай бұрын
you should return the M1 Max because the M4 is about to come out and the m4 pro will probably be faster then the M1 Max
