Slim, you never cease to amaze me. I have never seen a more determined, intelligent, hard-working man than you. My eyes were glued to the screen as I watched this video. I have to say, I was on the edge of my seat watching you struggle. You always come up with some ingenious way to get the job done. What an incredible man you are. Much respect. Absolutely phenomenal video. Please stay safe! I love your little cabin and everything you've done to it.

I put anti strike stickers on my windows. Living in the forest I had birds flying into my windows on a weekly basis. Broke my heart. That was over 2 years ago, and I haven't had one bird fly into my windows since. Thank goodness. 🐦

I love the fireflies too, I thought they were only located in the south of USA though, sure surprised me seeing them up in northern territories like Canada. Flish flash, well how about that, natures Christmas lights a glow, take a picture.

I've seen them in the Ottawa/Gatineau area as well as northern Manitoba.

The firefly segment was unlike anything I have seen before. Also it must be real nice to have a yard covered in deer salad. Nothing wins their hearts quicker than a bowl of fresh greens. The addition looks well thought out and stout, not at all like those scenes in "The Unforgiven" where the sheriff is building his own house. You've really nailed this one!
@loriegreene93756 ай бұрын
When I was a little girl living in Georgia, I loved when the firefly’s came out in the evening. I would put a few in a mason jar to enjoy them prior to letting them fly away into the night. I have never seen any here in South Florida. Could you believe that the bear walked right by the cabin? 🐻 What a great build!

Hello Slim , thanks for the great upload. It was very interesting watching you build your extension. The fireflies brought back memories of visiting my sister in Ohio in 1980 when she lived there , had never seen anything like them having flown over from Liverpool England. The area looks amazing with all the wildlife. I look forward to your next video , well done so far, and it looks sturdy.

Boy oh boy Slim, I wish I had been able pitch in to help on the roof. I've done a few jobs like that over the years and have most of the tools necessary to make it easier. Throw them in my RAM and I'll be there. I'm in northern NB and at 73 I can still swing a hammer and climb ladders. Great video😊

Reason for NB code requiring nailed in gusset plates is that the pressed in ones have a VERY low fire resistance and pop out within minutes when heated causing early collapse.

You did good building this little addition by yourself. One suggestion if you do something like this again. Sheet the walls before you stand them up. Little walls like this could be raised with one person. Usually laying your sheeting horizontal and staggering the joints is more structural but the end result is you got it done.

Your cabin remodel video''s have been my absolute favorite on your channel. Having said that, I also enjoy your traveling video's too. I'm hoping that one day this cabin will become a permanent home for you. I know in the last video you talked about certain things that have to happen, in order for this to become a permanent living space for you. That Black Bear was looking for Poo's stash of honey. I can tell he's a teen bear, because no adult bear is going to risk getting themselves shot within an human encampment.

At 24 I am really realizing how much faster and easier it would be to have another person help me with my projects. A few year ago I put up salvaged paneling that I mudded over to look like drywall in a cabin. Anyways one of the paneling ended up being on an angle with an inch gap on the seam. That wouldn’t have happened had I had someone else to hold it and check things. I filled it, then taped and mudded over it best I could, but it was a big reminder that help is well just that… very helpful 🤪😄

I enjoy these videos and can identify with your challenges as I am a five-foot tall woman and built my own home. I skidded the roof decking sheets up along 2x4x16 boards, using my 4-wheeler to do the hauling. It worked well and made it safe. There's always a way - as you have proven over and over.
