If a second stick was added, games would not suddenly gain functionality of the second stick, and for RPG's? How would another analogue stick help in an RPG? Are you thinking like if they added a second stick, all games would suddenly have a totally different controllable camera available like it's FFXV or something?

I have a few serious concerns before i buy. First, the simple one: does pressing dead center on the dpad make it register all four directions or otherwise lay flat, or does it have a decent rocker on the bottom this time around? The bigger issue is over Windows games wiping memory cards using third party controllers, the striker included. It's random when it happens, but it's a known issue since the launch of the system. Last time it happened to me was on a striker playing resident evil 2. This is something that takes extensive play testing, but i need to know before i bother with another striker. I don't know the exact cause of the issue or if it can be addressed in a firmware update, but if you'd be so kind as to test for it and share your results with the retro fighters team if and when it happens to you, maybe they can figure it out.

The other way they could have done it is to make it a true wireless Dreamcast controller - including the VMU socket. It's been done already using BT. They could have and should have too imo.

I actually think it's better to have the vmu slot in the dongle like they designed, much like how logitech did with their original xbox wireless controllers. I have the dreamconn wireless controllers and learned the hard way that there's a high risk of the save data on the vmu being corrupted when/if the BT connection is dropped.

This is going to be interesting. I am curious to see how the StrikerDC wireless controller and receiver compatibility would end up... I also saw that the StrikerDC Start button is also used to turn on the controller, and there's no separated Home and Start buttons, so that means Nintendo Switch, PS one, PS2 and Xbox support will be a no-no. However, there's a chance the wireless StrikerDC would work on the GameCube and Wii through the BladeGC and BattlerGC receivers. If that works, then it'll work on far less GameCube and Wii games. Good luck playing Capcom vs. SNK 2 with the arcade-style controls, as there's no right stick to perform easy specials and supers. Also, I have a feeling the wireless StrikerDC will be perfect for GameCube ports of Dreamcast games, especially with Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and Skies of Arcadia Legends.

Watching your vid and I am halfway through. Looks promising to me so far, since I have no game with important info on the VMU screen that'd be fine with me too. Seeing your Switch on camera made me realize this controller reminds me of the Switch Pro Controller. Not the worst thing in my books albeit I find the free space next to the D-PAD odd looking.

This awesome and all but the layout of the Dreamcast controller isn't special other than the VMU. If we haven;'t gotten to a point where the VMU is on the controller and bluetooth version, i would rather use the OEM or get the Blueretro adapter.

Really hope they release another version with a six button layout and Saturn Style Dpad like the official Dreamcast 6 button controller :/ Edit: exactly this controller, just a Disc Dpad, and another set of L and R buttons like the official 6 button controller. All they have to do is move the abxy a little down left to fit the l and r, and change the dpad button which is really just the plastic piece and shell hole Also maybe a bit more trigger distance, it looks too sensitive since there isn't as much travel,

Basically they can release a Genesis-style controller for the Dreamcast, but with a VMU slot in, the shoulder buttons out and the analog joystick out. The arcade stick for Dreamcast is pretty much a lever with XYZ/ABC buttons and a Start button, so imagine if Retro Fighters gave the arcade stick a Genesis-style controller makeover.

Hi, a slight side track but still about retro nostalgia; could you consider creating a tribute to the late and amazing Kevin Conroy? He passed away last year, and was the sole reason I got into acting. On MsMojo there was a video about the best voice acting in animate d movies and I think he should've been included for his role in Batman the Mask of Phantasm (the scene at the cementary). I have a VA background and there are some preconceived notions that it's not as demanding as regular acting; but the vocal training itself and perfecting the craft may take more time than any acting school. l feel like he's very underrated as Batman (ditto Mark Hamill as Joker) and even non existent in the conversation. PS. You almost saw me as Leon in those new Resident Evil games :)

Triggers still a let down, need more travel and less deadzone. Look like an improvement over the wired one which reached full input at about 50% travel and way to light action I've ordered one, just wish it had 6 face buttons and a saturn style dpad

I'm definitely getting these controllers. I bought the original DC retro fighters controllers and absolutely loved them. One thing I really disliked about the DC were the VMU's ability to drain the batteries. I just stopped changing them. Just hate the fact that the DC relies on the VMU to save the time and date.

I'm going to be using my 4 in one memory card which doesn't use batteries on this so luckily even if that battery issue with the cable remains it won't matter for me but they should definitely fix that. A lot of upside with this product so all around I'm happy.

I really love Retro Fighters wireless controllers, I currently have their N64, GameCube and 2 of their PlayStation ones (they sent me one for free which was also great of them) that I mainly use for my PS2. The only issues I've had are the triggers are way too sensitive (so I'm hoping they fixed this with this Dreamcast controller) and all the controllers are too light. Being a PS5 owner, I am used to the weight of a DualSense now, and they don't need to be that heavy but I do wish they'd beef them up a little bit.

Dude! Take the freakin batteries out of the VMU! The only time you might need them is to play a VMU game which these days most of us have seen , done and moved on... Save game copying is best done and more trust worthy on the TV screen while using your Dreamcast, you can see what your doing lol. As for checking game data like lap times, again do that from the game where you can see what your doing and may even have access to replays if you have saved any. The bats don't last long enough to make that option worth it's while, most loyal fans who know better stopped using them back in 1999. 😉👍

I'm STILL mad about that. 👎 When I backed the Kickstarter, it was marketed as a wireless PS2 controller. That was what I wanted. Adding their stupid PS3 compatibility is what ruined things, because it never should have had "triggers" to begin with.

Dreamcast racing games used analog shoulders for throttle and brake. "F355 Challenge", "Metropolis Street Racer", and "Tokyo Xtreme Racer" all did. I assume "Sega GT" did as well; but, I don't remember.

The controller is nice but it looks a lot like the Nintendo Switch pro controller I wish they would of made the controller a little more unique so when you looked at the controller you would think that this is a Dreamcast controller another thing I wish that they made a snap on port for the vmu so games you need the vmu you could have it to see the information from the games. I think they could have the vmu port with it's own battery to supply the vmu power and have a SD card slot on it for backup save data so if it doesn't transfer the data properly and after you are done playing the game just connect the vmu to transfer the save to the vmu.

The dpad looks exactly the same like the one that is on the original retro fighters dreamcast controller which is a turn off for me. I can't believe it is still smooth with no type of grip of tread and I seen no talking about that. I have 2 of the original retro fighters dreamcast controllers and the dpad is trash for fighting games. My thumb slides all over the place. I bought the controllers to play mvc2 which was a huge mistake. I don't want to go through that again because they are not cheap and I rather not waste my money. I wish that they would change this issue before release also provide a kit for purchase to upgrade the dpad for the original.

Finaly an Affordable Wireless Dreamcast Controller but why no VMU Port in the controller, couldn't they just put a high capacity battery in it or have the ability to have it plugged in and still operate when charging for the few games that actually need the VMU to play and not just be there for looks so for most of the games you could use it as a wireless controller. The Football games are about the only games you need to be able to see the VMU without your human opponent seeing it so you can make plays without him seeing what they are. It's ggo that they put the dongle on a cord so you could hang it from the Dreamcast to see vital info like health in Horror survival games, run and Gun Games and fighting / boxing games. nobody has done a demonstration of the Turbo Feature in any of the videos I've seen on this controller so far.

This isnt released yet, is a preproduction sample. And as I said it may be just a problem with the sample, which they let me know thats the case. The final version doesnt have that issue they said and I put an update in the pinned comment within minutes of the video going live.

The VMUs seem kind of gimmicky I think it would be much better if you had a full-on portable system and then you had some kind of cable you could plug into that that could interface with the console itself. The only difference between this idea and the Game boy to GameCube cable idea is that you'd have a special cartridge that you could save data on to rather than just interfacing with another game. Imagine a console pokémon game where you can put your pokémon onto some cartridge and then train them up when you're out and about and then when you come home you can plug them back into the GameCube game to get the super powerful pokémon.

It's funny how retro fighters who've been crowdfunded a ton of times past their start up cycle as a company for their products can't come up with a proper dreamcast controller with a vmu in the wireless controller and some dude in europe who makes bluetooth modded dreamcast controllers with no startup money is able to sync the vmu with the wireless controller like the original. Retro fighters are a bunch of 🤡 🤣

It appears not. Hopefully down the line they'll sell a dongle with a USB-A input for PCs and Androids. USB-A to Micro-B and A to C adapters, depending on what you need, are dirt cheap.
