I’ve had this with 2 cats. We changed to single ingredient wet food, rabbit in our case. Grain free kibble. We had both cats on Atopica, a cyclosporine for about 6 months. We were scared but it finally worked. Hope this info helps.

Thank you Linda, we’re going to put her on a special diet as our last ditch effort. He doesn’t think it’s food because of how she responds to the steroids but we just don’t know! 🤷🏼♀️

Cytopoint shots! I just read a bunch of people recommend this for chronic itching. My heart just breaks for her. My Sophie was always so itchy RIP baby girl. I hope y'all can find something to help. Sophie took hydroxyzine and melatonin with steroids. It was a weird combo but worked pretty well.

Awww, poor baby. She is so stinking cute. I feel so bad for you guys. All the things you make for them are so cute. I know I'm getting old but i remember when we never called or had calls when it was dinner time. Like from 5:30 til 6:30. And my mother never let us call people other than family on holidays. She said it was rude. And nobody would come to the door at dinner time. I never answer my door 😂 if i didn't know you were coming, i won't answer. My dogs will go crazy and i don't care. Lol anyway have a great Sunday i hope you get some sleep.

Right Barbara?!?! 6:00 is not the time to be soliciting or stopping by someone’s house that you haven’t made plans with already!!! After our run in with the crazy lady in Aldi’s last week it seems all I do is go off on folks! Haha! 🫣😵💫🗣️

Hey Gina! I have never liked corned beef hash! You can buy it in a can already cooked together, too. I love your fabric choices! Poor itchy baby! Do you think it’s her nerves? Bless her heart. And yours! Have a good week! ❤❤
@MsDreamcakes17 күн бұрын
I think her nerves played a part in what set her off, I’m sure it was very stressful for her to all of a sudden not only not have my mama anymore but to also not be in her home anymore either! 💔 I think between her nerves and I let them lay out in the yard one day and she got a flea and between those two things it set this nightmare in motion. The vet thinks she’s exposed to something here that she wasn’t exposed to in Arkansas. 🥰🥰🥰

Heyyy Lisa! I’ll have to look for some of that! I was taking magnesium a while back and it didn’t really help but there are several different kinds so maybe I wasn’t taking the right kind! I always need help pooping 😜 and I would like to stop taking Benedryl at night to sleep but I have to have something or I’ll never be able to stay asleep! 🥰🥰🥰

Gina, as i get older i cant sleep. We should be able to sleep when we get old , darn it !!!! My baby will be going back to the vet this week . Itching to death & red spots all over her. Now this is every month as soon as i put any kind of flea prevention on her. This is crazy. She is always miserable! I dont know what to do. There has to be some kind of meds for dogs now for itchy skin allergies. You would think. Let me know if your vet comes up with something That works. I'll do the same. Bless their hearts. 💞

They do have something called Apoquel (a pill) and Cytopoint (a shot) for itchy dogs that is supposed to work really well. We’ve done the cytopoint …it didn’t help. I’m going to ask for the Apoquel when we go back, I’ll keep you posted!!! They are so pitiful and it’s so hard not being able to help her without giving her the steroids that might push her into a far more serious condition (Cushing’s Disease). 💔

@MsDreamcakes Thank you, Gina.

What about the dog pills Aquopel… they are expensive but they work. You may have to get the first prescription from your vet but them you can order online..💋🧚🏻♀️❤️🇺🇸
@MsDreamcakes17 күн бұрын
We’ve done the cytopoint shots….its the same thing as apoquel just in shot form. It’s $100 per shot and we’ve done 2, but sadly it didn’t really help. I think this next visit I’m going to do another antibiotic shot but ask for the apoquel pills and maybe giving her a little every day instead of that big shot it will help more long term. I just don’t know girl, I’m at a loss and the vet said this last time that your dog didn’t read the school books because she’s not following anything I’ve been taught. He said he’s going to have to throw the towel in because he’s used everything in his bag of tricks! 🤷🏼♀️

I'm no vet but have you thought about the rash stuff in the baby aisle? Like oatmeal bath or whatever babies use. I'm not sure if that would help or not.
@MsDreamcakes17 күн бұрын
I haven’t tried the baby stuff but I ground up oatmeal and put it in her tub of bath water. We really have thrown everything but the kitchen sink at this…..the vet said he’s never dealt with another case like this. Normally the steroids don’t help if it’s a food allergy but they work crazy good for her which leads him to believe it’s environmental. But it should be getting better now that the allergens are dropping….she was as bad thru the winter as she was the rest of the year. I did take her off of chicken and beef for 2 months but he said maybe that wasn’t quite long enough so we are going to go on a diet food as a last resort. 🤷🏼♀️ If that doesn’t fix it she will have to do steroids and take our chances on it causing her to develop Cushing’s disease I believe.
@thelindaschuknecht17 күн бұрын
It is such a mystery for poor Abby. You all truly have tried anything. Just a crazy idea, but what if she stayed at your daughters for a week to see if she itches at her house, just to rule out an allergen at your house. It’s got to be so hard on everyone.
@MsDreamcakes17 күн бұрын
I’ve thought about that but I don’t really want to do that, I think the stress of her losing my mama and having to come live with me was a big part of what set this in motion so I don’t want to stress her out more by sending her to Kamren’s. We’re going to try food and if that’s not it we will have to consider seeing the specialist in Dallas. I haven’t gone that route just yet because he said that visit would start at $600 😵💫🫣😩

We actually did Atopica for about a week but I’m super scared of it because it’s an immunosuppressant. I know it might be silly but my mother (who Abby belonged to before she passed) had horrible Rehumatoid arthritis and was on Enbrel for that, Enbrel is an immunosuppressant and one of the warnings was it could cause lymphoma….my mom got lymphoma. So that’s why I’m so scared of giving her the Atopica but the vet has said that the prednisone is actually worse than the Atopica. So I don’t have a clue what to do or not do. We are going to put her on a special food as a last resort before I make my mind up to let her have long term steroids. I want to know I’ve done everything I can before I do that! Hopefully the food will make a difference in her too like it did your cats!!! 🥰
@kaygataki616317 күн бұрын
@@MsDreamcakes I completely respect your decision and I’m sorry for your experience. With all these immunosuppressive meds (steroids too), at first they often need high doses of a medication to control the issue, but after a time the vet can try lowering the dose for maintenance. My one cat has been on a low dose steroid all his life due to a permanent intestinal issue. He’s 19 years old now. I’m so hoping for a solution for both of you.

@@kaygataki6163Oh wow! He’s had steroids his whole life and is 19? Thats great to hear! I’m such a worrier, but I know if changing her food doesn’t help she has to have some relief and if that’s with steroids then that’s just what I’ll have to do!
