I will never understand people taking these 100$'s and even 1000$'s worth of putters, pulling the head cover, and just toss them in the bag like it's a Wilson wedge u found in the basement

Or the ole fratty “prank “ of the cart bag strap , for launch at go . Yeah , that hilarious prank will do some hideousness to an uncovered SC putter in the putter quick access slot on bag . Funny how that prank never happens when the covers are on . That’s some friend of a few decades “friend divorce “ lol ! Personally , I think had it not said SC and Ping drivers, there’s the issue of unadulterated “bag & sticks envy . Or more than likely straight up alcoholism , upon an already , extremely ridiculous person . No worries though , I have always like custom finishes on anything that still gets the job done . But other than my yarn , yeah , who does that to a club ? Pick up truck full of knuckle heads in the cab , bags in the bed . Cheers

I’m working on a Scotty Cameron TE I3 right now. I think the body is made of carbon steel, and has a black oxide finish. I want to remove the finish it has now so I can torch finish it, but I’m not sure how to remove the finish. Should I try bathing it in an acid.

This looks great! How durable is just the gun bluing after the penetrating oil without a protective coat on it? Does the darker color wear away the more you use the putter, mainly on the bottom where it would interact with the ground?
@scratchlessputters
@scratchlessputters Жыл бұрын
Good question! Yes like any finish if it’s not looked after it’ll wear away over time. You can make the finish last while oiling the sole mostly because like you said that’s where the where and tear is. If you don’t oil.. not that the finish will wear faster it’ll just be exposed to moisture and potentially lead to rust

Why would you not dunk the piece in the Blue rather than brush the Blue onto the piece?

Problem with Cold blue is it only looks dark and glossy if theres a thick layer of oil on it like you have on the end. Otherwise it's more dull and gray. I'm still looking for that glossy dark permanent finish.

The glass beads smooth out imperfections in the head. Depending on the type used, they give a very polished look. They also help prep the putter for when I do certain finishes.

I heat the head for about 5 min all over with a heat gun before torching, I find that it heats the putter up nicely so it changes color more uniform

No the finish is still prone to rust/wear and tear. Keeping the head dry or wiping it after rainy conditions will help on the rust front
