I was not expecting to tell you that I had another seizure so soon. 7 months after having surgery to remove my brain tumour I had a seizure.
I'm now going to start new anti-seizure medication and hopefully get booked in for my MRI soon 😊
This is my first health update in a few weeks so I just wanted to keep you in the loop 💛

My tumor was also on my temporal lobe so most of my seizures were partial seizures. My brain surgery was 9 years ago. Keppra made me angry/tired all the time. I've tried Dilantin, gabapentin, Lyrica, Klonopin, Ativan and Oxcarbazepine. Most of them didn't work or gave me bad side effects I switched to lamotrigine which was much better but I still had seizures like every 4 months. They put me on Briviact (which is similar to keppra but without the side effects) and since then, I've been seizure free for almost 2 years. Hope that helps. AND I've been cancer free for 9 years🙂

I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in 2022, breast cancer in 2023, and squamous cell carcinoma in 2024. Just recently I had my scan and they think one of the cancers (probably the breast cancer) has metastasized to my lungs. Having a lung biopsy next week. The things that get me through have been my neighbor Erin who has taken me to all my surgeries and chemo appointments, my primary doctor Ehren who has been so supportive, and watching your very upbeat videos. I am sensing a theme in who the kindest people are named.

I've been on Lamotrigine and had no side effects, hoping for the same for you! By the way, if you're nervous about the travel, consider booking special assistance at the airport. It's not just for the elderly or broken legs; if you think the cognitive overload of queuing/figuring out where you need to be will be overwhelming for you, definitely go for it. You could always cancel it last minute if you feel confident. Glad to see the bunny is doing so well!

I have been on Keppra for almost 17 years now and haven’t had any problems. But I have heard of other people who have had problems with it. I had brain surgery in October 2007. In 2008 I had brain surgery to insert a VP shunt then it malfunctioned and it was removed in 2008. I still have a tumor in one of my ventricles and get MRIs every 6 months. I will be praying that they find a medication that works. Thank you for the update! I’m glad you are now around your family. Also praying for your next MRI. I see my neurologist in a week and a half. I hope you continue to keep doing updates. I hope you get an MRI sooner rather than later to see what’s going on.

Bless you. My son had brain surgery 2 weeks ago. Initially diagnosed as Diffuse Midline Glioma by the radiologist, which was a pretty grim diagnosis. We traveled to MD Anderson in Houston, TX USA, and received a much better diagnosis. Two weeks after surgery he is doing well on his way to recovery. Just received the pathology of the pilocytic astrocytoma. Meet with the oncologist soon to determine the next steps. Can totally empathize with what you have and are going through, as we are in a similar spot.

Finally, a doctor taking your medical situation seriously. It’s shocking that Canadian doctors were so casual about your diagnosis. They should have been prioritizing you the minute they saw a brain tumor despite the long time the lab took to figure out what type of tumor you had. Canada should have sent your records to your new doctor before you left for Ireland and not leave all that for you to figure out. Both sets of doctors should have been working together to figure out the MRI problem too. Sadly, we all have to be our own medical advocates and you probably need a few advocates to get the right help you need. Be sure your oncologist specializes in Glioblastoma cancer. A good Glio group is important to join too. A group will help you find out what you might need, what to expect, etc. Praying for a quick recovery. I am looking forward to the Germany video and more travel content. I loved SlievecLeague. Cheers!

I had a single major seizure in August 2023 and have been following your channel for most of that time. Your postings have really been helpful. I had my seizure in a Home Depot. In the hospital they immediately put me on 1000 mg Keppra 2x per day. They did brain scans of all kinds and luckily found no tumors. Keppra made me miserable- drowsy, sleepy, grumpy, short term memory loss, no desire to do much of anything and I was only fully awake a few hours per day. In Florida you can't drive until you are seizure free for six months but I couldn't anyway on those high doses of Keppra. Finally in March my neurologist referred me to a seizure specialist and under his supervision I have been tapering off Keppra (currently 250 mg 2x per day) since March with no replacement medication. If I were to have another seizure I'll go on a different anti-seizure medication but in my case the chances are pretty good of not having another one. In the meantime, I'm feeling way better and resuming most activities again. My wife commented that it's like I've returned after being gone since August! I think your trying different anti-seizure medications is great. I hope you find one that works without the major side effects so you can live your life more fully. I wish you and your family the very best. God bless you.

I'm glad you're finally home and doing fun things. I can't even imagine how frightening it must be to feel a seizure starting when you're by yourself and unable to communicate. I would also recommend a medical alert bracelet. The spacial awareness problem sounds annoying but also a little dangerous. As far as feeling embarrassed, I'd tell you not to, but I know that isn't how that works. Back in 2019, I was diagnosed with a degenerative muscle disease. I'm 62 now, so this advice might be based on age. But I've decided not to be embarrassed about accidents that happen due to my illness, and I'm going to ask when I need help and use whatever assistive devices I need. I've also decided that I'm going to be assertive in getting what I need from the medical professionals. I'm not belligerent or mean, but I do speak up for myself. Life is too short to feel embarrassed about things you have no control over or to let pride keep you from asking for help and not to advocate for yourself when it comes to your health. I belong to a couple of Facebook groups dealing with my disease. I was astonished when people were talking about how many bones they'd broken from falls they'd had, and yet these same people weren't using canes or rollators! I was so concerned about breaking a leg, a hip, or an arm that I started using a rollator as soon as I started feeling a little unsteady. I'd rather look like a disabled old lady than be laid up in a nursing home or dead. Prior to my diagnosis, I'd already taken a couple of hard falls. Thankfully, I didn't break anything. All this to say, try not to get caught up in how things look like to other people. Do what's right for you and give yourself grace when accidents like the one that happened in the restaurant happen. Take care of yourself. I hope your trip to Germany is a lot of fun. Thank you for sharing your life with us. ❤

Hey Eireann, I hope you're doing really well. My mum is a Glioblastoma patient and so we can relate to MRI appointments not being sent on time. We have found that e-mailing the relevant department including your full name, hospital number/nhs number and date you require the appointment for always does the job. They always respond within a day or two and they are always able to book it in for you. It's worth noting we live in England but I hope this message helps you.

Jez Eirinn, you don’t need to apologise for not posting, you look after you. Please God the medication change will go smoothly and help you. The card idea you mentioned would be a good idea.. for your safety. You sound like you’ve got a lot going on at the moment, remember to rest as well. X

Your story of your seizure sounds so familiar to something I experienced. That feeling is so scary! I have POTs (chronic illness) and wear a medical ID bracelet since the incident, I’d highly recommend. Also, iPhone have a Medical ID section in the health app that a lot of emergency responders are trained to check! I wish you all the best 💕💕

So sorry to hear your struggles - you’re amazing - love your spirit - you can easily get a hold or silver disc on a necklace or bracelet and engrave the details you need on there - I have a severe latex allergy and that works well if not conscious ❤ sending you love

I love your videos. You are such a bright spirit! Love the Wee Bun! I suffered dramatic health issues 3 years ago, abdominal -- not head -- and had to quit a job I loved. And, it is possible my condition can come back in an emergency situation due to scar tissue. It is hard not knowing when your body might rebel against you! But, I will say that coming back from the hospital, I was so grateful for all that I have in life -- my husband, house, family, the ability to travel still. I know you feel that as well and that is all you need in this world. Oh, and the love of a good dog, of course. or 5 .....

Thanks for the update. I am sure, you'll be doing fine on the new meds, but of course understand the nervousness. Hopefully it will be a smooth cruise and you'll be able to go to that concert. Such a joy with music concerts, makes you feel alive and kickin.🙌🌸

Hi Eireann, Ontario Canada here. I'm sorry to hear you had another seizure hopefully the new tablets work great and the transition isn't too bad. I wanted to mention that you might want to be extra careful if you like to take baths since having a seizure while in the bath can be very dangerous. I don't want anything bad to happen to you so I thought I'd mention it. I'm so glad you're home and around your family as that can bring so much joy and comfort. Sending you all my love and wishing you brighter days and positive outcomes and results. XO

Regarding the concert, just want you to be aware of the sounds and lights, especially flashing lights that can trigger seizures! I do recommend wearing some ear buds that can help, especially if it gets too extremely loud at the concert. Better safe than sorry! 💕💕
