It hurts but 2 positives. 1) You made a healthy profit. 2) If you had bought just 10 boxes and 6 others each bought 10 boxes you would have had stiff competition on eBay, probably selling 10 boxes for just 50 dollars each. By buying all 70 boxes you removed the competition, leaving yourself a clear path to profit. Hopefully you didn’t have to pay for the trash to be removed :). These are the things we need to focus on. Thanks for being honorable as a seller. There are so many dirt bags on ebay with no ethics. I bought a NIB CO detector off ebay last year for a BIN of $35 I think it was. I know I should've researched the brand before buying it, but I messed up. A quick Google search showed that that particular model had been recalled by its maker because it didn't work right and sometimes didn't detect carbon monoxide. I wrote the seller a message explaining this. I even offered him $15 if he'd cancel the sale which he gladly accepted, and yep you guessed it. He instantly slapped it back on ebay for sale. I wrote him saying "an unsuspecting person may buy this for their family and they could literally die if it doesn't work." He didn't respond and left the item up for sale. Too many a-holes with no morals in this world.

I do not believe people are actually suggesting reviving these with hot water or eye drops. What would the labor cost be to do that? The holes on those tubes are pretty small. Plus, you are potentially contaminating a product you use on your eyes, which could lead a customer to having an eye infection, or much worse. I seriously hope the people suggesting this do not actually resell cosmetics to people. Also, for those stating this is a 72,000 loss....you can not claim a loss on a potential profit. You can deduct the cost of the spoiled inventory as an expense.

Hard to deal with things that go on or in the body, for sure. They all have expiration dates. Face creams, lotions, make up, vitamins, etc. They have to be sold off fast, and not expired when you sell them. Lesson learned, for sure in this case. At least you made a profit on them before the dried out or it could have been worse. For the people commenting in regards to "adding water" or tampering with them in any way, DON'T DO IT! Tampering with a product like that is highly illegal, and could cause considerable damage to someone who uses it. Good video, Pete. Keep on sellin'!

You might try airtight storage of products that commonly dry up over time. I've done this for years with things like sealers, gaskets, tape, adhesives, paint, rubber products, and generally any product containing petroleum, and/or other volatile substance that can often quickly evaporate/deteriorate. I've found that doing this can literally add years of useful life. For storage of large quantities, you could use regular garbage bags, twist the open ends tight, then fuse the end shut with a heat gun.
