Part of the reason I think it happens is the comparison of where the characters started vs how they grew and ended up. People praise Rigby because he went from essentially being *the main issue* in most instances, with zero self awareness or consideration for others….to a really decent guy, who even went as far as to get his diploma to feel worthy of Eileen Meanwhile, Mordecai just kinda stays stagnant….because he starts out the series decent. The *only* real growth Mordecai *can* have is when it comes to girls, because that was his biggest character flaw. And that flaw gets fleshed out more and more as the series goes on and Rigby *is improving* It results in this situation where Rigby starts out the show as a 1, and climbs up to a 6 or 7…….meanwhile Mordecai starts the show as a safe 8 and ends it as a 6. Rigby had flaws that were improved as the series went on….Mordecais flaws (as few as they may have been) developed more as the series went on
@foxtoons1999Ай бұрын
@@moar_nightsong To be fair, while it was petty and selfish, it’s still somewhat understandable. It’s a legit thing that comes from misogyny and sexism towards women and how much men sexualize them and excuse that sexualizing behavior for being male, so everything a man does when it comes to relationships or sex, is the woman fault. @DiddyKongVsLuigi8 күн бұрын
@ I kind of agree, but I do tip my hat to them for nailing 20 year old V-card toxicity. Mordecai was the perfect representation of what happens when a sheltered mamas boy who never kissed a girl grows up. Idk maybe cus I kind of relate to that. I didn’t get my first kiss till my early 20’s too. I was almost as bad as Mordecai growing up. Just a pot head working at a lame job with cool friends. Eventually you meet someone (in Mordecai’s case the cut girl where he takes his break.) It sucks being inexperienced, and especially if you were spoiled growing up. (Mordecai was 1000% spoiled being an only child with a super mom.) In all honesty, I feel like we all hate on Mordecai because we all see something in him that we also see in ourselves. Its very cringe to look back at mistakes we used to make, or see someone do something we would never do today. Like hijacking your friend’s wedding to dump your girlfriend. 😂 He’s 100% flawed for sure, but so are we in our early 20s. Perfect writing if the goal was to expose toxic-entitled “nice guys.”

@@DiddyKongVsLuigi personally I think the Mordecai hate is a little overblown at this point. I can't hate characters like mordecai just because they did something bad, sometimes characters just need to do bad things for the episode to deliver what it wants to deliver, and that's true even when the character is not clearly the villain. "Good guys can do bad things" basically. Also awful things. Friends can do bad things. Words cannot describe how hard I was laughing at how you portrayed Mordecai time and time and time again cheated on his girlfriend, I never noticed. It's the funniest thing this most how he manages to make the same mistake over and over again, it's cheating to incredible proportions. TIME AND TIME AGAIN, CLIPS ARE BACK TO BACK. Imagine your homie asks out the girl your feeling for years out of complete spite and rubs it in your face and even brags about to your other friends. I'm pretty sure most of us would be down right pissed leading to either a big fight and needing a break from the so called friendship. Mordecai was more calm than most in that situation than we give him credit for. Plus Rigby did push him first.

@@vibez2806 Lmao huh? Mordecai and Rigby quite literally spend most of their time together, they sleep in the same room. Mordecai only blew him off once this episode just for a chance to get with her. Rigby (in the early seasons) is extremely selfish lmao. He knew Mordecai sucked with asking her out so he did just to get a reaction out of him because he wanted to see a film with Margaret. Not only that, Rigby continuously took pot shots at Mordecai during the entire day and kept rubbing it in Mordecai’s face ALL BECAUSE HE DIDN’T WANT TO SEE A FILM WITH HIM. Its not different, Rigby was literally an asshole to Mordecai for no reason. Rigby shoved Mordecai, which in turn Mordecai did the same, but Rigby is insanely weak. Rigby kept pushing Mordecai’s buttons which finally had him snap out of anger, then he IMMEDIATELY regretted it. Anyway, I don't think I ever watched the whole show, but I saw enough to have an idea of how the characters and relationships progressed during the story. I knew that Rigby, insufferable and assholish as he was in the beginning, had improved significantly and I had hope Mordecai would too, since he had seemed like the less annoying of the two back then. I even remember watching part of the wedding episode and, when Rigby tells Mordecai about how he's dating Eileen, I was so happy. I thought, "Wow, Rigby is so mature and caring now, and he's pushing Mordecai to finally move past this love triangle bullshit. Finally, CJ will have nothing to worry about!" Boy, was I a fool. 🤣 CJ deserved SO much better, and the only upside about her relationship with Mordecai ending is that she might have ended up with someone who actually deserves her. 🤞
