I hate plumbing! Especially bath tap changes! This day started off looking like a nightmare but it ended up not being as bad as I thought.

Im 65 been a heating engineer my entire working life , still working i just did a bbu conversion felt like i been beaten up by mike Tyson but the money good , got my son on board now he's also registered its a great profession have no plans on retiring retaking gas safe in 2026

Hey. Already told you of my struggles with C-PTSD, anxiety & depression in DM. I've worked through much of it in therapy. I found I needed an outlet, something to take my mind off my problems. They suggested walking. Walking is boring. I'm bored just thinking about it. I need a reason to walk, walk to the chemist to pick up my antidepressants, walk to the barbers. We came up with photography, a good outlet for me that gives walking a purpose. When it's cold and raining I do macro photography in the garage. I'm utterly absorbed by it when I'm doing it, no intrusive thoughts, I forget my problems for a while. It helps. I get why making KZbin videos is an outlet for you. Whoever said 'suck it up and get on with it' is a dick... absolutely the worst thing they could say. It's ignorant, demeaning and dismissive of the real struggles you're dealing with. Ignore them, you do you. I'm here if you want to chat.

Thank you mate, I got into photography myself back in 2016. Got myself a Canon 6d MK1 with a few lenses and got really into it. Then went into the trade and it got forgotten behind. But now I have the KZbin stuff which is another media outlet I guess. I do enjoy making the videos, especially on those challenging jobs. Hope you're keeping well mate 👊🏾

Working on your own you can soon start to feel isolated. It's good to know that us viewers are being of a help to you as we share each days plumbing journey with you via you-tube. By the way those bath taps you fitted are a very poor performance shower tap (why go with that same tap make again?).

I'm not an expert on tap changes but I think it might be better to spray the taps with water to check the seals before you connect it all up ad if there is a leak you have to disconnect the flexi's. I could be wrong but that's how I see it

For future bath tap changes, I can definitely recommend Essex Flanges Fix-A-Tap kit. Blue for 3/4 BSP; fit and forget.

Yep carry a full set now. Had a callback on bath taps moving even with top hats so now always use fixatap.

Got a quick question. Have you ever heard of a reason why I can’t connect a condense pipe into the side of a washing machine standpipe. Thanks

It needs to go in after the trap as if the condense trap in the boiler were to every run dry (highly unlikely) then POCs can potentially be released from the condense discharge. Other option is to put an inline trap and then run it into the standpipe

Once had a fibreglass splinter in my finger from installing a bath, thought I’d got it out but after about a fortnight had to visit the local A&E for a doctor to remove something as big as a pin head but made my finger swell and caused a fair bit of pain particularly if I caught it accidentally.
