One tip for using your winch and snatch block…drape a chain across the rear most stake pockets on your trailer and put the snatch block on it. This way you can pull the cars off the trailer and still have some control if it runs. Once you get to the limit of the snatch block….then let out line as the car finally goes off the trailer. Also some 4x4 blocks on the trailer tires will save the transmission on the truck when winching on you loads. You can also use them as stops for the cars as they are loaded on the trailer. 👍

The ford 3.03 "toploader" 3 speed is basically indestructable, and can be converted to a top mount shifter like a T-18/T-19 with 3 speed Jeep parts. Yes, a 390 rotating assembly is a drop in upgrade for a 360, and using a 428 rotating assembly in a 360 turns it in to a 410.

Thanks for all your interesting videos. I'm enjoying them a lot. Just some advice on the engine jack if you want to lift up higher, you can cut the bottom mounting bracket on the jack cylinder and move it up higher. I've done it to mine about 3 years ago and it's helped a lot in lifting things higher over the grill

Hiya Chad, I hope your well, Its probably been said tens of times but when I built my haul trailer I set two boat rollers into the deck, it serves two porpoises , it allows the winch line to roll over them and saves your deck ( and the winch cable) and also allows car chassis frame rails to slide over them without catch in the deck timbers. Watch out for those waspers and Chiggers !

That trailer is sick and putting in some hard work to boot. That Badlands winch is like the perfect edition to to the trailer as well. You know she has some torque when you have your wheels chocked and its still dragging the truck and trailer backwards 😁

On that truck, save the front Ibeam / Brake assembly. Those are common swap ins to 65-72 F100 trucks to give them disk brakes, its what I did on my 65 f100. Edit, I should have finished the last 5 minutes before commenting this LOL.

When the pull is hard hook snatch block to the J hooks run cable around snatch block and back to the front of the trailer. That doubles pulling power.

There is a lot of steel in that trailer. You did strengthen the hitch which would have been the weak point... I figured the wood would be a big penalty. It is a pretty trailer. That remote winch is the cat's meow. I'm a one man operation too. Very slick. The old 4 doors will be an interesting build... two into one? The 3 ton International will do you well when you get that back on the road. An OBS body... What'cha doin' with that? Keep it up.

I thought you were taking a trip to the hospital when that truck rolled off the trailer. But, that was pretty funny! reminds me of the time i took a ride on/under the old '48 Dodge when it suddenly rolled backward knocking me off my feet and dragging me under the car. the wife sat watching in horror as I disappeared under the rear bumper and got drug.

I still have some FE engines, (390s and 428s), and used to do a lot of fiddling with them. If I remember correctly, the bore of the 360 and the 390 block are the same, and I vaguely remember that you could install the 390 piston, to raise the compression ratio. You can install the complete rotating assembly and make a 390. I am just going on memory, but I also thought that it was more difficult to find 390 stuff than the 360, at least where I live. That rear end, is what I need. I have a couple of 9 3/8 ths rear ends, and am going to have to narrow one.
@geoffreymills993212 күн бұрын
I hated to see that windshield trim go to scrap, it's worth it's weight in gold but I'm not surprised by the weight of the trailer, you did build it with some pretty good steel, can't wait to see what you haul home next and yes that hood was for a 68/69 chevelle but it's pretty crusty
