Vanessa. I am loving the low edit style of your videos. These videos are like having a conversation and thats what makes them cool. Appreciate you and your vulnerability. I am by nature very introverted. What really helped me was forcing myself to talk to people and network with people. At first it was hard, now going to events and talking with people is something I love and look forward too. Also, one book I HIGHLY recommend is "How To Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. I think it should be required reading for every human. Such a great book for people interaction. You rock.

Thank you so much! Yes, I've decided to start editing my own videos - so the result is naturally a lower edit as it's a reflection of my skillset haha! But also yes, I do feel the low edit captures the essence of the video and allows it to feel more conversational. Congratulations on developing your skill with talking to people to the point where you now look forward to it! That's amazing. And yes, I've read that book and was told "How to Talk to Anyone" by Leil Lowndes is a modern version of that! You rock too Mark! :)

I can so relate to this!! I used to be so comfortable socializing and going to events and talking to strangers, it came natural to me but then after COVID lockdowns being in that hermit bubble for so long, then being unemployed, avoiding meeting people and networking because of those inevitable “so what do you do?” Questions. But this is good news that we truly can improve upon our skills! Love this mindset

I feel you. It takes a lot of courage to remember who we are at the core without judging ourselves for feeling anxious. It took me awhile to accept that social anxiety is a real thing. Although it can be a great thing to know more of ourselves and others. And changing the stories we tell ourselves while reframing everything we’re conditioned to believe. The good news is… We’re all doing our best to choose being better, healthier, and wealthier. Shoutout from MTL. Life is a messy and beautiful thing to experience. ❤

Just a word about making friends in a new city as an introvert - I actually found it easier to make friends in a brand new city versus my old town because in a new city you have no choice. Back at home, I'd try to make new friends and when it didn't "work" I'd just give up and stick with my old friends because it was easier. Something about having no other options can really be the push for us introverts to get out there, make ourselves uncomfortable, and push past the initial obstacles instead of giving up ✨

I really appreciate how much of your personal life you share. It helps give others perspective, most people out there will not share these small details, they try to seem perfect, so it's a challenge for the rest of us to understand what goes on inside a successful person's mind. I didn't know that many creators were actual introverts in person. How did you manage to speak at events though, that sounds a bit terrifying when you're an introvert (I am one myself.) Thank you!

You already know about video hooks. Now think in terms of conversation hooks, but in reverse. Something I have learned in new social situations is to listen first, and then find hooks in what I've heard that will give me an on-ramp to ask questions to draw out the other person to talk about themselves (people love to do that, btw) and continue looking for hooks inside hooks to continue asking questions and making connections through shared history. Sharing history is a great way to move from mere acquaintanceship to potential friendship. Hope this is helpful for you.

you created the powerful mindset reframing technique to address the moments of self doubt and social anxiety - our minds can play these games with us but it 's job is to support us so when we think doubt and feel anxious dread, hey presto! it will support that. If we think (or reframe) "hey i can do this!, I am worthy and deserving" then our body will follow through with greater calmness and inner confidence. It takes practise, because the mind learns through repetition. Vanessa you are an amazing individual, keep creating, stay healthy!👏🏼👏🏼💯💯

What if every social media followed the rule of Dunbar's Number? By having a 150 friend/subscriber limit. As our human brains can only maintain relationships with about 150 people. Anymore than that would've been too much for the brain to handle and things wouldn't function properly. Our species throughout history had always had groups of 150 individuals; hunter gatherers, tribes, businesses, and military units. This study was discovered in the early-1990s by British anthropologist, Robin Dunbar. Who studied brain sizes of many primates, humans included. We have bigger brains so our social circles are bigger than other species. So, what do you think about Dunbar's Number?

Here's the bottom line, Vanessa. You have to eat. You can get food either by stealing it (that's not you) Depending on someone else to provide it to you (that's not you) Working for someone else being an employee ( that doesn't appear to be you either ) or Working for yourself (there is evidence that this might be you) So, your value and worth are not tied to any of these alternatives. Your value and worth comes from the fact that - YOU ARE. The mathematical probability of your existence as YOU is infinitesimally small, so the fact that YOU ARE is the evidence, in and of itself, that you have value and worth. Otherwise, YOU would not be here - someone else would be (or no one would). So, Vanessa is here, and she has value and worth simply because she is here. Now all we have to do is figure out what to do with Vanessa. You've got this, girl! You already have a track record to fall back on for encouragement. Instead of trying to discover the map, how about drawing the map, instead? Best wishes for the future.
