ace was already saved but ace died because of his stupidity. garp also thought wb will save him and he thought he was saved and running away but suddenly he died in front of him and he lost his cool and tried to kill akainu. and also garp gave ace and luffy to those bandits because of wg is trying to kill them and also if garp is there with them wg will defintely get doubt and know about their information so he just visited them often. also dadan is a very good parent if you watch 503 episode everyone would understand dadan is a good parent.

Isn't this the other way around. Garp raises both Luffy and Ace to be astounding Marines but both choose to be the one thing that Garp wouldn't have wanted for them, a life of piracy or crime. This line of thinking doesn't work for me. This is the same as having a Cop family member but you choose a life of crime so when the time comes, that family member upholds his duty but you're gaslighting him because he didn't choose a criminal over the right thing to do. It just doesn't make any sense to me. They knew what was up from the beginning. So no this is on Luffy and Ace not Garp

Garp saw way more than him but just closed his eyes. He is the only D that supports that fake justice. The Rocks pirates were absolutely a super group it'd be like if the worst generation formed a single crew. Garp 100 percent knows how bad the world government is. He knew what was going on in God's valley. Yet he believes in the idea of the marines. He's trying to change it from the inside. For example, He mentors Aokiji and Koby, Aokiji mentors Smoker, Smoker gets Fujitora onto Dressrosa, Fujitora fulfills smokers justice and gets the warlords abolished. Koby is an even more promising pupil. He kind of sucks but also kind of set everything in motion.

Also garp knows that the people view him like all might in my hero. If he left the marines it would destroy the hope of justice for the people. He's become an icon and symbol of justice and peace so much that he's stuck. He's so popular that him being in the marines makes the government look good so celestial dragons can't get ride of him and he can't leave because of he did the people may loss all hope of the marines being good. I think if he left it be like when all might retired. Garp inspired many good marines to join and has made positive progress in the world. If garp left it might make akainu the new symbol of peace like endeavor which didn't go well. If garp left many may leave and follow him out like they followed him in. He may cause more damage by leaving them staying.

The marines are antithetical to peace and progress because they are beholden to the WG. It doesn't matter if Koby becomes fleet admiral and cleans up the marines so long as they're still operating at the behest of celestial dragons. IMO garp shouldn't get credit for maintaining the current (shitty) status quo at the expense of his family. What good is a symbol of peace if he doesn't fight for peace? Garp himself knows his position as hero is farcical in nature. Navy needs help to overthrow WG and garp knows the goal should be overthrowing the WG. Saving ace would sow doubt in the minds of the public but there would probably be sympathizers who realize killing the child for the fathers crimes is fucked up. He probably has more intimate knowledge of how unlikely it is to topple the WG even if they all work together though, so he's pragmatic but as a fan it feels nasty lol

He could have done something, he should have done something over the last 40 years. Hell go for head brass position and then start a coup he had the power and position to do that. People have died so he could pretend hes doing the right thing and being a good person. He dos it for the safety of his family and friends. Bege is a mob boss. Look at any Blackbeard pirate. Big Mom extorts the food and people of any island under her control. Arlong ran a protection racket and forced Nami to betray her village. I did not say all pirates were bad. I said not all pirates are good. The story never tries to paint all pirates as good and just because the WG is bad doesn't mean all pirates are innocent. Garp not wanting his son or grand son to be pirates isn't a failing of his character. We now know there are systems in place in the Marines for people to NOT support the WGs worst actions. The only info we have about what Garp feels about this stuff is that he hates it so much he sits at a rank far below his station.

Garp’s issue is he has Smokers mindset. As a whole Pirates are evil but he see’s this one group who has morals but still refuses to cut them slack because they still call themselves pirates. Garp loves his grand-child, and he loved Ace as much. He stayed an active Marine to protect them the best he could. He couldn't take the risk for the WG to have interest in his wereabouts, for Luffy's and Ace's sake. Time stamp 18:50 : Garp is a layered character like Kuma… we don’t have all the pieces yet but despite that… Garp along with Kuma understands immensely what their choices in sacrifices are doing. I’d say Garp understands he stands to be hated for his resolve to being a symbol of the organization. He obviously doesn’t believe in it that damn much if he’s rejecting promotions for his principles as a man despite that being a bad look for the marines as a whole. Garp has been proud of Luffys journey but he also had to have his comrades back in sengoku during the paramount war, that inner conflict had more to do with him contemplating his influence on the boys because now here’s a whole war he has everything to do with and no power to actually do what he wants which is rare but much needed for his character growth. He absolutely believes in the youngins and the next generation otherwise why else would he allow himself to be captured knowing damn well he’s not a SWORD member in image. GARP fought against the strongest pirates on the seas and came to the conclusion that even their strength(Rocks x ROger) was not enough to go against the WG & win. He believed the best way was to be responsible for indoctrinating the best and strongest men into the marines in order to make the change himself that those legendary pirates couldn't. Therefore his pressure on his family to become good marines. THe strongest. It is that simple. In his mind if he could get Kuzan, Dragon, Bogart, Ace, and Luffy, who are all potentially strong leaders on the same side(marines), then that change could eventually happen, even with him gone.

Tell me, what is gonna change even if he reforms the marines, at the end of the day, marines are nothing but guard dogs for World government, the incidents like ohara and lulusia will keep on happening until the establishment of World government exists, reforming the marines isn't gonna do anything. It would make sense if Marins were an independent organization, but the reality is that the marines are just an extension of world government, a lap dog and a weapon for them. Marines are all good to the people until the WG orders em to massacre them. They will kill them. Untill the marines as a whole organization , turns up against the WG, Garp's reforms doesn't seem to help even a bit. And guy's like greenbull being recruited makes it seem like garp's efforts have no fruition.

They chose an other path because Garp’s path was wrong. He was trying to make them join the villains just like him. If they joined the Marines, they would’ve got killed anyways since they are criminal’s sons (plus Luffy ate the Nika fruit). His plan was dumb from the start. Basically, everyone he traines except Koby turned their back on the Marines (Dragon, Kuzan, Luffy & Ace). There just isn’t any justice their. Is it cowardice to not go against a system that has been in place for centuries and has proven why they're the number 1 superpower, because even if you realize there is evil occuring within the WG if you don't have the power to fully combat it then there's no point trying to fight it. He was doing his best to protect Luffy and Ace by having them become marines. Why? Because if they were anything else they would've been killed. Dragon left the Marines a long time ago. So, there is probably no record of his name. Only the officers that knew him must know that he’s Garp’s son (like Akainu). Sengoku and Tsuru know because they are Garp’s friends. Kuzan is his disciple that’s how he knows. The rest of the Marines don’t know. The WG must’ve erased any sign of his him because of the shame it would’ve brought. P.S : Yes, Dragon is Garp’s son. Luffy’s mom is not his daughter.
