Pretty lame for a guy to "bury the hatchet" with his foes to their face, and then turn around and say he hopes "shitty things will happen to them". Give it a fucking rest. Idk how old this clip is but with how much bitterness Bret carries with him on a day to day basis, its surprising he can even function. He refused to lose in Canada, and planned on leaving the WWF a day later. They weren't just gonna let him beat Shawn, drop the belt on RAW, and then walk into another company that was beating them in the ratings already. If it was Triple H's idea to screw Bret and keep them from letting a soon-to-be ex-star take their belt and/or its credibility then oh well. Shittier things have happened to nicer people.

This is quite an old video. Just to let you know that Bret has buried the hatchet. Unfortunately this channel likes to old recycle videos and re-upload them and not state these are old. How do you know Bret carries bitterness around on a day to day basis? Are you with him every day? Do you know him personally? Or are you basing your opinion on clips from old interviews that are being uploaded over and over again as if they were new? There's a big difference between someone sounding 'bitter' when being specifically asked a question about one of the worst moments of their life and just being bitter in general. Also, you've misunderstood the Montreal screwjob. Bret didn't plan to leave a day later. He was still under contract until the end of the month, so there was plenty of time for him to drop the belt to somebody else. He suggested forfeiting it on Raw and Vince agreed, but he didn't have to agree - he could have insisted that Bret drop it in a match, which Bret has said he was happy to do, as long as it wasn't to Shawn in Montreal.

He is remembered as the greatest technical wrestler of all time. He has transcended WWF/E and is a household name in wrestling. He is immortalised as the best ever. And he has earned every right to complain about them. You would too, in his situation. Vince has allegations, HHH and HBK were scums back then, his brother died, Goldberg ended his career. Yes, one would be bitter.

He wasn’t a fucking mastermind of the Screwjob. Give me a fucking break. Because he has power now Bret wants to put this at his feet. Fucking bitter Bret. None of this shit holds any water. Love him as a wrestler. Always will. But yeah get the fuck over it now. It’s been 27 fucking years.
@Bernicia2955 ай бұрын
First of all, this interview is an old one. Also, Triple H did have power in 1997. He may have been just a midcarder, but he and Shawn were both sitting in on creative meetings and making booking decisions affecting other wrestlers and yes, Triple H did play a part in the Screwjob. If interviewers keep asking Bret about this, he's going to keep giving his honest opinion. That doesn't mean he's constantly 'bitter' or hasn't moved on. It's actually the interviewers who need to move on and find different questions to ask.
@azapro9115 ай бұрын

It's easy for people to say let it go but he is 100% dead on. They paid Mike Tyson the entire amount of Bret's contract so it wasn't that Vince didn't have the money. It was that those two were jealous he was the top guy. Which, yeah get over THAT... But then add in he had to go to the minor leagues of Wrestling in Atlanta, couldn't stop his brother's death. Wrestles an idiot that hurt everyone in his path. Gets concussed. Gets a stroke because of it. Yeah man .. I'll be bitter too. At worst case, without the stroke, he comes back in 2001 when Vince buys the WCW contracts out, but now that can't happen. Then you have Shawn come back and redeem Himself and you can't. Just a very sad thing to be on the top of the mountain and have haters push you off and you break every one going down. That would be hard for anyone to let that go.

@@brixtonmystery No one debates that. He changed everything with that one appearance. But the whole nonsense with Bret started with Vince saying he couldn't afford Bret's contract. Imagine that incident never happened? How far Brett would’ve went. Kinda understand the resentment but hopefully people whose careers have been ended, especially all they’ve known, bread and butter/meal tickets, find other revenues that they enjoy doing and it’s actually rewarding to the soul. Would’ve been a better match and more opportunities for them both had it went down differently had there not been backstage issues and underlying favoritism.

It certainly is getting old. That's because these are all clips from old interviews from years ago. For some reason ITR keeps reposting the same few clips over and over with clickbait headlines. They're deliberately trying to push the 'bitter Bret' narrative just to get views and sadly it seems to be working.

@@Bernicia295 Yes, I thought Bret looked a little younger here so thought it would be from a while back, whether it was before or after Bret's return in 2010 I do not know, but you are right, they do seem to repost old content and headline it as something new. Bret needs to stop holding a grudge and let go. Bret was an awesome wrestler, one of the best to work with, according to others. But come on, that was back in the late 90s. Complaining and being bitter all these years isn't gonna change a damn thing. Learn to deal with it, can't change the fact that it still happened. I do agree with other comments, though. Bret seems like such a cool guy, but one thing I can't ever understand is this: He seemed to want to drop, as in vacate the title on Raw. Now, he must know that this couldn't happen. It would be hugely disrespectful to just leave as champion like "I'm going off to better things now". I understand that he didn't want to lose to Michaels, but I never understood how another solution wasn't forwarded, like why not have Michaels kayfabe injured and then have Owen beat Bret for the belt and then have Michaels beat Owen later? Or Taker, or anything. Makes no sense. If he actually just didn't want to lose the belt at all then no that isn't okay. As awesome as he is.
