When you have as much homeless in your city that are abandoned with mental health issues , it’s less likely a single woman would like to go for a jog…. And when almost everyone is poor who has time to exercise with several jobs to make ends meat. You forgot to mention this is by 15 min away from the capitol. Do you think they want to live how the rest of America is living.?

I moved to Arlington when I got a job in DC last year. I knew I wouldn't have a car so I experimented with bike commuting. That actually just turned out to be a full blown hobby. On top of the physical confidence I gained from the cycling, I began running and now I'm training for a marathon! I've never felt physically better in my life, and I genuinely think the very solid (by North American standards at least) urban planning makes it so much easier and feasible to be able to enjoy good physical health. It really shows how important cities should be designed.

@a2stick952 you gotta prioritize one or the other. If you are starting out weight training, prioritize that for at least 3 months, do minimum 2 runs a week. After a few months when your body starts to get less sore with weight training you can add in more cardio.

Actually super interesting to me this link. I was always a semi-passionate US City Design hater, by the hands of the "Not Just Bikes" channel, and much preferred western European city design, just for the atmosphere, quality of living and less car pollution, but to now have a strong indicator that this may also correlate with human fitness and health a lot more than I initially thought, is quite insane.
@bfuncken

A big example is the Dutch design; we make sure all common commodities are within walking/biking distance. We have the best bike paths. Its (for small distances) harder to go by car than it is to cycle or walk. Shows great numbers in reducing obesity.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share some good news with you all. Let's just put it this way, the Ten Commandments are called the Moral Law. Ask yourself this. How many lies have you told? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever used God's name in vein? Have you ever hated someone or ever looked with lust? This is for you to judge yourself, but chances are that you are a lying, thieving, blasphemous, fornicating, adulterer at heart and you HAVE to face God on judgement day. Now ask yourself this. If God judges you on judgement day by these Commandments, will you be innocent or guilty? Of course you'll be guilty because we've all done these things. The truth is that none of us are good people and we NESD God's grace to make it to heaven. We judt simply cannot do it on our own. These Commandments arecalled the Moral Law. You and I broke the law, Jesus payed the fine. So now what we must do to be saved is to repent of our sins and trust alone in Jesus Christ! To repent doesn't mean to just say I'm sorry, but to turn from our sins and let Him truly be our Lord continually. He said that many will say to Him, Lord, Lord I have done all of these things for you. And He will say I never knew you. Depart from Me, ye who work iniquity! And those will be cast into outer darkness and raging hellfire and loneliness for all of eternity!!! Because we broke His law, He is very, very just to send us to hell. If someone had murdered 4 people and said to the judge, I've done nice things too and have tried to treat people nice but it was just one time, the judge would then say, okay but you're going to jail. And the judge is very just to do that. One last thing, if you were 10,000 feet in the air and you had to jump, you wouldn't jump out and flap your arms and try to save yourself. That's ridiculous! You would put on the parachute. It is the same with Jesus. You must trust Him as you trust the parachute. We are not good and we cannot save ourselves with our own goodness. We must trust alone in Him to save us. In just a moment of time you can pass from death to life. Jesus said, "Verily, verily I say unto you, you must be born again." That is how we enter heaven. Through the blood and grace of Jesus Christ!!!!✝️If you ask someone how to enter Heaven, they will most likely say, "Be a good person." Well the Bible says that none is good, no not one. We like to compare ourselves to guys like Hitler and say, "Hey, I'm a pretty good guy compared to him." But when we compare ourselves to God's standard, we realize that the Bible speaks truth when it says that we all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God!!! When we see this ( our sin in its TRUE light), we see how much trouble we are in and we say, "Well then there's nothing I can do. I'm going to hell for sure then." It's true that there is nothing that WE can do, but there is something that has already been done for you! God sent His One and Only Son to die on a cross as a sacrifice for our sins! So to recieve that eternal sweet sweet forgiveness, all we must do is repent of our sins (meaning to continually turn from them and confess them) and trust alone in Christ as you trust a parachute. If I was to push you out of an airplane, you'd want the parachute for sure! Don't try to flap your arms and save yourself, trust in the parachute! His finished work on the Cross IS ENOUGH!! He is the only way to Heaven, He said it Himself!! These other religions teach that we must he good and do good things and then maybe if we've been good enough, we will enter Heaven. But if that is true then we are all doomed to eternal hell because none of us are good. That's why this makes sense. Look at the Ten Commandments, they are written on your heart right now!! I promise that you have violated them. And you might still be doing that today. Therefore God is just to poor out His wrath on us because we deserve it!! But Christ died for us so that we can spend eternity in Heaven with Him! Turn to Him today, and He and only He will save your soul "Verily, verily I say unto you, you must be born again ( to go to Heaven)."✝️The true joy of Christ dwells in me!!! Does it in you? I know where I'm going when I die! Do you? I have an ETERNAL victory! Do you? I have more joy than ever because of what Christ has done. I have been down both roads. The road of the wicked and the road of Christ. Christ is way better and my cup runneth over with true joy and salvation. If you do not know the One true God and are not sure of your salvation, I promise He will never fail you. Turn to Him in repentance and faith. Repent means to confess and forsake your sins, never turning back to them. I tried changing on my own but I couldn't. It took the power of Christ on the inside of me to do it for me. He will give you a new and clean heart with new and clean desires and you shall be born again. A new creation in Christ Jesus!! Hallelujah!! Jesus said in order to enter the Kingdom of God, you must be born again! Thank you Lord Jesus!✝️

My gf and I actually met Will at the new DMV Iron location in Falls Church and we both live in Rosslyn which is a neighborhood in Arlington. Few points: 1) He is right that the parks here are amazing 2) I am data scientist and ML Engineer so enjoyed the stats he kept citing. There are issues with almost every stat but the trend and consistency over the last few years about Arlington anecdotally seem right on point. 3) DMV Iron is actually one of the cheaper gyms in the area (to his point about money not being everything). It is also the best gym I have ever been to in my life (each location) 4) Will and his camera guy were extremely nice, talked to me on two separate occasions and were both happy to talk to any fans that came up to them when we saw them at the Falls Church DMV Iron 5) Not gonna lie, I think Will looks a little more cut in person than he does on these videos. For me as an European many of these things are very normal for me. Cities here are very bike and pedestrian friendly and whenever something is less than 15min by foot i'll walk (most of the times even up to 30min after that i might drive cus im lazy). Fresh vegetables are very normal and part of almost every meal and i was surprised to see the extreme price difference. Take the zucchini as example: those were $2.99/lb, here in Germany i pay about $0.90/lb for it. In fact its alot cheaper to prepare meals at home than eat out (even fast food) which is why most people i know do exactly that most of the time. Same thing with fruit. We always have fruit at home and i eat at least the equivalent of 2 oranges every day.

The school where the par course is located is a middle school, with an accessible gym that includes an indoor track, basketball and pickleball courts, exercise equipment and classes, all useable while school gym classes are going on. The 3 high schools in Arlington have pools that are available to the public for lap swimming as well as fitness classes. Access is available for a small daily fee or reasonably priced passes. Same man I moved to Spain and it's been a great 5 years. The food, the people, the cities, everything is fucking amazing. Every city is made for people to walk. I don't have a driver's license and I make on average about 20K steps( i gotta go to work and college) so being healthy is not hard and a little plus public transport is amazing as well

As someone from Virginia who recently went back home, I can tell you the reason there are bike and scooters around is because the parking lots/garages are not only so far away but you have to pay depending on the area lol and food wise there is alot of farms around and it’s a bit cheap the city markets…also money does play a HUGE role.

definitely got to get them while their young. when you make exercising fun, the kids don't really realize what they're doing is actually benefitting their bodies in the long run. I used to play football everyday as a kid from 8-12yrs old and I used to be fast and I mean like REALLY fast my stamina and endurance when running was amazing not to mention my overall strength but after going years without playing it's hard to believe I was ever that strong it's like I never even spent 5 hours every day as a kid running around the neighborhood with a group of friends playing football, kickball, soccer, biking. Life felt more REAL back then it's even sadder to say all this knowing that my body is capable of incredible things we humans weren't meant to sit around on our ass' God built us different and yet here I am dreaming about what could or could have been? we need more youth sports cause this unhealthy lifestyle is only going to be normalized to a point where 'working out' will be such an odd term

It’s definitely one of the wealthiest areas here in the DMV which contributes to its title as “America’s fittest”. It’s also gorgeous and [relatively] safe which makes going out for walks/runs/rides that much more fun and motivating.

Great points! I moved from the Midwest to Old Town Alexandria (a stones-throw away from Arlington as you know) a few years ago and noticed that almost everyone here has that mindset you mentioned. Glad to hear you took the habits with you to your new home! 🙏🏽

Easily my favorite video of yours. More content like this, please. This is truly educational - had no idea something like Arlington was a thing in these regards. I actually find that a city that conforms to the data in regards to healthy habit building in terms of their urban planning and SHOWS THAT IT WORKS, IN AMERICA, OF ALL PLACES, to be inspiring and truly fascinating. Yes, more people need to understand that setting up an environment conducive to your health an fitness goals is one of the key foundations that most people are missing. This doesn't just include low-friction access to infrastructures like gyms, parks, and whole food spaces - but access to social circles that value health and fitness goals as well. And I don't believe money is that much of an issue on a micro-level, and you don't have to live in Arlington, Virginia to take lessons from this video. I hope everyone sees this.

As an American who enjoys being active and trying new sports, it's cool to see something like this where the whole city is active and provides actual places to have fun and be active. In my city we have almost nothing. We have maybe two parks with basketball hoops that are run down and some nice fields that have some soccer goal posts.. We have two gyms and that's it. I wish we could get some volleyball courts, tennis, pickleball.
