I'm not sure why but when you said "this is what I'm alive for" I burst out into tears. I feel like that perfectly describes how your experiences and feelings should be described as. I am an aviation geek. I love planes. I love flying airplanes, taking off, breathe in how wonderful our planet is and land it by myself and get out of the plane with the biggest smile you might have ever seen. I am scared of heights, though (Yes, that is possible)... :D And which is most important: I would never jump out of a plane (since it is abuse of aviators rescue tools or what ever you would call that in English- I translated it word for word from German...) !!!! You can be proud of yourself and maybe because of you I will try this f***ing misbehaviour in aerospace once in my lifetime... I'm pretty sure I'd love it, if I tried. :D Sorry for this weird comment... I'm pumped somehow... I want to try it. If you can do it, I can do it as well... don't I? :)

I did a skydive about two years ago and whilst I was about 300 or so metres from the ground the parachute collapsed- definitely the most terrifying moment of my life. Me and the instructor the I was strapped to fell for about 100 metres before the winds changed and re-inflated the parachute (thank the gods). After an extremely bumpy landing the first thing my instructor shouted was "WE'RE ALIVE!!"... Comforting, right? That being said, I'd definitely do it again- I mean what are the odds of me almost dying twice?? (Famous last words I guess)

This made me so happy to watch, well done!! I related so much to this, we went on a trip with school to Cape Town when I was 15 and it had been mentioned from the start that we could abseil down Table mountain if we wanted, I have a massive fear of heights so I had said 100% no way from the beginning. I told everyone every time we talked about it I couldn't. But then then closer and closer the time got to doing it and people were getting more excited I started saying "I wish I could but I know I just can't". On the day I ended up going up the mountain on the cable car for moral support and when I got to the top it was the most beautiful day and I'd never seen a view like it but also knew unless I came back somehow one day I would never see again - and i said yes. I've never panicked so much, let's be honest when you've chickened out of abseiling down something which is half the size of a house, its a bit of a step to do the highest natural abseil in the world! I felt a bit numb the whole way and don't remember a huge amount but the feeling at the bottom was one of the best I've ever felt, so so happy! I don't think I've ever felt so proud, fair to say I had my parents sobbing because they never thought I could do it. Well done Dodie, you should be so proud!

Dodie, wow, I'm so happy for you! I completely know how it feels when you are just filled to the brim with excitement and happiness, even though your usual state of mind is quite the opposite. I am also a victim of depersonalization, along with being a person that rarely expresses their feelings/emotions (physically and mentally). It's a feeling that everyone should feel at least once in their life, because as you said, it adds to the overall appreciation of the world and one's life. I also want to mention how amazing this video was! It's definitely one of my favorite videos because of the sheer happiness that comes out of you when talking about it, your fantastic storytelling, the amazing message, and your cute sick voice! I hope you experience these bubbly moments more often because you deserve it. :D

This may be one of my favorite of your vlogs. Love the advice about getting yourself to say yes and jump even when it makes no sense and how those are the moments that make life amazing.

I've wanted to go skydiving for years and years and have dreamt about the day I'm finally 18 and I'll be allowed to do it without my parents permission (same with tattoos) but it's just crazy because I'm almost 18. I'm nearly there. I've been dreaming about turning 18 since I was 11 and now I almost am holy shit where has the time gone.
