In 2018, my passion for Corvettes started to grow started with the C5, then C6, then C7. After the pandemic prices were ridiculous and there’s still way up there. I was going to wait until I retire in five years and then when I came across a Pewter metallic 1999 C5 FRC I couldn’t resist pulling the trigger. Had 18,000 miles garage kept in pristine original condition except for smoked windows, still smells new especially the interior. it’s now in my garage as of late April Love a C6 too and good luck !

I had a C6 , just traded a 700hp procharged C5 for a C7 ZO6, and I tell ya, it is the best car I ever had. The technology put into this car is incredible, whereas the C5 and C6 would usually spin the tires taking off, not an issue with the C7 Zo6 magnetic ride control takes car of that. I already bought an x pipe and cold air filter and the car just continues to roar. Ill admit, it was an expensive purchase, but I am a corvette guy, and enjoy it everyday.

I suspect it is the ETC that is controlling the wheel spin. That car has enough power to light em up easily without the PCM stepping in IMO. ENJOY!!

Purchased in October a 2008 C6, one owner, base car, Z51 equipped, 3LT, atomic orange, automatic wih 4064 miles. Sold my 2016 C7 convertable last year with 10600 miles, 7 speed. Really liking the C6 and an extra 16k back in my pocket. The C7 gauge cluster I could never seem to get everthing arranged the way I wanted. Last week took the old Godyear run flats on the C6 off and replaced with Michelin AS sport4 and replaced the "gumby" wheels with new GM 7 spoke chrome wheels, same as on the Hertz rental corvettes, ZHZ rpo number. They look great installed on the car. Had two C5 , 6speed convertables, each with less than 10k miles I sold to buy the C7. But the C6 is defiinetly the one l like the best and will keep. thanks for your great articles, really appreciape your work and knowledge. Keep up the good work.

C6GS is my second choice. First choice is C5Z06 for me, before the mandatory pedestrian safety and the bigger wheels to compensate the design change. Good choice on the C6, now you can let us know the difference in driving experience. Looking forward to more videos, thank you.

Nicely put together video! We just test drove a '13 manual lt3 gs yesterday and put ernest $ down on it, picking it up next week. I'm maxed out on the excitement! Congrats on your c6! Best I can tell, my ls3 in gs does not have active fuel management which I'm happy about! I will be ordering the "skip shift eliminator" for it, if I find out previous owner didn't install it already! He passed away, buying it from estate. Wish I coulda met the fella!

C6 is a great option and your reasoning is very sound, the C6 will also be very similar on the repair side and a newer motor and more OEM parts available. And the price is always right.

I got my C5 in January 2021 -- a Light Pewter convertible, yeah, I understand your fear of a roll-over, but I don't push it beyond MY limits (which are well within the car's capabilities). I got it as a highway cruiser, a travelin' machine, and I've personally put 46,000 miles on it in a little over two years. I've driven three times across the USA, including end-to-end on Historic Route 66 (Chicago to LA) and end-to-end on the Lincoln Highway (New York to San Fransicko). I've driven it through 43 of the Lower 48 States, and next month I'm setting out to drive through the remaining five. Got some great sightseeing on my wanderings, as well. If I'd known how much fun I'd be having in my Pewter Bullet, though, I would have spent more and bought a C6, right out of the blocks. I could do that now, but I've built so much "history" with this car that I'd be reluctant to let it go. Besides, I've managed to convince myself that "the C6 is really more like a C5½."

Glad you're able to get another Vette for the garage. I had 2 once myself but the "other one" was a C4. This is just me personally, but the C6 is at the bottom of my list of favorites and would have been my last choice. I just don't like the lines of it. Good luck with your new adventure with it.

If you got a C6Z be sure to check if the head(s) valve guides were done! If not, #1 priority. Look around and you'll see how many catastrophic LS7 failures have happened due to leaving stock. Cheers from Canada, and welcome to C6 club. Love my Atomic Orange Z :⁠-⁠)

Great analysis and choice. I have a C7, and the gauge cluster bugged me too -- the analogue side of the cluster is tough to read. But it grew on me quickly, and now I can't imagine going back. I'm looking forward to your videos because messing with a C5 or C6 that I don't have to drive daily is an idea of mine to ....

Thanks not a Corvette owner but always loved and wanted since growing up in NYC as a teen someone in the neighborhood came in with a 58 convertible,still my favorite. Not to crazy about the C8, love the front and sides but thought Chevy could have done a better job with the rear. I am now trying to convince my son to trade in his Audi TTI convertible for a Corvette so I can live out my dream of driving one. Can’t wait to see your other videos. 😅

C7s have horrible automatic transmissions and they have cylinder deactivation issues. That having been said, you can get a manual 7-speed c7 and have the cylinder deactivation tuned out.

Hey Toys, can you do a video on interior noise for the C5? I love hearing the engine and exhaust but the road noise gives me a headache---even with my Nitto G2's the road noise was obnoxious. I had Crazy Cowboy come and install his sound insulation package and that helped A LOT! I also got one of those 2.5 in foam barriers to put between the passenger compartment and the trunk, and reinforced that with a sheet of polycarbonite plastic--big improvement and made my sub woofer sound much better. I don't know how you could mitigate that trunk 'thumping' in a coupe, but in my vert the sound insulation and that barrier worked wonders. I can even hold normal conversations with my passengers now--and hear my music cleanly--while still hearing the engine and exhaust. Just wondering about your thoughts on this. I'll hang up and listen. (and get rid of that bling plate behind your exhaust tips! What? Are you Canadian or something?

This is off topic, but how high is your C5 off the ground at the jack points? I have a 2001 and it looks lower. I’ve seen that the forums state a just over 6in trim height stock. Mine is like 4.5in. I want the car back stock in this area because I’d like to safely drive and enjoy the car. Thought’s? Love your vids and look forward to the C6 content!!

It will be interesting to see your opinion of the C6 versus the C5. I know many on CF have gone back to a C5 after owning a C6 stating they like the more raw feel of a C5. I've only driven a C6 once and that was about 10 years ago and for only a few miles on a test drive. I wonder how much difference there really is between these two.

The worst part of the C7 dash are the dumb analog gauges. The speedometer especially is worthless. At highway speed it's barely moved at all and pointless when I have two other speedometers to look at.

Beautiful cars! I do like 05's and they are a great deal for folks that don't intend to drive super aggressive and up the HP. That is a large percent of the C6 owners IMO. It will be me some day when I fully scratch my H.P. itch ... (:-)

My guess was ...C7 I can tell its not a 2008+ C6 with the LS3 and TR6060 trans.....those had glossy carbon fiber center consoles. I've owned a 2005 and 2008 C6 and there is a WORLD of difference in those drivetrains and the performance!!!!

Every generation has something to hang its hat on. Love the c8 but personally I wouldn’t buy one. It’s lost touch with what a vette is C7 is great it’s developed after c6r labs racing technology but there’s a disconnect when you drive em They’re fast as all get out but I’m just missing something with those The c6 is THE generation you want. There’s been multiple big wigs from gm that say the ls3 in the c6 vase model and grand sport from 08-13 is the best engine gm has ever made and will be the greatest they will ever make. Combine that with a tr-6060 trans Ya Head shoulders better than anything else you can think of. It’s such a blank platform you can make a drag build, track build, or just a bad ass daily Jack of all trades the c6
