Hi, Excellent video :) I service a lot of diesel engines, I all ways wet the rubber seals with oil, It depends on the engine how to prime the fuel system. On my D3 I change the oil every six months, fuel filter and cab filter(carbon type) and engine air filter every twelve months, I all so check A/c pressure in the spring (April/May). I am looking forward to the next installment :)

Great video as always. +1 on removing oil from the bottom on these and also for removing the second sump plug for the turbo sump! Funny how service kits only give you one sump plug though.

Thank you! 😊 It's true, and it's actually very bad to replace only one sump plug!

Another great video Fahed 🫡 Great to see the workshop in full swing! Nothing like being in a warm good sized workshop in this cold weather ! Serviced my 4.4tdv8 last week , I’m convinced it sounded much better after!

Thanks very much, Shane, really happy you enjoyed it! 😊👍🏻 For sure, so much better being able to work indoors and not have to keep running from the rain and freezing weather! Great stuff, I definitely think once the car is serviced, it performs much better! 👌🏻

Great video😊 I always change the fuel filter without taking out the air filter and don't use anu tools, just my hands. When changing oil always put some oil on new gasket, it helps to unscrew next time. Now I am waitng for parts and tools to change manifold leaking gaskets. Last year I chnged all gaskets between heads. Now it's working perfect😊 good luck❤

@lifeasusual9 күн бұрын
If you want to enjoy a nice Range Rover, make sure to get something 2018 and above, and make sure it's a Range Rover, not a Range Rover Sport, with a minimum of 4.4l - do not get the 3.0 litre engine as it will give you a headache. 👍🏻😊

The issue restarting is because you have to let the fuel recharge/prime through the system after changing the fuel filter. The car does this automatically when you turn the ignition key to on (not crank). Hold in on position for 30 second sand you will hear the fuel system priming. Then turn to full ignition after the 30 seconds and car should start. If not do the same process again. Sometimes if you haven't fitted the fuel filter correctly (slight gap in seal) the car will not start as it cant prime the fuel.
@Craig-c5e16 күн бұрын
Yes that’s what I was shouting too! 😂 It’s also best to put diesel into the fuel filter before fitting too! 😊

Great video! As others have said, whilst the original oil spec is 5W30, it is recommended to change to 5W40 for older engines. The 5W30 oil is very thin and as the engine wears the bearing gaps increase, so 5W40 helps prevent further wear due to it being thicker. LR Time (You Tuber) has posted good videos on this subject. He calls 5W30 5W Dumb Ass !!

Use Castrol Magnatec 5w40 DPF to protect your engine and turbos. the 5w30 is too thin at high temp. The W***** ref you speak of is the Ford recommended spec. The end letter c or D is just an improved version of the original A or B versions. Never scrimp on oil as it is the life blood of your engine. Magnatec is the best as it clings to the engine parts for start up especially the Turbos. I always change my oil at 3000 or 3500 miles max. Manufacturer oil change recommendations are too far out and will eventually destroy your engine. Remember manufacturers want you to buy more cars so they extend oil changes to create wear in the engine and shorten its life span. If you are unsure of using 5W40 you can still get the Magnatec version in 5W30. The 40 just means it maintains its viscosity at a higher temperature than the 30. 5W40 is recommended by Range Rover in hot countries.

Thank you so much, this is very insightful info! 😊

Filters good choice. But oil…. Ok so comma/halfords oils are ok, but the difference between them and Castrol,Shell and the premium brands are additives. It’s like using supermarket fuel and using BP Ultimate or Shell V-Max. Ok you are changing it every 6 months but still premium brands are better. But if you don’t want to use premium then goto Smith&Allen as you’ll be able to buy larger quantities for a better price and their stuff is great. Also do some research on DPB 100, truly amazing stuff.

I have 4.4tdv8 can I? Can I use the shell oil?
@chrisbonell48716 күн бұрын
4.4 has a DPF so needs a specific oil grade 5w 30 C1. See the handbook or research online.
@lifeasusual9 күн бұрын
Hi Mohamed, you can use Shell oil as long as it meets the correct specifications for your engine. My engine is 3.6 TDV8 so it is different than yours and it will have different specifications to yours. I hope this helps! 👍🏻😊

@noelcahill67079 күн бұрын
@lifeasusual yes iv a range rover sport 3.6tdv8 iv the egrs blanked and a stage 1 remap on her i use castrol gtx 5w30 change it every 5500 miles every 11000 miles the fuel filter and air filters the cheapest repair for any engine is every 6k miles or 10k km put the best oil for your engine i can put better castrol but i like the gtx for non sludge every 3rd oil change by cheap 5w30 ford diesel spec put it in run her for 15 mins and dump that oil and filter out and then put a new filter and castrol back in

Some cars can be done with a extractor my own car it doesn't remove half the oil
@wala273015 күн бұрын
There is a reason they have sump plugs. Never use extractors. You are tempting fate of engine damage if you do.

Yes, that's true, but it's always recommended to drain it from the bottom, even the manual specifies that 👍🏻

You may have tried to start the car without primming the fuel filter first..
@martinilavsky255316 күн бұрын
I have done it, due to low battery. Afterwards engine struggles to start, completely drained the battery. Even with battery fully charged, it takes several attemts to start the engine.

Hi Gordon, I did prime it but it looks like I had a pocket of air; which is common when replacing the fuel filter 👍🏻
@lifeasusual9 күн бұрын
Hi Martin, actually one time that happened to me too. It used up all the battery and the battery died so I had to charge it overnight 👍🏻
@michaelblaich368516 күн бұрын
But I wouldnt use 5W30. If I am not wrong the engine has been designed before the 5W30 came up. Take 5W40 C3
@lifeasusual9 күн бұрын
My engine takes 5W30 since the beginning of time. It says on the cap and in the manual too 👍🏻 I mention it in the video as well 😊
