Note that when a career criminal has a machine gun, that's something to bargain away. Criminals do not imperil the government nor are criminals a danger to political careers. Ordinary citizens, on the other hand, are existential threats when they have weapons, especially Weapons of Power. Ordinary citizens can expect to have the book thrown at them because the government is threatened by ordinary citizens, armed or not.

Good information! When I was a young soldier (a long long time ago!), I sometimes got my hands on things that were of questionable legality. Eventually, I decided that it didn’t have a place in my home. I don’t have anything in my home that I even THINK would be illegal. I’ve played with machine guns and explosives as a young man, and I’m good for life. Thank you for another great video/podcast.

Former military and not much scares me. Sad thing is many of the old munitions seem to have a new use now. Some of them definitely need to be disposed of but if shit goes sideways in the future there will be a use for it on the homestead. Interlopers will have to be dealt with.

When I was in EMS it was right on top of Ft Dix Lake Hurst Naval air station and McGuire afb. So we had a ton of Vets. ESP Vietnam era. Sadly in the 90s a lot of these guys were unstable and would set boobytraps around the house and property. When they’d call for help if it was one of them there was a warning if you were lucky. But we learned who was who a lot of the time. But most doors and windows were wired for instant goodbyes with a lot of them. 🤠

I know a guy who owns a gun shop. A customer brought in a shotgun to get worked on. He also brought a "parts gun" of the same model except the barrel was about 12" long and had the stock sawed off into a pistol grip. You know, bank robber special. The guy was driving around with it in his back seat like everything is cool. Wasn't phased at all when told it's illegal. He was then informed it would be better, legally, to be caught with a trunk load of cocaine than that gun. Suddenly he understood the seriousness of the situation. The shop owner immediately put a piece of rebar down to the bolt face, sticking out well past the 18" mark and welded it in.

That was informative. I remember as a kid finding a dud what I thought was a smoke grenade in the woods at Navy housing on Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. I put it down and when my father got home, I told him about it. He went and looked at it then called EOD. Turns out that it was a White Phosphorous grenade. Much worse than smoke grenade. There was an incident at a local college when some kid was handling a rifle grenade. A guy who had been in the Army asked him about it and the kid told him it was a dud and then dropped on the parking lot. It exploded and destroyed 2 cars put a big hole in the parking lot and killed a few bystanders. That happened at Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tennessee. That happened in the early 60s.

Short note. I did try Riton optics. Got a new red dot and used your guns24. Arrived promptly, fit well and worked very nicely at the one range trip I have been able to take so far with it. Loved the selection of screws that came with it too. instructions for installation was light but it ain't rocket surgery.

I had one of those moments recently, although it wasn't as bad as it could have been. The brother of a friend passed away. The brother had reloaded ammo and my friend didn't know what to do with it nor had any use for it. Our local gun club has barrels for disposing brass and bad ammo so I took all of it, went through it and disposed of most of it. It all had been loaded a while ago (1980s) and much of it was unknown powder, etc, plus the brass of some had corroded. I did keep a bunch of .45 ACP that looked to be in good condition and had a known (and confirmed) load recipe - after testing it over a chronograph. Hey, we're having a gun show this weekend, come on down! Linn (Oregon) County Fairgrounds!

Knives , 4 sticks of dinamite, 6 fragmentation grenades from the Netherlands. and other assorted items. Thanks to the bomb squad I made it for 47years. Times HAVE changed. Richard

Excellent episode gentlemen. Your explosive advice is spot on. For machine guns you can check the registry before turning them in. There may be a chance that grandpa did register it and if so you can get it transferred into your name. Another option is to cut the receiver per atf instructions and turn it into parts instead of handing it over to law enforcement.
@jeffhutchins70482 ай бұрын
You're right. Unfortunately they don't have a COMPLETE registration accounting.

From what I understand, if you’re not on the original resistration, unless you’re a Class III dealer, you have to sell it immediately. I supposed you could then buy it back from the dealer? Roy

Way back when in the very early 80's, I was on light duty and had to work the desk. A former Officer I went to the academy with had quit when she found a lawyer to marry. She came in to the lobby and sad she had some ammo she needed to dispose of. It was a single 22 lr cartridge that she found on the sidewalk someplace down town.. She wanted me to write up a report over it and put it into evidence. It somehow got lost in the circular file for a while. As to the old pineapple grenades. You can usually find someone selling the "complaint grenade", pull the tag to file the complaint gag with the inert grenade.

There are some collectible pistols that are legal to put stocks on. Broomhandle Mausers, Lugers and some Browning Hi-Powers.
@fmgpubsАй бұрын
Correct, but they are short barrels. However, some are curio and relics and it’s easy to license them. Roy
@jeffhutchins7048Ай бұрын
@fmgpubs There's specific exceptions BECAUSE they're Curio & Relics. No licensing necessary. If you have one and are not sure check the C&R list on them to clarify.
