That’s what I love about them. So much you can do, and parts are so readily available. Have you done anything yet? In December I bought a 2022 Gladiator Rubicon because their new models were coming in and I got it for $8k under MSRP. So far I’ve done a Tonneau Bed Cover, both front and rear bumpers, and 12,000lb synthetic winch. From the research I’ve done, sounds like you can put 35s on without a lift. I only have 2K miles on my truck, and I’m not into wasting money, so I’m going to wait until these factory tires are good and used before going bigger. But when that time comes, definitely going bigger. Other than that, got a screen protector for the media center, Jeep floor mats, and a 12 volt adapter that sits flush and doesn’t protrude to where you can still close the cover. Oh! And an OLED Nintendo Switch that doesn’t leave my truck, with a Pro Controller and a 12 volt power adapter

And remember to change that ZF 8 speed automatic transmission fluid and filter every 30,000 miles, just as the CEO of ZF said. It's best to use Amsoil Fuel-Efficient ATF, instead of the MOPAR ATF for 8 and 9 speed automatic transmissions.
@GulagPapi Жыл бұрын
I just got a 9speed cherokee at 130k miles. The car was maintained in AMAZING shape but i doubt the driver ever changed the fluid or filter. Would it be safe to change either now? Or should i just leave it alone since it might rely on the dirt build up now?
@TimJoseph08031990 Жыл бұрын
@@GulagPapi It shouldn't hurt. Modern automation transmissions even have sensors to even detect if the transmission fluid is very dirty with the engine malfunction light or check engine light. In that case the ATF and/or filter needs to be changed. Scotty Kilmer did do a video on the Check Engine Light on, in which the transmission had an issue by using the scan tool.
@GulagPapi Жыл бұрын
@@TimJoseph08031990 yea i just watched a video on a 8/9speed specialist and he confirmed the same thing. Basically the filter doesnt need to be changed because it will wear with the transmission regardless. But a drain and fill of the fluid every 8 years would extend it the best. Luckily i have a 30k mile warranty. So next month im gonna have them cover it😎😎🤔

The ZFHP8 is a great transmission . . . you find it in BMW's and other high end cars . .better than the HP6's which are solid enough but over time the seals between the valve body and the gearbox leak and the gearbox will get rough - although the seals are cheap and not that difficult to replace. Change the transmission fluid every 50K for longevity.

Nice video, Scotty, thank you. I special ordered a 2021 Jeep Rubicon Gladiator (in 2021 of course) with all the bells and whistles and the standard V6 with the automatic transmission, paid MSRP, no extra dealer markup. It has been a great vehicle, no issues at all, surprisingly smooth and well-mannered handling. I absolutely agree about the idiotic start-stop "feature", what a stupid idea, it reminds me of the "automatic" seat belts that were installed on cars in the late 70's, the government trying to force us to behave! I installed a start-stop eliminator in my Gladiator, problem solved! Amazing that we have to pay extra to get rid of some stupid, lame "feature" that the government tries to jam down our throats!

the problem with those diesels is, they were designed for Europe and are used extensively there with few problems. Europe doesn't require the EGR and DEF nonsense that the USA mandates, so those engines have to be adapted to US spec, and they can't run with all that extra heat that the emissions crap creates. As for the Jeep, I'd like to see them come out with a two-door version with a bigger bed, rather like their old J10 pickup.

One bad thing about the chrysler engines is plastic coolant parts. I've seen several engines blow do to overheating because these plastic parts fail. I'd recommend changing plastic thermostat housings every 50k miles or 5 years. Which is a good time to do a flush anyway. Just my 2 cents worth.

I JUST bought a 2016 cherokee that has a ZAF 9 speed transmission. I only did it because i hear zaf makes the same trans for toyota and honda minivans, and that week scotty made a video talking about how in 2016 fiat didnt ruin jeep yet. But now it feels AMAZING knowing that he’s also backing the same tranny here🤣🤣

This gladiator has an 8 speed. The cherokee has a 9 speed. Two different transmissions but both made by ZF. The 9 speed is for front wheel drive vehicles. The 8 speed is for rear drive vehicles. As someone who owns both, the 8 speed is much smoother and shifts much quicker. (21 ram 2500 with 6.4). The zf9 isn't bad though imo (2019 cherokee with 2.0). The zf9 has a bad reputation due to poor performance in earlier versions of it. I cannot speak on the reliability of the zf9 yet.

@@Jay-ns5ub fast forward and it died after 170k miles. Come to find out when I bought it, the OG owner got EVERYTHING replaced brand new, but Skimped out on a transmission filter change. I got a good 30k miles out of her before she died Though
@Jay-ns5ub Жыл бұрын
@@GulagPapi the ZF9 has to be dropped from the vehicle and opened up in order to change the Trans filter. The fluid is easy to do a drain and fill though. There is a built In drain plug. Bummer yours died. I wonder if the original owner ever changed the Trans fluid on it. Jeep claims the trans fluid is a "lifetime" fluid. To them, "lifetime" probably means warranty period. I change mine every 50k despite what jeep recommends.

Keep in mind those 3.6 v-6 engines are known to have oil cooler issues. They like to leak a lot as they get older
@brotha1984 Жыл бұрын
Yeah the first and second gen not the third gen like the 2016 engines and up been redesign
@patrickfeketitsch6111 Жыл бұрын
i mean every engine ever made has some design flaw or issue. with these v6s problems are not very common but can happen like most engines.
@jt9411 Жыл бұрын
I think that's from people overtighting the oil cap. The housing it screws into is plastic. Mine has 93,000 with no leaks.

Scotty I get better fuel economy in my 2019 challenger RT. My wife and I just went to Florida running about 80 with me playing and I still got 19 plus MPG.. I think the 5.7 would be a better choice for this vehicle. Less taxing on the motor vs a smaller 6 cylinder unless Stallantis wants to make an inline

Scotty, there's a button right below the infotainment screen that turns the stop-start "feature" off...only until you restart the car.

I hate that. I really wish you could really turn it off. Half the time I forget after starting it.

i think something that size should have a small v8 . not a big fan of the pentastar 6 seems like it would like lack end torque but it does have a 6 speed but don't pull with it.

Its just great that the wrangler now has a very capable alternative aside from the old fj cruiser. Jeep tends to focus too much on extreme offroading and leave out the driveability and practicality for some. As much as I like jeep wranglers, these new ford broncos tend to be more practical to many drivers. Better for daily driver, high speed and long distance travels. I find it hard to think if jeep would change their principles and make a daily driver version of wrangler, having an IFS. Thats why its a win win for the offroading world having the new broncos. No need to wait for jeep or toyota to make some innovations.
