This is my 10th Jeep since buying my 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon new in early 2021. I've taken it from Maryland to New York and back down tru PA in the worst weather. Not once did I ever need 4WD. Fuel mileage in the city 16.5 and 22.6 on the highway. The only problem I've had was 2 weeks ago. the AUX battery gave up at 5:30 in the morning. I attached my pocket jump starter and it started up. I picked up both batteries at Advance Auto and installed them in about 2 hrs. We also own a new 2021 Jeep Grand cherokee Trailhawk and neither have any issues. Change the oil and filter every 5,000 with Pennsoil Platinum and rotate the tires and thats it. We wouldn't own anything but a Jeep!! We do our own service and give them a good wash every week. Keep up your great video's John

@gordie23773 ай бұрын
I just bought a brand new 2024 Wrangler Rubicon a month ago, for over $50K. With only 1500 miles on it, it's now sitting at the dealer w/transmission problems, a manual transmission no less. In the meantime, I've got a $700 car rental bill, and until a Jeep Rep recognizes the issue and approves the repair, I can't get a loaner vehicle, nor have them cover my present rental bill. Then I've got to worry about the repair itself, and will they repair it? 😡 Also too, I've had too many bad experiences when it comes to dealer mechanics doing soddy work, like in leaving bolts, hoses, etc. off. Every time I bring my vehicle in for any kind of service work, I inspect and check everything, including the oil level and such after which. They've either overfilled or underfilled my engine oil in the past. Case in point, I use to own a 2018 JL, and when the model came out in 2018, they changed the oil capacity of the 3.6L V6 from 6 quarts to around 5. The dealership I went to for an oil change uses some kind of a computerized oil fill system, and the software apparently wasn't upgraded for the new JL models, and so they were overfilling the engine w/a quart of extra oil. Checking the oil level I could easily see that it was overfilled. What an argument I had w/the service manager about it, w/him saying not to worry about it. I was able to get him to drain the oil and only put 5 quarts in. Sure, enough it was at the full line. Jeep finally sent out a specification update on the engine for the owner's manual, to me no less, and not the dealer at the time, and sure enough, I was right. I bought the notice in to the service manager to show him. Apparently, he hadn't received anything as of yet at the time.

My neighbor has a 200k+ mile JK He bought brand new and it’s still on the original engine and gearbox. I’ve had Toyotas and Jeep Wranglers and now I have a Gladiator. Personally I’ve had more issues with Toyota specifically transmission related. My two gripes with my Gladiator: 1) Chrysler, please knock it off with the damn plastic oil cooler housing. You know it’s bad and will crack. Put a metal one instead and save us the headache. This issue applies to all 3.6 powered MOPAR vehicles. 2) the aux battery is annoying to get to. @Jason-Samko3 ай бұрын
My best advice is spend a little time on the internet on KZbin learning to negotiate with car deals. Once you have these tactics down it's time to hit AutoTrader cars.com and CarGurus find a vehicle you like, and then start calling dealers to get the best price. I would think right now 20 to 30% off on a Jeep would be very doable
@BrashAdventures3 ай бұрын
Terrible design engine for maintenance though. Gotta take the intake off to change the spark plugs, and why are they still going with the plastic oil filter housing when they know they're prone to crack. Other than that, it's been reliable for me in my 2014 Grand Cherokee, but I was cursing the engineers in trying to fix it.
@Jason-Samko3 ай бұрын
Love how easy oil changes are on jeep and rhe plastic oil filer has been around for along time and doesn't fail unless someone screws or up. Even the amazing 3rd gen tacoma uses a plastic oil filter housing. And they are cheap if you want to buy a spare incase you do over tighten it and break it. But owned 2 vehicles with plastic and never a concern

What about the JL corrosion issue? I have a 2022 Wrangler Rubicon with very low mileage and it is starting to show corrosion blisters on the edges of the hood. If Jeep's were put together correctly that problem would not exist. All they need to do is to paint or add gaskets between the steel hinges and the aluminum body panels. They have had since 2018 to fix this problem! To me this kind of unresolved problem is not a hallmark of good reliability. In addition the 5 year corrosion warranty is crap. The part has to corrode thru the metal for the warranty to kick in.
@Jason-Samko3 ай бұрын
The warranty does not require rust thru. Jeep has made it very clear thst if you have any paint bubbling or corrosion signs they will replace the doors hood hinges etc with new ones thst are zinc plated and repaint everything. Jeep is taking care of it all and has been.

All of my friends are Toyota fan boys and of all the breakdowns on the trail, it’s always been a Toyota. Never a jeep. I too am sick of hearing about jeep issues when they just don’t seem to exist these days.

I've been shopping for a gladiator lately and the willys with rear locker is tye best I can afford right now but with 3.73 gearing to put any bigger tire I'll have to regear and that's another 2k to 3k so with that I'm thinking I could get a base sport and add 2 to 3 hundred on top of that 2k to 3k and I could have 4.88 gearing with front and rear lockers. I could spend the extra and get a rubicon but to run 37s you still need to regear the 4.10 to at least a 4.56 and that's another 2k to 3k. I could care less about gadgets, I just want a gladiator with at least 4.56 or 4.88 gearing on 37s with lockers. A basic radio and heater and comfort driver seat is all the gadgets I care about. I also am on the fence about buying today or waiting until the 2025 hit the lot and possibly get a better deal then. If you've read my long story and have advice it and you would be appreciated. Jeep Wranglers used to be acceptable because even though the quality was just mediocre, the car itself was cheap enough so that one could add aftermarket parts as the OEM stuff wore out. Now, it's so expensive, mediocre quality is no longer good enough. THey have priced themselves out of their traditional customer market, and they are not going to attract the new people with serious money because those people demand better quality.

If it’s on par with 4-runner build quality why don’t they last as long (mileage)?
@Jason-Samko3 ай бұрын
who says they dont. And I have both sitting right here in my drive way. I promise you if you take the toyota blinders off, the quality is equal. its plain as day. just look at it like the guys that used to blind fold you and as you if you drank coke or pepsi. samething. as for the miles. both motors are amazing and the 4 runner has the edge in lonegevity, but the jeep has the edge in cheap parts and repair cost so those become a wash. Toyota repairs are insanely expensive. also remeber 4 runners spend 99% on pavement. Jeeps do not. They live a hard life of rough use.
