The Watchmen was great and everyone tried to mimic it like Rob Liefeld and others, but the problem is they didn't understand WHY Watchmen was great, they just assumed people liked it because it was dark and that's all a comic needed to be good at the time. Twisted Metal could work as a "Tales From the Crypt" anthology show, the PS2 version had some morbidly disturbing stories with their characters and as a live action show, they can tie some common events in each episode, but at the end, someone different wins (or thinks they win) and a different ending unfolds, leaving you wondering what was real and what isn't, basically Twisted Metal Black's entire premise.

5:38 Drew Gooden made a video about the writer’s strike that might answer your questions here. His video was mostly focused on the issues surrounding how the film industry handles their treatment of writers in general, but given the issues he talked about of writers not being given sufficient context, payment, being quickly tossed out so they can’t advise the actual production of shows and movies that they work on in order to cut costs on writer’s wages, it’s very easy to imagine how tired, stressed, mishandled and mistreated writers can easily start making a lot of mistakes with more complex scripts, especially ones involving very subtle elements like comedic timing and such.

From what I understand the main male part can be quite tough and rather chewy when cooked at high temperatures such as grilling or pan frying. Add some fresh herb at the end like sage and I would probably suggest serving it with something like potato mash or a warmed cauliflower confit, kinda like the traditional English dish of Bangers and Mash? A proper adaptation of the Twisted Metal franchise (video games and comics) is the furthest thing from a mainstream, PG show. All the characters are based on different mental disorders and the backstory of some of the characters is absolutely beyond brutal. It deals with very heavy emotional subjects like guilt, grief, trauma and unaliving and just the capacity for human beings to be absolute evil monsters and it doesn't hold back on the mental imagery. A proper adaptation would be amazing but society ain't ready for it. And probably only HBO could do it well, not hecking Peacock.

I'm in the same boat as you , Charlie. As a guy who loved reading sci fi novels as a kid I always wanted Isaac Asimov's Foundation to be made into a film or a show. Then recently they actually did it and I was excited, although given the way tv is these days I was a bit worried about what they'd do with it. Turns out I was right to be worried as they completely destroyed it. Couldn't even finish it I was so angry and disappointed.

The depraved stories conjured up in the Twisted Metal series always seemed to fit a world like HBO's "OZ". Twisted Metal has unlimited possibilities just within it's simple story of wish fulfillment. man hearing Charlie bring up The Witcher and the 3rd season about to come out just has me fuming again about how dirty the EP and writers did Henry Cavill (i'll never get over that "anonymous" hit piece from a "source" on the set that Deadline put out about him trying to paint him as toxic and sexist on set but the worst tangible credible slight they had against him was...he really liked the source material and wanted to stay true to it...and he liked to play video games in his free time on set...the nerve!) and how much disdain they have for the Witcher franchise in general. Nothing against Thor's brother, but i really hope for everyones sakes The Witcher (and all its even worse spin offs) gets cancelled fast after season 3 ends.

Twisted Metal Black would have been a great game to use for inspiration on a series. Interesting fun dark back stories with a twist at the end for each character.
@AluminumFusion22 Жыл бұрын
Twisted Metal Black is a super dark variation of the Twisted Metal universe and may not jive well with general audiences. Black came out back in 2001, when Marilyn Manson was still respected and we were just coming off the late 90's grunge scene, not to mention there're scenes in Black that may be controversial now. I'd personally be content with them adapting the tone from Twisted Metal 2, a heavy metal vibe with a dose of absurd dark humor. The series would be good as an anthology series, which each episode revolving around a specific racer.

I totally agree. I felt the same way about The Witcher when it got announced. I wasn't really into many TV shows, and the few Netflix productions I seen were good (Dark, Black Mirror, Stranger Things, and literally that's about it). So after I played about 200+ hours in Witcher 3, finishing the first 2 games, and reading all the books twice, I was super excited we were getting a Series, and even with Henry Cavill and the interested he showed for the source material, I thought "what could go wrong?". This is how I felt with Amazon’s adaptation of Wheel of Time. It became pretty clear they didnt actually read past the first book, as they started making changes (while sidelining the author that the ORIGINAL author, Robert Jordan, chose to finish the series after he died of cancer, halfway through the production of the first season) which makes subsequent character arcs virtually impossible on top of core changes to the characters that are flat out character assassinations. It was flat out depressing to watch.
