When Matt told Ellie, "I'm here for you".......If any father has proven that statement to be true, Matt is that dad. I love the amount of effort Matt has put into this project...not because it is a car...but because it is Ellie's dream....and he is making her dream come true. 100% Dad of the Year material for sure.

This brings back memories of bleeding brakes with my dad when I was a kid. The memory that stands out the most is how much my leg would burn from the work out lol

I have done that by my self takes a while but gravity will do it just keep master cylinder full. Crack open. Bleeder and fill up a jar with brake fluid. Then do the pump it up ceack the bleeder with helper to make sure and get tiny air bubbles but pedalnis food before that. Bleed pump and crack bleeder on all wheel several times after pedal is good to make sure tiny air bnb pockets get pushed out. Like your project. I have a 1960 ranchero

Nice idea to change out the "suicide" master. Much safer modification by having separate fluid lines for the front and rear; in case of hydraulic failure on one side; you can still stop with the use of the fluid on the side that didn't all drain out. Nice habit to bench bleed the new master cylinder every time. Beautiful job!

Eeeeks I have an old chevy 1962 and Im heavily considering replacing the original master cyl with a new one but exactly the same? Why are these bad or aka "Suicide" master? Im new to Mechanic stuff but really wanna try to keep as much original on it as I can! Thanks!
@MrYogi12Bear3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnLee-bd6rv Because if a hard line, rubber line, wheel cylinder blows or develops a leak, the pedal goes to the floor. With a few quick pumps all the fluid is gone and so are the brakes. If you have a working E-brake and quick wit, that may be enough to save the day. With a dual circuit master you have fronts and rears ran on separate bowls. So you may lose some braking power, but you should have enough to safely stop.

Hi Ellie. I thought you were going to add a booster, but you went with manual instead. Might not be a bad idea for your first car so you can "feel" the brake with your leg. Great job on the lines and bleeding fluid out. That is a pain!

Love the channel. Working on my 4 door 1965 falcon wagon. Could you tell me the model dual master you used? Looks like it was a drop in mount.

Thanks so much! Yes, it went right in. Now, the one we got was for front and rear drums, but we got it at Advance Auto and I just searched for a 1967 mustang dual master. shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/wearever-remanufactured-brake-master-cylinder-10-1378/5350433-P Good luck with your project!!

ANY CHANCE to upgrade to a 4 wheel disc setup to make this car completely safe? I THOUGHT a lot of early mustang stuff came from the Falcon.
@TheInsaneShecklador2 жыл бұрын
4 wheel disc is overkill for a car like this. Rear drums are perfectly acceptable. Even front drums are not terrible unless they get overheated or driven through standing water.

Nice work on bleeding the brakes. I thought you said in previous episode that there was a booster for the brakes. Maybe I miss understood.
@ElliesGarage4 жыл бұрын
We got a booster with a bunch of other parts when we got the car, but it actually wouldn't fit. It was too big even before we tried to get the new master cylinder on there.
@steamy12254 жыл бұрын
@@ElliesGarage Keep in mind that manual brakes like the ones on your Falcon will have a firmer pedal and a bit harder to push , unlike the boosted ones. So in other words , don't wait till the last moment to apply the brakes. You will get used to it after a while . Great work .
@williamvannoy13364 жыл бұрын
A couple of tips for the brakes putting the cap on the master cyl. If you will slow the flow while you're transferring it from bench to the car, you can do what is called reverse bleeding with stubborn brake systems (like the Harley clutch) using a syringe to push fluid towards the master and bleeding at the line at the master cyl. Also a way to keep from running dry is to use a long piece of hose back to the master so that it recirculates the clean fluid and bubbles are separated in the cyl. reservoir! And a link for fluid differences! blog.amsoil.com/dot-3-and-dot-4-brake-fluid-whats-the-difference/
