I'm a teacher in the UK. A lot of this stuff - I'd say 95% is simply coming from the internet. @@jleon6x yeah, even 30 to 35 years ago we could afford a house and family as a working stiff. I don't think it's a left/right thing. I'm a Carpenter of 30 years. When I started in the late 80s the guys who taught me had 25 to 30 years experience. They made 25 to 30 dollars and hour. In 1987 that wasn't too bad. It was basically middle class. Now that I have 30 plus years under my belt myself and many others struggle to find a job that will pay 25 dollars an hour. Also most of these jobs no longer offer health benefits etc... They're sub contract mostly so the owners are off the hook for those added expenses. Everything around me costs twice, or more what it did in the 80s but my wage has been stagnant for at least 30 something years. The company owners used to live in nicer houses than us workers and drive nicer trucks. Now they live next door to people like Patrick. I'm certainly not on the left of politics at all but I can't deny what's slapping me in the face every day. My strength is in working. I'm the first one at the job and the last one to leave. Many days someone has to tell me, hey, it's lunch time. Time to eat. I don't watch the clock . Unfortunately now with the Putin gas hikes,(sarcasm) I'm now spending about a days pay( take home) per week on gas to get myself and tools to work. Ha, in the USA many people now want me to pay for school for kids like this. 👍 Good times.

I think part of the tragedy here is that these young people cannot accept that things change and sometimes there is nothing you can do about it. This young lady can cry about floods in Pakistan impacting 30 million people, but part of climate change indicates that the Sahara will actually begin to green again and support more people. Yes, ocean levels will rise, but then you don't have to live on the coast. She worries about people's cost of living but doesn't realize that renewable energy (not really as renewable as she thinks) is actually less affordable and quite destructive to the ecosphere. These young people have such little perspective because of their experience level. I hope they will realize that some of older folk might actually have a bit of knowledge and wisdom and when we say don't cry yourself to sleep at night over this because you will be fine, they might take that counsel.

Because I know, despite what she says, she has no idea what it's like to live with the pressure of real responsibility, to know that your family's health and well-being depends on your ability to provide. These kids think that we don't care about the environment and climate as well?! I have two young kids. We care!
