I Kinda Sorta Bought a Jeep LJ from Alabama

In this video I venture to two offroad parks in one day, something I don't think I've ever done before... Either way it'll be an adventure. My first stop is to AOP Adventure Offroad Park in South Pittsburg Tennessee where I'll be picking up a surprise kinda sorta Jeep LJ from Alabama... Yes, its from Jake Burkey, apparently he had a customer who just needed the Jeep LJ for the tub and the title. Pretty much everything else is there and thats exactly what I need for the J4U Jeep FC Project!! After that I head to Windrock where the Busted Knuckle boys are filming their Death Wish Show. We'll hang out with them for a while and get a little sneak peek into what Josh has up his sleeve for this next series.

Those car conversions are awesome! I especially love the El Dorado. I have an old '71 El Camino SS with a 396 and 1-ton GMC running gear. My Dad, my best buddy and I put it together back in the high school days- which were longer ago than we'll discuss here ; ). It'll eat my Jeep's lunch any day of the week and tow it back to the trailhead after. On the downside, it gets 6-7 mpg and it's got old school Detroit's front and rear, so it's kind of a trailer queen. Still, it's wicked fun. Looking forward to seeing more of those Busted Knuckle guys; that's just good. clean fun.

Many more benefits to this approach is who ever wins it. Will not have to deal with one off custom items. They can go to any auto parts store and get parts when needed. If the winner wants to do additional mods the aftermarket world is full of choices. Good call Matt.

Is there a build vid for that roll cage? I wanted to do that exact thing for my XJ. I wanted to use the seat belt bolt locations to secure a cage just like that. I want to have that bar across the back to attach my 5 point harness shoulder straps too.

(3:15) Looks like an M37, roughly 1957 Korean War truck with a Dodge in-line 4-cylinder engine. My dad had one when I was a kid. Gutless engines, but geared really low. Top speed of about 55 mph.

That was an M37 on the semi trailer. Vietnam era, likely a ~1966 model year. Basically the original Power Wagon.

Got a question for ya Matt. What would be the best way to clean a AX-15 out of the truck? I bought one and its muddy. Can I just take it to the spray and wash and hose the mud off? I plan on covering the shifter hole to avoid water getting in and the input areas. Thanks

Hey bubba check out "Lizard Skin" for sound deadening / insulation an it also seals any of the metal from corrosion. It is a roll / spray on pretty much like a bed liner. I think they also have like a stick on panels or sheets

hey matt, if youre using that engine the OPDA needs to be changed to an aftermarket unit right away or you risk ruining the cam shaft, known issue that chrystler did a "recall" for they didnt fix anything just stuck a new problematic part on to replace the old problematic part, 90$ for one here in canada take the factory sensor out and use that throw the aftermarket sensor in the bucket its guaranteed problems

@@bleepinjeep i used the crown automotive part off of amazon and my factory sensor, its a pretty simple swap you wont need a right up with your skills, take the two torx screws off the top and turn the engine until the hole in the disk lines up with the large hole in the case this will put you right at tdc cylinder 1, at this point theres on 1/2" bolt thats holding down the assembly with a little fork remove that and pull the opda out itll rotate 1/13th of a turn on the way out notice how its clocked when it becomes free, insert the new unit in that orientation, itll come with a pin holding the alignment holes in place set it in so it ends up clocked in the same position as before and with the holes lines up, theres only 13 teeth you can put it on so if youre off by one tooth itll be very noticeable, should be a 15 minute job lots of right ups on it with how to mark it more pricely and line it back up if you lost timing ect but just pull the old one out in a know position and clock and put the new one in the same position and clock, theres a flat drive at the bottom for the oil pump if this gets moved you may need to shine a light and line it up with a flat blade screwdriver so the opda will slot into it
