Let’s knit a super Cute and Actually wearable Coffee Break Cardigan (My Own Pattern!).
I designed this sweater with just 2 panels and 2 sleeves and it was knitted in under 8 hours on One Sentro 48 pin circular knitting machine!
I did ALL THE RIBBiNG on the knitting machine and I show you how to do the ribbing slowly step by step.
#knittingmachinesweater #pinterestinspired #sentroknittingmachine
This sweater was made with just 3 skeins of Red Heart Super Saver Yarn! I would really recommend buying at least 4 skeins I was tying all my little strands together to finish the bottom edge of the ribbing.
Let’s find out what this viral knitting machine is all about.

Cute sweater, I love how this yarn looks in a cardigan, I will try it. I've had major issues trying to use RHSS yarn on the Sentro machine, so much so I had to wash the yarn ahead of time just to use it... lots of dropped stitches or missed stitches. I don't bother using that yarn with my machine anymore. I even tried dryer sheets to try to reduce the static.

Thank you so much for watching and your lovely comments! I would use some waste yarn to start and end each panel. The rib can be done the same way you do, with the waste yarn still on but with the knitted panel taken off the machine. When the ribbing is done, remove the waste yarn and finish the edge with crochet hook of the size stipulated on the skein band, using a slip stitch. It makes for a nice even and tidy edge. I do love the style of your cardigan though and I think you did rather fantastic considering how long you’ve had your machine for! 👍❣️🌹

It looks like as usual, the fiddly bits that aren’t as much fun (ribbing, lifeline, seams) take up as much time as the knitting. 🤷🏼‍♀️. But how amazing to get all that knitting done so quickly! For someone with arthritis, this would make knitting possible again! It’s just so funny that the panels can be done so quickly and so evenly! I’ve subscribed even though I don’t have a machine yet. Sometimes I just craft vicariously!
@StephanieBCreativity
@StephanieBCreativity Жыл бұрын
Oh I know what you mean about crafting vicariously! Lol- there’s only so much time in a day. Yes! The knitting machine really does make it easier to knit quickly in many ways. It is limited in the size of the stitches though because of the needle size. So, there are trade offs to be worked with. I’m a bit weird I guess- the fiddly bits are still kind of fun- ☺️ thank you so much for watching and subscribing! I really appreciate you being here.

Hi there! I am so happy you are here! Ribbing and lifeline set just skills- you can do them too. Just go slow and stay focused on what you’re doing at the moment. I really am enjoying all the projects that I’m coming up with- today is the last day of my 2 week no buy! So tomorrow is yarn restocking day. On my little 22 pin Sentro I’m having that same problem of only light weight yarns running smoothly with tension. I can’t run any thing bigger than a 3. My big machine seems to much more accommodating right now. I do see getting an Addi 22 pin in my future though. On my 48 pin Sentro it really seems to be learning the dance of tension control to run the heavier 4s. The Red Heart Super Saver seems to be working with very few tucked stitches or dropped stitches. I’m still really new with knitting machines but I have been knitting and crocheting for most of my life. I look forward to your next comment! Cheers

Great sweater design. I am an actual knitter. I keep wondering how to make the ribbing neater, like it was actually knitted with knitting needles. Every video I have seen, all look the same. Ribbing is suppose to be tighter than the actual knitted fabric. At least in actual knitting from needles. Do you have any ideas to tighten the ribbing? Thank you for your sharing.
@StephanieBCreativity
@StephanieBCreativity 9 ай бұрын
Thank you! I appreciate you watching and you comment. Yup! I’m a hand knitter first too. The ribbing being done by hand would be the best method to get a tighter rib. This was the first project I did after a hat on the knitting machine so I was challenging myself big time to complete a sweater on the machine from start to finish. I still love it but I’m thinking of frogging the ribbing and doing it over by hand to tidy it up.

Hi Stephanie, how do you make the body of the sweater wider on the machine (for a larger size)? Great tutorial!
@StephanieBCreativity
@StephanieBCreativity Жыл бұрын
Oh my, this is totally off the top of my head and I have NOT done any of these modifications. First get your measurements and add how much ease you need - then make a 12 “ long full width panel as a swatch and measure it to figure out how many panels you would need. If you need 2 more panels I think I would make 1 for the back between the 2 panels from the neck down and then make 2 panels that are 1/2 the width of the full panel and then put a half panel on the sides under the arm to make the arm hole bigger. And add a 1/2 width panel to the sleeves to add more width. Good luck!!

I wasn't meaning anything negative. How can we tighten it up via the knitting machine? I would really like to know how to do it. When using a sock loom and ribbing, it looks like it was hand knit. I wonder why the machine looks different.
@StephanieBCreativity
@StephanieBCreativity 9 ай бұрын
I didn’t take it as negative at all. 😊 I think it looks different on the loom because we can more easily adjust the tension and we can knit and pearl as we go just like regular knitting. On the machine we have to go back and reverse the columns to the opposite so working on it he machine knitted fabric we are loosing the tension. There may be tricks that others know but I haven’t figured out how to keep the ribbing tighter.

Thank you so much for this tutorial!! I have a question though. I want to make a sweater dress size 3X .. is there a way to connect two panels without it having a harsh blunt line? The first panel I made isn’t wide enough for the front
@StephanieBCreativity
@StephanieBCreativity 6 ай бұрын
I’m thinking out loud here- I haven’t tried this - maybe making the seams a design feature would be best- knitting the front and back with 3 panels - so you can have 2 vertical seams balanced so you aren’t running one seam down the middle from the neck to hem. Maybe making the middle panel full width and the side panels a bit narrower(to equal the size of the 2 back panels) to make the front of the dress. You could do 2 panels in the back with a single seam. Hope that helps get you thinking of ways to make it work.

I can’t knit but can do this! Sounds like you want to deprive those of being able to do this? I am 79 and now I can make scarves and beanies for my great grandchildren. You really owe Stephanie an apology for your rude attitude. To each their own, to their own capabilities.

@@StephanieBCreativityI apologize Stephanie, I don’t ever respond to negative comments, but I took this personally as you are only trying to help us do something that I, ** and I’m sure many of us older ones too ** , wouldn’t be able to do without you! “Dat-nab-it” ! 🙀😻
