I Landed at the Wrong Airport

A short story when I flew a 1946 Ercoupe from Kalispell, Montana to Lake Hood, Alaska and landed at the wrong airport.

I landed at a cranberry bog in Wisconsin. I thought it was the grass strip I was headed to. It had a wind sock and everything. Now though, in the days of Foreflight if you land at the wrong airport. You should probably analyze how and why. That shouldn’t happen.

Enjoyed this story - thank you! Also - what caught my attention about it? My dad, back in the 1970's owned an Ercoupe. I've tried finding it through FAA records/registrations, but have not been successful. I may just call the FAA and ask for help. All the best to you Kaden and the new owner!

I had my Ercoupe ferried half way across Canada (from Ontario to B.C.) back in 1979....It has made that crossing back and forth at least twice since 1985....I don't know where it is now as I haven't flown since 1985.....415C,- CF-RGD ....( I was swindled out of the 'plane just prior to 1985, it was without a doubt the best example flying in Canada, all original, polished with yellow fabric wings.....)

Nice work! I ferried a Cessna 185 from Lake Hood to Phoenix last August. Our first fuel stop was Yakutat! I trust that you were greeted by a nice lady bearing cookies?
