Yes, it wouldn’t kill the challenge just make it more realistic. Dropping ghosts with medivacs will get bigger nuke payoffs!

Oh, Ghosts actually do have the same vision as an Overlord! Ghosts and most flying units have 11 in sight (10 for Oracles), while other ground units only have 9. Carriers/BC's/Brood Lords have 12 and Overseers/Observers in pervert mode have 13.75. The only thing I could find that trumps that is the mommaship with a whopping 14 in sight. 12 years later and we still learn new things about SC2 regularly ^^

makes sense. Ghosts are supposed to be scouts and spies, and in Brood War they had the ocular implant upgrade to give them increased vision range, which gave them a sight range of 11 as well!

For anyone wondering, uThermal didn't make it through the knockout stage at Valencia. He qualified in the first group stage where he crushed his group including a 2-0 over Scarlet. In the second group stage he comfortably got through again even with a very high quality group but didn't place high enough to go straight into the round of 16, instead he met special in the round of 24. Special, who actually dropped into the loser's knockout round, won his knockout game to come back to play in the round of 24 to play uThermal. 1st game was very fine margins, tank-viking-raven. Special narrowly won a big fight outside uThermal's base which sealed the win. 2nd game started similarly, tank-viking-raven comps. Special made one liberator which basically won him the game. 3rd game was a two base timing attack from uThermal with marine-tank-raven which looked like a masterstroke gameplay as he emp'd Special's tanks and the marines were able to push forward. Unfortunately, Special's rallying units were enough to hold it. Well done uThermal, Ro24 at the International Dreamhack isn't bad going.

I've watched Starcraft (and SC2) tourneys for many years....but I only recently discovered these cheesey series and completely fell in love with them. Ghost to GM is by far my fav tho since I've always fantasized about doing the exact same concept myself but never had the real SC2 skills to pull it off (I'm a diamond player.... at best! lol). Anyway, so make a long story short... UThermal is now my all-time favorite SC2 player and I'm going to be rooting for you above all others when I watch tourneys now. - New big fan -

I was a Husky Starcraft fan way back, came back to watch a LowKo vid, then found Harstem and loved his first person series and banter, but the uThermal bubbly joy of playing is just infectious. These blank to GM series are all brilliant, give enough time to really get into the idea and almost feel like you are playing along, and something to look forward to in the next episode.

If you haven't already you should check out Harstems youtube aswell. He does a lot of similar stuff with challenges etc, has hosted some fun tournaments like SC in 2x speed, right now a 3v3 tournament where pro's play in archon mode against each other

I am going to say it on all of these from now on, this needs to be a permanent series. Once you get to what would be a finale, give it a couple weeks then do an episode, then a few more and another episode. Then when the season resets redo it like a season 2 of the series and go hardcore up to GM level until they unlock the GM.

Since you're not a number guy I just wanna point out the area that emp hits is 1.5*1.5*pi ~= 7.1 but with enhance shockwave it becomes 2*2*pi ~= 12.5 so around double the area. Now I can't say if that matters since maybe all the priority targets are within that 1.5 radius when you emp so I dunno if that'll change your mind about getting the upgrade Loving the series though keep up the great work!

37:30 You can shift click nukes with one ghost, no need to wait. Also if you nuke near you ghost you can shift click a move command and he might survive.

You never know, with that tech lab you could be going early siege tanks and medievacs to rush him with heavy seige and speed. *shrugs* Wait, what if you chain nuke? You nuke somewhere he knows you'll be, and you nuke the ghost that is nuking so when he runs over to kill the ghost, the second nuke will kill them all. XD

I don't know if you think it's not worth it, but I'd really like to see you sync all the nukes to as close to the exact same time as possible. Would be so hard to react to, and huge shock factor if they think it's just one or two nukes, and suddenly their entire economy is deleted.

The problem is that it's hard to have 5 viable nuke targets at the same time. By the time he has 5 nukes ready the opponent already sees that he's going mass ghosts and has detection covering most of their bases, so you can usually only target 2 bases or so at the edges, and the other ghosts just immediately get caught by detection.

Metal league tip : if nuking zerg from the side, send an SCV to half-build 2 ebays around the ghost before you fire the nuke, so lings can't surround it

new special request cheese - chain nuking all the zerg hatches just to keep them larvae starved as hell. Perhaps in combination with trying to nuke any overlord clusters XD oh man I think that would be a really fun watch. The best part is... you can't pull the larvae XD

larva and eggs do add to a unit's kill count. Unfortunate for zerg, nukes and libs hurt their production as well as harass. Even better if eggs pop right before the nuke lands.

It is totally cool just to nuke into creep too and clear tumors and hope for a sick move out of your opponent to walk his army across. Not all nukes have to be high reward against zerg.
