This former local bank branch in Spring City, Penn. was converted into a private home, replete with the two vaults now used as a full bar and a sauna.

It brings all sorts of thoughts to my mind, I can remember the feeling of being at my first real job years ago, and some of the places I worked as a young man. I think it would be a gas to have bought out one of those old places to create a home out of... especially the old mill building that was about 200, 000 sq feet! Thinking about owning and living in the place that was so influential yet was a place where I was the lowest of the low, just starting out... and where are the people who once were my bosses and owners? I'm sorry but what sort of IDIOT buys a bank and thinks that the VAULT, right, the most secure room in the whole of the building, HAS to be a bar? YOU HAVE A VAULT, USE IT PROPERLY. Damned thing should be a shelter/panic room. SMH.
@blackworldtraveler37118 жыл бұрын
If she can afford to buy a bank,convert it into a home and listed on historical registry I doubt she's an idiot. The bank itself is probably already built like a tank. And the bar can double as additional shelter anyway......you just go inside and close the door.
@30secondstomarsMBH8 жыл бұрын
BlackWorldTraveler Yeah, it can double as a bar, or you could fit it out a to be a survival shelter that doubles as a bar, rather than the other way around. What is the problem is the first thought. The first thought shouldn't be: Bank vault = bar it should be Bank vault = panic room THEN you think, and everyday use should be a bar. Her first thought was to show off, and to make it a bar. That's just stupid. It should be loaded with supplies, and then when she needs to go in, she has a phone and supplies and a loo, and can go in without having to worry about getting hurt. What's she gonna do when she goes in there? Drink alcohol get drunk and wait for it all to go away?
@blackworldtraveler37118 жыл бұрын
+30secondstomarsMBH She can just close and lock her front door like everyone else. Not you typical house door. It's a small town It's not a bank anymore. She will be fine.
@30secondstomarsMBH8 жыл бұрын
Brad Lee Firstly a panic room in a bank vault wouldn't be gotten to by anyone unless it's a crime gang. Secondly, everyone should have a panic room, especially in the US. There's no need for a gun, yet Americans have them, and with that threat, everyone should have a panic room. Thirdly, why not? It's a room in which you can shelter during an attack or disaster. It's another mechanism to keep you alive and help you survive, use it. Fourthly, being paranoid helps keep you alive numbnuts. Survivalism is about being prepared. If something happened WE'D be the ones staying alive during a disaster and you'd be the idiot civilian that we'd have to protect and help. Survivalism works, it's better to be prepared and be able to survive than to die and survivalists have found themselves in situations where they've had to use their training to save themselves and others. Don't discredit it.

+Brad Lee I have a safe room in my condo because of the tornados here in Oklahoma. It is a walk in closet with a safe built into the cabinet. It can be used as a type of safe room. When my niece is at home alone she runs inside and lock herself in and Wait for police if there's an intruder. Security system does the rest. But I don't plan for zombie apocalypse.

congratulations on a remarkable design job. Not everything I would've done, but what she did what tastefully well done according to her style. Hope she enjoys it for long.

A "waste of money" in your opinion. She obviously likes it, to her it is probably a fantastic use of her money.

This looks like a great place. The owner was smart to have scooped it up. Old buildings like this are a sound investment. I would gladly give up a backyard for a downtown place with this kind of style.
