This is a sad story. The eldest son and his mother were so close because they had the same kind spirit...a truthful one. His siblings seem to be more like the spirit of the dad. Sometimes when we think something is a loss including family, it really isn't. The eldest son gets to live his life peaceful without the messed up attitudes of his remaining family. There was no stalker or serial killer. The father would deflect the investigation in any way possible.

It’s sometimes too traumatic for the brain to process and I feel that’s what the siblings are going through.. I feel for David.. he can clearly remember things because he was older and that must be hard.. but he’s doing good standing by his mom.. sad story

It's sad when the man that is supposed to protect the family happens to be the one bringing chaos

I feel like as a parent when you stay with a partner who abusers your children, you force the children to stay in a situation where they are continually abused and you enable it to happen. I'm not blaming the victim, but when you know that your children are being abused and you let it happen for years, there's a lot that you could do to stop it Edit I am not trying to discredit the terrible psychological abuse that victims go through, nor do I think that victims should "just leave". However I'm coming at this from the perspective of the child who was continuously physically and sexually abused, which the other parent knew for years, and never did anything. I'm aware that in this case there was "only" physical abuse. But in many cases there is violent physical, sexual and psychological abuse of the children that goes on for years and years, and while only the parent who does the abusing is to blame, I understand a hundred percent that children in situations like these also feel betrayal about the other partners inability to act. If you know exactly that your partner is abusing, beating, or raping your children, then you are the only one who can save those children, and as a mother or as a parent, it should be your job to do that. This is not to say I don't understand the manipulation, the dependence that exists in most abusive relationships, ect, but a partner who stays silent and stays together with someone who beats, sexually assaults, and abuses their children, is enabling for that abuse to continue.

I hear what you're saying. Ironically, the abuser says EXACTLY the same thing.

This is why women need to live and be self-supporting BEFORE they marry!

It’s called emotional, physical, social, economical and spiritual bondage. It’s insidious at beginnings a relationship. But the bully picks that type of person. It’s very difficult to comprehend. Sadly, I had a sister married to an evil man. We’d free her after a terrible bout of abuse and she’d go back. It messed up their kids. The guy died of a mass heart attack. Thank God!

Unfortunately that kind of abuse strips you of your self esteem and too often renders you powerless. If you're not financially independent and have nowhere to go, leaving with 3 young children takes a lot of emotional energy. Some women fortunately get there eventually, but not all of them. It's always easier to say "I would have left". Until you experience it yourself, it's impossible to imagine what's it like.

He threw her away like trash. What a beast. With the evidence the police have you would think that would be enough to convince the children

I know what if feels like to be the sister, although she is wrong .I stood by my dad for years because I felt so sorry for him. He had a terrible father himself . I did some terrible things. Like I opened the car door when my mom tried to escape with us and he was able to jump in, ruining my relationship with everyone (I was ten and he gave me lots of special attention and stuff, as I was the outcast sibling.) No one died, but I just felt like he really needed me . My sisters were aghast when, as young adults who hadn’t heard from him in years I held his hand at his mothers funeral. But he never spoke to any of us otherwise, but he still expected to be recognized. Then one year I had a very high risk pregnancy , i was brutally sick and had constant high blood pressure and something was wrong with my baby, and we were told on a Friday when we went to a specialist appoint hours away (where I got even more sick with the traveling)to wait for results on the Monday for this big blood test. We pretty much just went and did things to distract ourselves. It was Father’s Day weekend. I totally forgot to call (I wasn’t allowed to stop by ever, he wouldn’t see me in person.) He wrote me a nasty letter. When I explained what happened he called me a “poor baby” sarcastically and told me I had to grow up and I should have handled a “f-Ing card at least.” He had absolutely no sympathy for what I was going through. It was only then that I realized he’s a sociopath and I was an idiotic empathetic person who gave my sympathy and love to the wrong person. I ruined everything supporting that wrong horse, just because I wanted to be a good daughter and my mom already had my sisters. Ugh. What an idiot.

I can understand how you’d blame yourself but it wasn’t your fault, you did what you felt was right at the time. I look back at different situations that I regret my actions or am embarrassed about and I know it’s hard! No matter what anyone says to you or about you, remember that you did the best that you could, with all of your heart. Big hugs sent to you. I also supported my father when everyone else distanced themselves from him, feeling sorry for him, and he ended up being so cruel to me that I finally had to let him go. I am still working on becoming the person I once was, having unconditional love for all, but it’s hard when you leave out one person. I hope everything worked out for you and your baby ❤️

You loved your Dad because it's your Dad, and then had the empathy for a devastatingly broken person to try and try, there's nothing to feel bad about and nothing anyone should judge you for. Now you need that same empathy for that little girl who had every right to love her father even though he didn't deserve it. You sound like a really good person I hope life gets better and better for you. xxx

If it's the case I don't understand how a mother, the one person who you spent the most vulnerable moments of your first stages of development inside of couldn't keep a door open for you if she knew the man SHE CHOSE to bring you up with was a manipulative shitstick. There is no excuse for your mum being toxic and favouring your siblings and pushing you away. On the other hand, have you tried to contact her and explain? I still find it unacceptable that she would hold a grudge over the door thing since you were so young and not fully capable of understanding the gravity of the situation.
