I love you, now die is the HBO documentary about Michelle Carter and Conrad Roy, who fell in love. While they only met in real life five times, they shared many text messages over a period of two years. Then, on July 13, 2014, Conrad Roy was found dead in his car. His death was found to be a case of carbon-monoxide intoxication, but when investigators discovered the text messages between the two teens they learn Carter had encouraged Roy to kill himself. After an investigation, Carter was arrested for involuntary manslaughter.

The friendship between these two men is incredible. To have the confidence to talk about such a topic and challenge each other's opinion is immense. Nice work TG.

I don't think that's much of a indication about the quality of their friendship (not that it isn't good), but more so of their intelligence on the topic and general maturity as blokes. Most people are too immature and ignorant to have a conversation like this that's worth being heard by thousands. Because I am sure many people speak about this kind of thing, but it's mostly just nonsense.

its so true - its so common as a young adult in the later half of high school and a bit after, to feel like things will 'always' feel hard; your brain is still developing, its almost impossible to think that things that seem SO important right at that moment simply will not matter in a few years time. I'm in my middle aged years now; it wasn't until i was about 30, things started to really 'click' in terms of how i felt about myself. Since then, life just gets better and better, the further away form the hellish teens and 20s (its not hell for anyone please dont think it will be the same for you or anyone else, that was just my experience :) ) the better life has been. i simply dont care about 'looks' or 'weight' or 'getting older' and all the trivial things that seemed so important years ago.

as a man who was in a relationship with a female that was so controlling i wasn't even aloud to have a mobile phone i believe its harder for a male to leave that kind of relationship in general, i was laughed at by many professionals in the nhs telling me to essentially man up and deal with it. People need to understand that for every male that is horrible to a female there is a female doing the same to the male it goes both ways and as a society this is the biggest thing people need to understand its not always the male causing all of the problems.

@@MarcusLT95 Yes there is. Raise awareness, educate people, fund & create services to catch abusers & support the victims, get the staff/people to take the issue seriously from both sexes. Encourage people to report suspected abuse, make people aware of red flags early on into a relationship, encourage discussion & take input from others about your partner's behaviour, reflect & analyze how you are treated. Also when predators & abusers are caught, make sure their case is throughly investigated, proof is collected & give them a decent punishment, including a good length of time in jail. There is a tonne of proactive steps people can take to reduce the problem of girls/women abusing boys/men. Idk if you are a victim or suffer from depression but I hope you reach out for help & get the support you deserve. If not then I hope I have helped you realize what can be done.

I wouldn’t say that “for every male abusing a woman, there is a woman doing the exact same thing” as men are abusive far more often than women are and women typically aren’t abusive to the same extent. This DOES NOT discredit your experience by any means. I really hope that you’re doing better now. Society seems to have these sexist ideals for both genders that can cause so much trouble. Your experience shouldn’t have been discredited simply because you were being abused by a minority that is often seen as the more oppressed and weaker gender. I really wish you all the best.

As a 18 year old boy who feels like he is eerily similar to this boy (not just being depressed but his characteristics as a whole), when you talked about him getting his captains license weeks before he died, Brain said how he didnt understand how he found that motivation in such a place. With a theory in mind and putting myself in his shoes, I would work as hard as possible in hopes that i feel alot better after acheiving this goal (almost as a last ditch effort in his mind to save himself), and if didnt feel that way after putting all that hard work into something + all the manipulation of this sick girl, i would only see it as a catalyst to his end. I never comment on stuff but this was a really good podcast and made me question alot of my own thoughts. keep up the good work!

@@canunlu1879 Then you probably had no mental health problems or big stress in your life if you can't remember being 15 or what happened. Not everyone is that lucky. It is complete bollocks that no-one has severe stress, responsibility or problems as a teenager. Minimizing people's problems doesn't help, it only ever makes people suppress stuff which comes out worse years later. Getting help & talking about problems means they don't pile up & your brain doesn't turn into a full pressure cooker. With mental health problems appropriate intervention is always best. Please do not spread your uneducated opinions around, I would hate for anyone to believe you & for it to negatively affect them, including not opening up to people & reaching out for support.

You two keep me a lot of company. Thanks guys, I’m pretty lonely so to hear you guys talk about transitioning from adolescence to adulthood at this point in my life as a 19 year old is exactly what I needed. Lawrence, you and Brian have done wonders for me with your content. Keep it up. Never stop.

I think you need to take the word Die out of the title or I'm pretty sure they will demonetize it as I saw a video the other day of words not to use and die was one of them, anyway see what happens

I honestly thought I was going crazy watching them talk about this. What she done was completely immoral and can not be condoned, however, based on what I watched he was borderline emotionally abusing her early on. Feels to me like it was almost like the perfect storm, 2 young adults who clearly needed help and unfortunately fell in to each other instead of someone professional.
