FYI, the Faber-Castell Polychromos are oil-based, while the Prismacolors are wax-based, so that may account for some of the differences you noticed in blendability.

I've heard you don't need to be so heavy handed with Polychromos, either, which could have been part of the blending issue. I look forward to trying them myself when I finally get our box in November. :-)

aquadonia I have the full set (craigslist can be amazing), and yeah, you definitely want to use a pretty light hand and go SLOOOOOOW to build up your layers (really nice, smooth build ups can take a few hours, so set your playlist or Netflix yo).

@@aquadonia My favorite pencils are the Polychromos. They are super blendable when they are used very, very light handed. I feel i can create way more depth with the Polychromos than the Prismacolors. I can put a darker color in between layers, they blend seamless when used light handed.

Btw, Microns always have a chance to smudge (especially with lighter colours). I'm not joking. I used to leave lines over night to dry and they still smuged. Microns are apprently not made to be used with alcohol-based markers. Now I'm just using polychromos for outlines since they "melt" with alcohol markers (aka they blend somewhat and you're left with a faint outline so you need to choose a pencil that's close to the marker colours you're going to use) and then either go in and do the lines with a proper line tool or if it's fitting I go over it one more time with Polychromos.

7:38 I actually have a 12 pack of the erasable colored pencils and I didn't even know I had them! 😂 They are very good quality (because they are PrismaColor) and erase very well (if you don't press hard like I do 😄)

Faber Castel may work better for the heavy handed artist. Just because PrismaColor pencils are wax based and very soft, arguably the softest. Faber Castel pencils are oil based and are blended differently but have much sturdier tips. :) Also most aare all light fast for up to 100 years!!

Wow! It's really neat to see this stuff done with some of the same materials I use for calligraphy! Tombow is one of the gold standards for brush tips that are affordable. That small black pen is my favorite for small letter detail or writing letters to people. The white pen is awesome for highlighting letters ! Very cool to see these across mediums

I haven't had the chance to try any of the alcohol based markers. But I absolutely don't know how I colored without both Faber Castell and Prismacolors lol they are both amazing and when used together you can get almost a thousand color variations (I didn't do that math, saw it in another comment). I have my first Gelly Roll, kneadable eraser, and mechanical pencil being shipped from Amazon. Just starting out, and I'd like to thank you, Jazz, Raedizzle, and Waffles for being such amazing mentors. You all not only help us along with our art but help us find what we want/need without breaking our banks. Many blessings upon y'all

Yeah! Im such a big fan of Faber Castel! I have like a 100 of their color pencils! And they are so cool! You can see my works in my instagram as "Luvice Cordero". All my drawings there are made 100% with Faber Castel, even the water color ones, made with watercolor pencils :3
