10+ years ago when I first started tuning my own stuff ppl swore the only way you could tune something was in open loop with a WB. Over the years I realized the narrow bands really do do a great job. You can do a pretty rowdy n/a setup completely on the street with the narrows then toss it on the dyno with a WB and hit all your targets at WOT without making any adjustments
@dalelockett2619Ай бұрын
Glad to see you again, Matt! You have no idea of how useful your tuning expertise w\ HPTuners has helped me w\ tuning my Ford Spanish Oaks ECU (a lot of Ford stuff is labeled the same as a lot of the GM stuff since HPTuners uses their same interface coding\software & uses the same type ID\labeling w\ calibration functions that do the same things across different platforms), so when you're teaching\guiding the GM folks, I've followed along looking thru the VCM Editor\Scanner & have ID'd all the same items for my Ford that do the exact same things thus has tremendously helped to properly & optimally tune her out. 👍👊 PS edit: Man I'm glad you said the part on how to setup & use the NB O2 sensors to fully tune out\calibrate your tune calibration if you don't have a WB installed yet (I got a Zeitronics ZT-4 Dual Channel WB Controller that I haven't installed yet so I'm working on it)........I built a Maths Parameter in VCM Scanner to use the running MAF lbs\min & the running fuel flow rate in lbs\min to then calc the running AFR & running EQ Ratio Lambda rates to then compare to the ECU calc'd EQ Ratio Lambda rate using the same fuel stoich AFR of the E10 91 oct fuel I'm burning to see where I'm at during OL PE or WOT.........as long as the MAF airmass calcs are good & accurate to Lambda 1.0 & the FI's, FI data & fuel pump delivery is good, like you've said, you can get very close to being on point if you don't have a WB yet.

Could you make a video explaining the important tables for tuning cam swaps? No one explains the numbers, what they mean, how to know whether to add or subtract etc.
@matt, your next video you put out can you show and do a break down on “transient fueling” how it works, how it effects, and when you modify it. There’s is little information on this topic and I’d love to know more about this please and thank you.

Great video as usual Matt 👍...That exhaust would do my head in haha ..to put bluntly that exhaust is dog shit ..That AEM wideband works great with the canbus as well as the old style seriel , It reads pretty accurately too, and yep i also have a ballenger too ,you are dead right "Learn to tune In Lambda" ..I've been tuning outside my normal job for 15yrs+ and yep if I did it full time I would get sick of it haha, plus doing it full time would take too much time away from my LS1 Turbo race car...But yeah Matt love your work big thumbs up 👍

Do you find that you need a bit of extra timing in the low rpm / low-mid load area with a cam? I have everything tuned in good, but the car is a bit of a pig in the 1500-2500 part throttle cruise area (using mostly stockish timing table on a C5Z06).

Hey Matt!! So a big thing in Australia is a “mafless tune” Completely deleting the maf sensor, I know it probably sounds like a very basic question but I can’t seem to find much info on specifically that? Everyone seems to use both and no one really tunes specifically mafless
@andresta1429Ай бұрын
In your compare at 15:24 in there's a highlight on inj vs temp. Do you have any recommendations on that particular area. I've adjusted my injectors from stock 42 lbs to fic 60s. Pulled the tables from fic but zero in regards to temp. My logs look great until the 200s (gen 4 E38 2009 ls3 auto. Added some boost ) then on the log back to the shop everything is running lean. What possible option are out in hp tuners that's gonna cut fuel back with the additional heat. Inj is ect has helped but feel as if there's something else dragging me backwards. Thanks in advance bud

when over ride with different os the ecms go into reduce power because only changes 7 out o8 bits of the ecm if im correct and hptuners dose not modify the last 1 or 2 bits or segments
@KnackersjewelsАй бұрын
Not really, they can write entire an OS just fine, it's just that HPT can't check that the OS you're flashing is actually compatible with module hardware. Like TAC motor hardware. An MDI with GM software will verify that the module is compatible before beginning a flash, if it isn't, it aborts the write
@manuelmurillo4027Ай бұрын
@Knackersjewels your correct it can write complete os on gen 3 and gen 2 p05 p59 and black box ecms but in the gen 4 platform no p40 e38 e67 e78 they will write but won't do all the segments might been only do 6 out 8 as hp only modifis those parts and not the last 2 and those are the tac data segments of the ecm ive been there tried it and I know to do a full write you need a sps2

Yeah OBS takes a ton of power to run and record live capture. Any dedicated GPU should make a huge difference. You don't really need a 4080/4090 for basic desktop capture a 4050 or 4060 variant will do fine. To be clear OBS uses GPU acceleration for recording.

Any chance you are running real time scanning on your anti-virus? That will can bring a Windows system down to it's knees depending on the "horsepower" so to speak. Is the laptop a dog elsewhere - or just in HP Tuners?

Hey Matt, in regards to your new Laptop, don't waste your money on an RTX Card inside. All you have to do is *STAY AWAY FROM AMD* (this coming from an AMD fanboy, but their Video Hardware Acceleration SUCKS). *Get an Intel based setup* , either 13th, 14th, or 15 Gen CPU/iGPU Combo and you will be set. It's not the video output that your system is struggling with, it's the Stream Encoding for Capture. Intel arguably have equivalent or better encoders built into their graphics processors, which are part of their CPUs on Notebooks, even when compared to Nvidia. Just be sure to enable "HARDWARE ACCELERATION" or choose "Intel QSV" or "Intel QuickSync" as your capture/stream accelerator using the H.264 Codec and you will be good to go. *ALTERNATIVELY* , double check your current settings to ensure that you have QuickSync or Hardware Acceleration enabled. Regardless, for something like HPTuners, Intel will do a better job than Nvidia for a fraction of the price, as it's ONLY Video Encoding/Decoding Acceleration that you need. As you said you are using a BETA version, ensure that it hasn't UNCHECKED 'Hardware Acceleration' after the software upgrade. Intel QuickSync or Intel QSV = Nvidia NVENC, but built as part of the ecosystem rather than an addin card that costs more. Just an FYI, hope this helps.
@joeyjojojr.shabadoo915Ай бұрын
Check your OBS Settings..... make sure to enable Hardware Acceleration and choose whatever you have available. OBS updates often screw this up and you need to reset it in your settings. Intel QSV or QuickSync and H.264 Codec for the stream. It looks like your CPU is doing all the heavy lifting and taking a beating..... just a setup issue my friend ;)
