Felipe's story was one of the most challenging documentaries I've filmed. His story is so complex and it has so many layers, that it became difficult to shorten it in less then 10 minutes. He’s a good sport for coming out with it and he can date women who are H.I.V positive just like himself...It’s their Tcells that they need to take care of to live a normal healthy life as long as he’s not out here spreading the disease but bringing awareness about it is fine in my book” Im not fond of folks with H.I.V bc I watched a group of people attempt to RUIN me with saying I had this disease to cover up for another individual. I feel no remorse for them at all bc they use this disease as leverage over others. They only pull the “They have H.I.V” card for sympathy and that boils my blood...I have met people with H.I.V and they are the most angriest folks I’ve ever met in my life. They HATE healthy people and dread their existence...I Actually RESPECT this guy bc he’s honest and I’ll respect other people who don’t make excuses. I remember going by a relative house and she was treating another relative so bad bc they had H.I.V and it bothered me but after my experience with seeing how EVIL they are and how they will go thru no bounds to spread their disease I have no remorse for none of them period 👌🏽

@@mehmeh7567 thank you for sharing. I don't think a virus makes a person necessarily mean. Maybe the people you've encountered were just rude, or maybe they had issues that they didn't know how to cope with. The thing is that there's mean people with or without the virus. Just because we have a bad experience with a group, it doesn't mean we should generalise it to everyone with a similar characteristic. We are all different, and that's what I try to show through this series. The best we can do is keep our mind open :)

I was raped and from somebody look sick and he has alot of medications and thanks God I whent to the hospital and I'm clean 🤲🏾 I been to the hospital they tested more than 3 months I'm ok and they tolde me I should call the police

I can't give you an advice on what to do, as I'm no expert in the area, but I would recommend you to call a sexual assault hotline from where you live to get the right support. If you search on google "sexual assault hotline [insert your country]", you'll be able to find it. I hope you get better.

He's a cool guy, you can tell from the start. Tough journey, but very strong of him to become proactive and work through his shit, it's not easy! But it's so worth it and the results show, he's a cool dude =D Also so cool he can so openly talk about his story, also the parts where he wasn't considerate of the consequence of his actions towards others. Admitting ones own mistakes shows strength! Because it's just as easy to blame circumstances and other people (which they are), but it's only up to yourself to change and move forward. He totally understood that the person he is now is very different from who he was before, because he learned from his own mistakes and experiences.

What a beautifully created video. I really loved everything about how you presented this story. I have to admit that I’m a little conflicted because while I know that Felipe was sexually abused as a child, I feel that he was completely wrong for withholding his status. I know that the person that reinfected him also lied but I think one of the worst things that a person with HIV can do is to willingly jeopardize another person’s health by not informing them of their positive status. I thought it was heartbreaking when Felipe said that his boyfriend infected him without him knowing and was extremely disappointed that he would go and do that to someone else regardless of his fear of losing him. Fear of rejection or loss never justifies infecting another person. I think it’s important to be honest and let them know so they can decide if they want to move forward in a responsible way. I think he’s brave for sharing his story but I also believe it’s important to hold him accountable and highlight how wrong he was for what he did.

I've asked that same question to Felipe at the time and the answer is what you saw, that he was in love and scared. However, what I realized is that he wasn't ''excusing'' himself when justifying his actions. We wasn't trying to take away the responsibility of his decisions, he was just sharing his feelings at that time. I think he's very aware of the consequences and morality of his past actions, and that's why there's such a growth from his past to his present. He now is in a relationship where he made sure he told the other person about HIV from the beginning. And I really appreciated his honesty in the interview you know? He wasn't trying to cover up, or trying to pretend he was politically correct. Instead he was honest and very aware of his past decisions, and that's the reason why now he acts so differently. I'm not trying here to ''defend'' Filipe. That's not my place. I think you raise a very good point, and a question that might arise to a lot of people, just like it did for me, at the time. I just wanted to share this extra layer that I might not be able to portrait properly in the video. Thank you so much for watching and sharing such a thoughtful comment.

However, please don't think you'll be single all your life (unless you want to be single, of course). I understand that having HIV might be limiting in some things, but having the virus doesn't define you and I'm sure you'll find someone that loves you the way you are.
