That makes you either an autistic or a scientist. True scientist knows that nothing is truly black and white and there are no absolute things in realitity. Mathematician can invent absolute abstract things but that's an exception allowed by not being limited by reality. Some things may have 100% (rounded) or 0% possibility of happening but that is different from "always" or "never" or "impossible".

I'm 40 and was diagnosed at 38. I told my mother she laughed and said oh don't be silly. Your not autistic. I told my sister and her response was do you really want to have autism, though? Growing up whenever I was "difficult" my family would say Carmen's just being Carmen. Translated Carmen is being an asshole let's ignore her. So naturally my relationship with my family is not great. Thankfully now I have a fantastic husband who is my greatest advocate.

Another insight of mine: I am not lazy, I am autistic. Well, of course sometimes I am lazy, but sensory overload is no laziness! Thank you for saying this. I'm 49 and recently self dx. I've baffled myself my whole life on how I can, on one hand, be a really hard worker and, on the other, be so "lazy" and get little accomplished. Now I realize I freeze when I get overwhelmed. Not lazy. Just overwhelmed. So I'm learning (slowly, I admit) that I have to break tasks into tiny parts in order to make progress and move forward. Still frozen and overwhelmed? Then I have to make those parts even smaller. Often, once the ball gets rolling, I surprise myself by getting much more done than I thought I would. But, I now know that I have to start with teeny tiny steps first. 🙂

@@marilynteed Hello there, I am the third generation of people in my family with Aspergers (genetics anyone?), I have a MA in counseling (educated on the subject), and I have five kids (so highly motivated to understand causes and contributors to symptoms). While environment and diet can make symptoms worse for those with Aspergers/Autism they are not the underlying cause. Autism is a neurological disorder. This is why people on the spectrum often have unusual responses to psychopharmaceuticals such as being hypersensitive or having no reaction whatsoever. The idea that an intestinal parasite causes severe, debilitating, neurological behavioral symptoms that affect all areas of social functioning is just absurd. As far as I can find out there are NO psychological symptoms associated with intestinal parasites other than feeling tired. One would also have to assume that every single kid who has Autism also happens to have a pediatrician who is so incompetent that they don't notice signs of intestinal problems which is equally ludicrous. My bowels are just fine and have been my whole life.

When I was in school, around 11-12 years old, the boys in my class decided to hold these polls during recess. “Who is the prettiest girl in our class, who is the nicest girl, who is the smartest...” everyone else (around 20 boys) answered the same and I was the outlier who answered every question differently. It was a weird experience but makes sense just like your example of chocolate vs vanilla example. I’m not sure if they had a similar concept of what’s pretty, or if they just followed the opinion of the first guy who said a name in each case. But it has baffled me. For nearly 30 years. I also got in “trouble” since the herd went on to tell the girls their opinion on class. “We think the prettiest girl in class is whoever, but Kokkonen said it’s this other girl”. So my opinions were shared verbatim which was kind of embarrassing. I hope the girls I singled out felt good about it. At least someone thought they were the prettiest, nicest, smartest...

@@marilynteed Autism is caused or exacerbated by inflammation. SOME cases may be caused by parasitic infection, but others are more complicated biochemical problems. When I get my allergies under control, I'm BETTER - but I dont think I'll ever fully understand the way 'normal' people react to things. Some respond well to anti-fungals (including me), some respond well to anti-seizure meds (like my friend's son, who actually had an undetected seizure disorder). Its just not that simple. i'm soon 32 and i just received my diagnosis two weeks ago, and while it is a huge relief to finally have a description of what is really going on, i've been so damaged by years of suffering that I see absolutely no way forward. I just got home from a 5 week stay in the psychiatric ward and I have no drive or ability to choose and stick to a mundane everyday task which leaves me paralysed in front of my computer, without the imagination or power to process even a simple tv show. these videos are the only thing that stimulate my brain enough without overloading me with information I don't feel is meaningful. hopefully I will regain some sense of agency and flow with time. I went through something similar. Diagnosed at 34. You just have to have patient with your self, realize your limitations and work within those bounds towards a small goal. For me it was getting my sleep schedule back on track. Once that is done i can look for some work. Keep in mind i could not work for 2 years because of events that led up my diagnosis and the aftermath of realizing how much of my life was lost due to misdiagnosis. But now i am at a point i want to find a job and work within my limitations. I know when i was where you were, it seemed i was in a fog unable to see teen feet in front myself emotionally. It will heal in time. These songs became my mantra during this period. It may not be your style of music as it is metal but the lyrics should be enough if metal isn't your thing. Killswitch Engage - In Due Time Killswitch Engage - Strength of the Mind I hope this helps. From across the world in Texas. You will get through this. I did.

Similar here too. I just got my diagnosis at 40, and feel like so much time has been wasted trying to fix something that wasn’t the problem in the first place and feeling guilty for not being able to fix it. I can finally forgive myself for all that, which is still a positive step. I still can’t work, and maybe never will be a to, but it’s no longer my “fault” like it was before. I’m still doing a major life process with my new lens of clarification, but that is a big thing to do too and I’m trying not to expect too much more than I can actually do in the mean time. Give yourself permission to be patient with yourself (easier said than done, of course). It’s actually a really big deal and a LOT of baggage to go through, almost like going through a dead loved ones things, it’s really hard, it takes a lot of physical, emotional, and mental energy. And it’s a process. It can’t really be rushed if you want good results later. 💕💕

@@tiiaj7589 my biggest problem is probably that I was also diagnosed with narcissistic traits, and as someone with exceptional talents in many fields I was "bound for success" my entire upbringing, so the fall is as high as it could have been, and it's so incredibly painful to have to process this disappointment in my fundamental idea of life, and also realise I have a lowered capacity to feel the things people in general take for granted and walk around and live more full lives of compassionate vitality. I am a great artist but absolutely tortured by the creative process and it has become a trauma in itself that thinking about art triggers panic attacks. without my calling i really have nothing. The bar is loud and smelly! And the floor of the bar is sticky! That’s gross my shoes stick and then when I get home I have to clean off my shoes because now my shoes are sticky and will stick to my floor, and make an extra mess that will require EVEN more effort and energy and cleaning from me so HOW was “going to the pub” as you called it even worth any of that! How is that not bothering everyone else! Truly! That is exactly the words I would use, and as you described other people are all it’s ok, it’s not that bad, or they seem to be able to just ignore it but it’s totally not something I can manage to easily ignore.

Liked the genuine unedited nature of this video! Made me smile. I also discovered it at the age of 31 and thankfully stumbled across your channel! Honestly you know what it is? it's like we've been experiencing gaslighting alllll this time (when our perception of reality is questioned) because we didn't know why we were different and to have our experience constantly dismissed becomes traumatic in many ways. Yes of course we can't blame the NT's for doing it because they don't know reality to be any different from their experience either. So it's like both sides are right in their own way, however one side gets to hear it because we are not the majority. So definitely definitely...it's very enabling and liberating when you can step into your truth and validate your own experience whether society chooses to accept you or not.

I’m 63 and a few months ago I discovered it’s very likely that I am autistic, Asperger fits the best. I never thought that I was crazy because I found out that I usually was a faster thinker than other people and I usually was right but I never knew why I was so different. It made me uncertain how to behave in the first decades of my life. I found out that two of my best friends are almost certainly also autistic. We always have the best and deep conversations. Now I found out that I have Aspergers it brought comfort in my brain. The search why I am as I am is over. Also, just take me as I am.

I noticed that once I started being openly autistic that lots of others privately came up to me telling me about their diagnosis or suspicions. You're so right about the need to feel understood, and I wish we lived in a world people felt they could be open about their autism and be comfortable being themselves. Trying to do my part at least.

"I wish we lived in a world people felt they could be open about their autism and be comfortable being themselves" Yeah...well, kinda tough to keep wanting to talk about being autistic or your autistic experiences throughout life, if people just keep ignoring you. Tried to write about my experiences on several autism videos...no response. And the fucking irony...I come here, look at ALL these comments, which resonate strongly with my experiences and the way I feel, and what do I see? Likes, replies...like, what the fucking hell is going on? I could write even the same fucking thing, and I would still be ignored. It doesn't make any sense. Oh, and don't get me wrong. I'm not always talking like I do right now. I'm just pissed that whenever I try to talk about my shit, there's dead fucking silence. _ANYbody_ else talking about their experiences with aspergers? A whole fucking train of sympathetic, emotional, motivational, funny comments/replies. I just wanna bang my fucking head into the table. It's borderline-driving-me-nuts. Just what the fuck. 😒🙄😣😞 I don't even have the strength to try and talk to people about autism anymore. It just feels like I was fucking cursed to burn and fucking rot all alone with this god damn retardation, or however I should call it. Cuz it's definitely not a blessing, and sure as fuck not a superpower, like one of the guys in the comments here stated. I guess I also "wish" autistic people could be open about their autism...but what's the fucking point, if we get to be picky about shit. Sure, I understand. Nobody _has_ to reply to anything. I get that, but if you try to talk for so long and literally NOBODY replies, you start to feel like you don't even fucking exist anymore. I saw a video of Samdy Sam (another autism channel) ...she talked about people who self-diagnosed and then she proceeded to divide people into "actually autistic"...I was like ...no fucking way. So now even autistic people discriminate against those who weren't able to get "properly" diagnosed? What a fucking crazy world. Like there's no way to find support or help in any way. It's just fucking nuts. Dunno what else to say. I'm tired of this type of bullshit and human hipocrisy. You can be autistic, but you cannot diagnose yourself cuz then you're not "actually" autistic...prolly making shit up, right? And...therefore...you don't belong to whatever fucking community, that painted itself on the forehead, to be supportive to X but not Y. Just blows my mind, really. Maybe I'm overreacting, but I'm just so fucking tiiiiiiired of being autistic, so worn out and tired of it, and all the problems it causes....so...so...tired of it (and since this shit is neurological...I can't even get rid off it, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay).😶 Just...fuck. Dunno what to say, cuz I've already said it a billion times silently to myself, since there was nobody willing to listen anyways, no matter where, no matter when. *Fuck* "Aspergers". It strongly contributed to ruining my life. -Oh, and if this comment is held for review due to bad language and negativity, and you (Aspergers from the Inside) decide to censor it... -_-no hard feelings-_- , I guess. We live in a world of censorship and politically correct bullshit afterall, right?- -Pain and frusration don't matter.- **edit** Since my comment was not censored, please disregard my pre-emptive remark. And thank you, Paul. I appreciate, you letting me speak my mind, using rough language.

@@riseandshinemrfriman5925 Hey. I hear you. It's definitely discouraging to be met with silence when you're having all of these experiences that affect you so profoundly. I've felt that same isolation at times, but it may not be just you. KZbin comments have algorithms that make certain comments seen by more people that they think will generate the most reactions. So it's really possible that your comments just get buried to where they aren't getting seen as much. Same thing happens on pretty much all social media. As for the the stuff about Yo Samedy, just remember that they're just people who have flaws and make mistakes. I know the video you're talking about, and it made me prick my ears up, too, honestly, but I'm inclined to let it slide just because I like a lot of the other stuff she has to say. Like you say, no one on the spectrum is exactly the same. It's neurodiverse, and I think that's why we need lots of perspectives to help people see that you can't treat all autistic people the same. Hang in there, my friend.

Yeeeeessss!!! Lol! My psychiatrist literally told me she felt she needs to point out that it's her professional opinion that not only I'm not crazy but that there's practically no chance I'll ever be crazy. She was like "stop saying you're crazy, you're just different, and you just need to find your tribe". Because i think in 7 years of seeing her the phrase "I'm crazy" came out of my mind so much, even after my diagnosis, that she just felt she had to shake it out of me.

Even though I am neurotypical, I can relate to what you are saying. With my husband having asd we live quite an isolated life as he has withdrawn from people. Due to our different ways of thinking I have felt like there is something wrong with my brain as he questions what I'm thinking or perceiving. Quite often saying I'm incorrect or making something up. It is difficult to feel sane when there are no like minded people around. I have learnt that it is perfectly alright for me to have a neurotypical life and that it's not betraying my husband to have a world I spend time in outside of our marriage. I wish he would reach out to like minded people as well. I think he feels very alone and misunderstood, I respect who he is and how the world runs for him, but I don't think it is enough for him to feel truly understood.

Cheers! And thank you and what else would fit in as being extremely great full. You channel has opened me up to a "slightly" new world (The world hasn't really changed at all fyi). Hadn't I stumbled upon your channel, I would never had known that my struggles to relate and understand people was rooted into autism. I am, as they would say, late to the party. Got my diagnosis just as I turned 37 (three months ago). I discovered your channel about a year ago, since then I've read up on autism and that just made the proverbial ball running downhill at a stupendously fast pace. I've always felt different to other people, and that, was made very clear to me when I enlisted into the military. That's when I had my first revelation on, that there is something going with me that doesn't conform the standard norm of society. Hated school but wasn't bothered when attending either. It was just a place I was supposed to be in, during a certain amount of time, during the day. Was always described as somewhat of an air-head, living in my own world and I should just get my head out of the clouds (that was putting it nicely). And since then, your videos has been a huge support for the understanding of myself and further development. Thank you.

Yes, though it could also be "only" one; the difficulty with early childhood trauma is that a lot of the symptoms are similar to a child's autistic telltales. So, to work through it you'd need a good therapist - ideally specialized in both - by your side. There definitely are autistic children growing up in bad circumstances though! (Perhaps they were even mistreated more due to their autism or couldn't deal with it in a way their siblings did... - so many factors to consider) Tl,dr: Yes, it's absolutely possible.

Ah the norms of the system, such hegemony only seeks to perpetuate itself. So many damned here meaninglessly, to not conform is not to partake in their worship of the cycle, an abomination that is the ouroboros. Their position though collected is not to be glorified, they are the causation of all unnecessary hardship, strife and suffering including our causation. It is a horrific self-consuming cycle best prevented.

I'm self diagnosed, now 44. Getting a diagnosis here where I'm from was too much of a hassle and cost for me a few years ago at least. But I'm glad I know for myself now. I had a boyfriend a few years ago who's on the spectrum also, and it was like coming home. For both of us. I'm really hoping to meet up with more people on the spectrum, but there aren't any meet-up groups like that here and I don't have Facebook, otherwise I would love to join! I'm just really glad I know for myself, and yes, I live pretty much like a recluse, even before covid. But thanks to studying spirituality, I've learned to love myself and not think less of myself because I understand that diversity is necessary for evolution :) I really chuckled at your trying to stay on topic or sticking to a script comment there lol, that's something I have to actively be conscious of all the time!! I'm from Brussels, but sometimes I wish I lived in the UK, just because of the access to more meet-up groups irl. You sound like you're from down under though, but not sure! 6:42-7:03 Jesus, this might as well have been a transcript of my train of thought. You just summed up most of biggest gripes that go through my mind when it comes to pubs or clubs. It was confusing enough that this was not only somehow enjoyable by virtually anyone to begin with. But somehow the go-to leisure and bonding activity starting from late teenage years, to top it off. I already thought the only option becoming an adult with a social circle rather than a reclusive with shallow acquaintances was to endure those 'evening rituals'. But that's not really maintainable if you keep draining yourself out socially (on top of studying) while others can recharge doing that.

I got diagnosed at a year ago, almost to the day, at 49 1/2. My Shrink asked me, "Has anyone ever told you that you are Autistic"? My reply to her was, and I am being 100% serious, "F*(k you, lady! You're Autistic"! I did not handle it well, obviously. I was not willing to accept it. I was truly angry, though I still do not know why. I guess the stigma of it bothered me? I am honestly not sure. I just know I was genuinely fighting mad with her. Do you know what I did after I walked out of that appointment, mate? Since I already spend a large amount of my free time on KZbin, I looked up "Late Autism Diagnosis" and found this channel. I watched your channel, and others, for 50+ hours straight, no joke. I got up for food/drink/bathroom breaks, but was otherwise up for almost 3 days straight from the morning of that appointment until I got too tired to keep watching yours, and others, Autism related KZbin videos. I could not believe what I was hearing and seeing in video after video. I could not wrap my head around hearing my thoughts, my struggles, my life, coming out of your mouth (and others). I am unable to properly articulate or express the emotional roller coaster that experience was for me. I still am overwhelmed with emotions now thinking about how much finding this information out has changed my life. Finding out I am Autistic has made my life at least make some sense to me now. I have felt alone, or as if I was an alien that got stranded on the wrong world, my_entire_life. I have struggled with people for as long as I have memories to access. That isn't to say I do no have friends; I do. Yet, until I met this amazing Mental Health Provider I have always, ALWAYS felt alone. I have never, ever made friends easy, nor do I have very many actual friends. I understand why now. That has been a blessing words cannot properly convey. I want to thank you for helping me come to terms with my Autism. I know there are so many, MANY more people out there struggling. I hope they can find your channel and get the same help I did here. I know I have waffled on for far too long, but I just want to so thank you very much for helping me come to terms with, and understand, my Autism. Cheers!

Around 50 I gave up on people. Now I understand my part in the world better after my ASD diagnosis. I am still alone but at least I understand why & it does not bother me now. I have tried to meet other ASD people but it depends where you live & Australia has a real problem with regional care. And it must be said some people with ASD can be full of prejudices like everyone else. Merry Xmas Man

A very useful video, thank you... I am not autistic but I still have some sort of reactions that people don't understand- I have to sleep alone (even though I am married), I unintentionally jump to even a slight touch (for example because of an unintentional touch in a public transport or even when it comes from the loved ones), I get tired after spending time in a group of known people, some noises make me nervous (eg if someone is eating close to me and many more). It's good to know that I am not an alien ☺

No, because I've taken diatomaceous earth as a mineral/ detox supplement for YEARS. It does NOT cure Asperger's. Period. It "may" help if a person wears a helmet and diapers, and slaps their head for hour's. Dr Batar, a well known toxicologist has helped people with really bad full blown autism get back some of their mental function with chelation therapy that pulls heavy metals out of their system, like mercury and aluminum. Others on this site have responded to you that they've tried MMS and it just damaged them in other ways. So Stop telling EVERYONE commenting on this video that you know a cure for Asperger's. You don't know what you think you know. You're leaving that comment on every comment like your on a sales mission. I think Asperger's is part genetic disposition, (marked by higher intelligence) coupled with an early exposure to artificial chemicals and heavy metals when the brain is developing. The heavy metals break down neural connections as they try to form in a neurotypical format, forcing the brain to wire around the damaged areas. Welcome Asperger's, ADHD. That's my theory. Even if we clear out toxins and heavy metals, the brain wiring (pathways) are formed. Detox won't change this

My father always told me when I was behaving out of the usual way of doing things: "Don't behave like that, or you'll never find friends." He never told me that it was wrong or that I was being weird - he taught me how to mask. I guess because he is masking himself. I'm glad, though, that I was always loved and accepted the way I am - so I never had to learn how to mask heavily. I don't think I would be able to. I'm too honest, stubborn and straight-forward. I could never defy myself. In the end, I guess that saves me. :) You are great the way you are! The world would be less interesting without the weird, strange, "crazy" people.

I have been following your channel for a few months, and it has helped me realize that I am probably autistic. The comment about people just following their instincts reminded me of a recurring conversation I have with my wife, who is very much neurotypical. When I don't understand what she or someone else is doing, I always say that they are following some sort of internal logic that I just don't understand, and if I could only see their logic then I could understand why they do or say what they do. My wife and I have never been able to understand each other on that point.
@Mrs.Silversmith
@Mrs.Silversmith 4 жыл бұрын
The truth is they aren't following any internal logic. That's what Aspies do. NT's function more on instinct and intuition, ie processes their brains do automatically because it seems "right" and "natural". If you ask them to explain any of the myriad of social skills they have picked up intuitively they can't give more than a vague, ephemeral reason because they have often never thought about those behaviors in a systematic, logical, or objective manner.

Talk about synchronicity! I woke up during last night and remembered a time when I was isolated from a working group; I was a museum volunteer many years ago, drawing artifacts for recording purposes and the other artists and myself worked in a lovely, large room with trestle tables and lots of light. I absolutely loved it and seemed to get on with everyone. But then one day I was told that the department was changing and that we were being moved to another part of the building. I was put in a small, dark office with an unfriendly bloke who seemed to resent me being there, and for some reason I was allergic to something there too, causing streaming eyes & nose and constant sneezing. Everytime I went out to use the facilities I had to get someone on the front desk to phone the bloke so that he could escort me back and key me through the security doors, which didn't improve matters, lol. I got really anxious under those circumstances and eventually stopped going to the museum. The weird thing is that no-one else was moved and it didn't even occur to me to wonder why; things just used to wash over me then and it isn't until much later that I realise what was going on...in this case, 20 years! Anyway, when I woke up I was really upset about it and spent some 'hour of the wolf' time awake, wondering why I was moved. :(

We all did but I failed to explain it, so it could have been just a matter of security...if that was the reason! lol.
