Hey everybody, in regards to the clay pot, when Keith found it he immediately got in touch with the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities, sent them pics, and had them do some mapping and dating. We did everything by the book! No ancient relics were harmed or stolen in the making of the video! 😊

Scammers are everywhere. I've run into them camping on BLM lands. "This is a pay campsite." or "This is a private camp." With the line, "Since you're already set up, and I wouldn't want you to breakdown camp, I'll give you a discount on the cost." I just ask them for ID, for my records on where I'm spending money, and every time it's, "I'll let it go this time. But remember next time you'll have to pay." "Full price"

So interesting and fun. The exuberance of youth makes me tired watching. Thankfully y'all had the insight on the boat wanting to collect a toll. Be safe ✌

It wouldn't be Sailing Zatara - without Keith making an inappropriate (but funny) joke. Everyone was waiting for him to make a comment - but you killed the moment with your editing.

The opening sequence - was like a situation we found (my dad and brother) in Lake Powell back in 1986. We followed a snake canyon for a couple of miles until it was too narrow to go forward and too narrow to turn around - but we we in a 25 foot ski boat - and it was very hard to back it up when it was so tight - so we used our hands on the red rock walls to push us backwards. Lifetime memory.

I don't think I would have slept well knowing those scammers were out there and there didn't seem to be many other boats around. That was intimidating since there were so many full grown men. Are cruisers trained how to deal with this? Can help get there quickly if something more aggressive happened?

Be careful what you take out the water and try leave Egypt with! They have protected seas, I know for flying in on holiday. A friend took sea shells to take home and was collared at the airport and fined!

There is a dive site in the Gulf of Aquaba that has sunken tanks. THAT would be interesting to see. They were sunk to build a dive reef by the King of Jordan.

Regarding the pottery, you are not allowed to move it from its location and you are advised to report it to the relevant authorities. You never know, you may have found an ancient shipwreck. I am not an expert on ancient Egyptian pottery but that is typical of pottery dating back to the Bronze Age. Additionally, yes they used a wheel to make the pottery from ancient times. Also bear in mind that if it is a shipwreck it may not necessarily have been an Egyptian vessel but one that came from a trading partner. Having said that, such amphorae may still be in production to this day so some more investigation may be necessary. You may wish to send a picture to the department of antiquities in Egypt as they should be able to estimate its age by looking at it. It would be wise to make a note of the co-ordinates for future reference. Incidentally, the guy at 10:49 looks like a legit Bond villain.

I have excavated pottery in Jordan and that looks similar to the middle bronze age. I'd turn it over to someone in antiquities as some countries forbid taking artifacts. As for the yacht beggars, how annoying! As much as I love Egypt, they are the worst for scams and touting! I finally had to rudely say, LA SHUKRAN! (no thank you!!!) ignore and walk away. Good for you on standing your ground!!
