The KZbinrs who made videos that they're returning (or have returned) their Vision Pro came across as someone who were never going to keep it as it was an expense that they probably couldn't afford. It wouldn't surprise me if that was a bulk of the overall return. People who really couldn't afford one but still wanted to try one out.

That happens sometimes with tech content, people will buy a product and shoot videos and then return it for a trivial reason. However there are some people who genuinely didn't like it or it wasn't worth it for them. It is a hefty price, and I cant completely fault anyone who believes that its not worth the money. I just really enjoy mine and have not thought once about returning it. Still happy I was able to get a 1TB model

@@TrentonsTech To me, it just seem tacky when KZbin reviewers do it intentionally, especially channels that should have more than enough viewership that the content they've produced from the item along with the tax write off implications should just about cover the cost, not to mention the continued coverage of the product like this that will continue to get software updates and evolve. Too many of the ones I saw cited the price as their reason. They're cheating not only Apple but their viewers. The return system of the various outlets are there for consumers who aren't satisfied, not for generating clicks. If enough people abuse it, ultimately, consumers lose out.

Umm it's not just KZbinrs, but regular consumers/prosumers who can afford it are returning it. Have you not seen the articles? If you like it, great! Keep it! No one is stopping you, but the FACTS are out there baby, and AVP is a disappointment. I've been in this industry for 8+ years now and the reasons are totally valid. It is just the first iteration of Apple's entry into this game. FYI, I am a VR/AR game developer and this device is a fantastic piece of hardware, so no arguments there. However it's just not for gamers. I think the massive disappointment is the lack of controllers. Not saying that the UI, hand tracking, and eye tracking are not the best in the industry, but not being able to port content to utilize its high fidelity hardware is a huge disappointment. I was looking forward to it, but it didn't deliver what the devs needed for game development. Sorry, but I'll wait for AVP 2, and hopefully Tim introduces some form of haptic interface to engage with the Virtual world.

@@dimsomenuts Yes, I've seen the articles, most of which seem to be echoes. I didn't buy one, I don't buy the 1st generation of anything tech. I've seen enough products come to market to know you wait for at least the 2nd generation. I had high hopes of getting into VR/AR when Oculus showed up on the scene, that became a disappointment when Facebook bought them, 10 yrs of wasted potential. People went in knowing full well this was a 1st gen product and things like the APP ecosystem isn't there and probably won't be for months to years. People also went in knowing that gaming wasn't the focus of Apple for this device. The comfort aspect seems to be a mixed bag, there are people who were able to comfortably use it while others just couldn't no matter what they did. This is nothing new though, comfort has always been a hit or miss with headsets of this size. I don't think the majority of the people who said they returned them were going to keep it, period. Price, most of them pointed at price somewhere in their reasoning. They might have been about to afford to buy it, it doesn't mean they could afford to keep it. If the price is anywhere in someone's calculus for a return, they really couldn't afford it. Even though they might have rationalized their way over the price hurdle to make the purchase, they knew going into this what it cost. There was also a segment, gamers, who really had no reason to buy it to find out it's not a focus of the device. If they didn't know this going in, that's just ignorance on their part. People who found out their biology just wasn't capable with VR/AR headsets was one that I saw as a legitimate reason for return. Most of the other reasons, either the people just were oblivious to all the discussions since last June, or they just thought they could push through any faults, but just found they couldn't. AKA, hardcore Apple fanboys. Price, comfort, App ecosystem, these were all things discussed in length and somehow still were common excuses.

This is an amazing, honest video. I love the fact that you attacked this from a consumer perspective. You and I spoken before on the live stream, and I’ve been doing VR for a really long time and I have some really amazing points about the Apple Vision Pro. It’s going to get a little long-winded, so I’ll send that as another comment. But there is absolutely no comparison between the two devices. One is an Xbox replacement, and one is an iPad/Mac replacement. That’s the way Meta and Apple have marketed their devices. And they both are correct.

For me it works great with the Apple Products that I already have and the immersive experiences are the best thing Ive ever seen. There is always a "but you can get this instead" conversation no matter what you buy in tech. This works great for me and I cant wait to see what else Apple brings in future updates.

0:30. There are 500 apps and games for MQ3, and that software library represents a decades worth of Meta's extreme efforts to put together. Apple's headset has just had its two week anniversary today (2/16/24), and it has 1,000 VisionOS native apps (double MQ3's library), and over a million compatible iOS apps. I bet within a year the number of VisionOS native apps 10x's, and the number of MQ3 apps doesn't even double. I also bet that within a year that VisionOS itself is night and day better, and that the MQ3 OS hasn't improved by more than maybe 20%. Additionally, I bet within six months, that third parties have completely solved AVP's comfort issues. On top of that, within a year, I bet that even though people may not be able to afford the AVP, there won't be any more talk about how the MQ3 is just as good for a 1/7 of the price.

AVP is a different approach to "computering". The quest is a gaming device. Gaming computers have always existed alongside other devices. When you get used to the concept of spatial computing you can't go back.

Most of those returning the Vision Pro were KZbinrs who only got it for the views it would generate on their channel. They had no intention of keeping the Vision Pro. They knew they would generate an enormous amount of views for ooening reviewing and then returning the Vision Pro. It is sad that those who genuinely wanted the Vision Pro couldnt get it because of these KZbinrs.

My opinion on VR is that it is best suited for immersive experiences that transport you to a different reality. I do not find much value in using VR for mundane tasks like reading emails, browsing maps or viewing photos. I think those can be done more comfortably without a headset on. I enjoy VR when it allows me to interact with other people in a virtual environment, such as a movie theater or a game. However, I also feel that VR content is still limited and often low-quality. I do not see VR as a mainstream product, but rather as a niche one. Regarding Apple's VR headset, I think it is too expensive for what it offers. I do not think it is worth buying a first-generation device that has little content to support it. I would rather spend my money on something more useful. This is just my personal preference.

I returned mine yesterday evening. For nearly all people, I would recommend the 256GB model if you utilize iCloud Photo Library. It really is like an iPad. Both my iPad Pro and Vision Pro were only utilizing about 75-80GB max. I don't see most people going over 256GB ever. It IS NOT a Mac where you keep all of you data, files, etc and you actually benefit from 1TB+ storage.

I love my Vision Pro. In my opinion, must people didn’t understand what it’s and what will become. First, if you don’t have Apple devices don’t make sense to buy it at the first time. Even if Vision Pro can run by itself because is a computer too. But the extraordinary thing that has is the ecosystem. People makes a lot of excuses to return it like: weight, battery, comfort, and other things that normally happen in all first generation devices. Must of the things that bother me like: Lack of pin the windows to your body area and move them with you, visible keyboard scanning (like hands) when we use full immersive environments, ability to have more gestures commands that active/desactive some functions when needed without use the crown. All this things can and I’m pretty sure added in software updates. This device is PRO and that means that Apple is projecting a long life product. I’m so excited for what is coming like SharePlay that is present already in the SDK of VisionOS for example. ❤🎉
