As a Czech person from Prague it is so sweet and cute to see people being so much in love with my city. When u live here, you sometimes start to forget and think of the beauty of the city as a daily life thing, but these videos make me realise how lucky I am to live in this wonderful city of love and beauty. Then when i walk to school or something I always admire the beauty of it.

4:23 Fun fact: the word bohemian also originates from Bohemia. People in France believed Gypsies are coming from Bohemia, so they called them Bohemians. And artists often compared themselves to Gypsy lifestyle, so the word changed meaning.

I had heard it was very nice, but I didn’t expect it to be so perfect at every corner. Like really, walking there was like being walking inside some piece of historical art.

Prague is a wonderful place, my favorite. The Czech Republic, or Czechia, is in CENTRAL Europe. It is a jewel box of architecture. It isn't pretentious but has old world sophistication and modern sensibilities. There are several opera companies and lots of classical music orchestras and groups, however, modern music of all sorts abounds. Any cuisine you wish is there. It is the very center of Europe so many influences passed through there. Read more about Czech history. If you are Irish, I think you might find some interesting parallels in common in what they have endured because of aggressive neighbors. BTW: The nutria are not native. BTW, the language is Slavic, bit more than half of the long-term Czech families are not genetically Slavic at all because the majority is on the eastern borders. One of the oldest Celtic sculptures in the world, the Mšecké Žehrovice Head was found north of Prague. The oldest wooden structure in the world, a well, was found a few years ago. Go to Brno, Czeska Budějovice, Karlovy Vary and many of the other splendid cities and towns.

I’m someone who has this love for Eastern European in terms of the architecture. I think because Eastern Europe is so old, and the architecture was built way before America became America….plus some of the architecture housed royalty or some form of royalty so it gives off this fairytale and medieval vibe. During Christmas however it’s even more magical especially with the lights.

mostly german-influenced culture/language and architecture tho, we have in fact not much in common with eastern europe and especially russia. we could have been liberated by americans(they were told to stop in Pilsen even though they would be in Prague way faster) and we would have no soviet/warsaw pact history whatsoever.

I agree with you, though I have to warn you about using the term "Eastern Europe", as we are extremely touchy on that.. That we were for 41 years occupied by the USSR doesn't erase the fact, that we were for about 1000 years part of the Holy Roman Empire, with Prague being the official seat of many Emperors... We even have mentally nothing common with the Eastern Europeans except of Ukraine, which we are one of the biggest supporters.. We, I mean Czech republic, Poland and Slovakia preffer to being called Central Europe.. Thanks for your understanding...

Hi a lovely video of my hometown, though sadly I have to tell you, that you've seen barely 2% of what Prague has to offer - Prague has been rated as "the worlds most gorgeous city" in 2021 and that for a good reason.. Things you must explore: the Jewish quarter, which is the best preserved Jewish heritage in whole of Europe, as Hitler wanted to create it as a reminder for the "extinct race"; gorgeous parks with insane views all over the city (Prague is the greenest capital in the whole world, with 57% of its area covered in greenery); public parks with peacocks (literally); Prague ZOO (rated constantly as the 4th-5th best in the world) and the neighborhoods, such as Vinohrady, Žižkov, Karlín, Hradčany, Nový svět (translated as the "New world", though it consists of adorable houses of the Prague castle servants from the 14th and 15th century) and many many other things... If you'd be interested, let me know, I can show you all the hidden places - free of charge of course...

I lived there from October 21 to November 15 in 2023. I was walking in the city in a black coat, smoking cigarettes, listening to Cocteau Twins and hiding in the trams when it was too rainy. It was the most melancholic time in my life. The city is the object of reverence and love for the rest of my life... But I watched your video till the end and I think you didn't understand Prague, you are consume oriented. People of your kind and mass tourism will one day ruin the city. Im sure you haven't read a single page of Kafka or Rilke, even though you like to sit on a bench with a fake notebook.
@TomasGraf-rr6coАй бұрын
Spot on. Prague is becoming a soulless backdrop of tacky tourist traps, overpriced restaurants, and shops selling Chinese junk that is disguised as souvenirs. It's kind of a Disneyland with masses of tourists,m vloggers, and influencers milling aimlessly around. The Prague of past with it's melancholic and genuine atmosphere is long gone. I miss that Prague.
