When I was a kid my Grandpa and Uncle caught a 450# halibut fishing out of Ketchican AK in a 2-person John boat with a 50# test line. Turned into an epic "Old Man and the Sea" battle that took them until way after dark. They had to tie the fish to the side of the boat and club it unconcious to be able to row back in. The picture I have on my wall shows my 6ft 8in Grandpa standing next to the hoisted fish on the dock and it's a good foot taller than him.

been following for a year or so, give or take. Enjoy your calm demeanor compared to others that tend to a fair bit of hyperbole (just enthusiastic expression of their fun, but I'm older now and suddenly calm celebration is, well, less exhausting... hehehe). Your vids really represent what fishing has been to me in my life. Like golf, fish with a person for a day and you will learn exactly what sort of person you're dealing with...i know you are a kind hearted man. It's bound to influence many out there young & old. Last thing... I love wakame salad. It's different to find restaurants or Asian markets offering versions which are not just sugar delivery devices. It would be fun if you could make up some from freshly harvested wakame. Then to see your recipe as you serve it with your catch. We can enjoy the taste & texture vicariously over YT. OK, I'm just addicted to it. So much so I'm teaching myself how to make it the right way...i hope I am anyway. Keep the great stuff coming and thank you.

Taku, without Joceline, having huge grilled fish alone at night🤔... ah you are in the dog house are you Taku?😏 Just to share a bit, having bits of fish stuck on the grill is something that many of us hate. It makes the fish presentation looks bad and we missed the crunchiness of the most outer layer. Having an extra layer beween the grill and the fish is really helpfull to prevent it happen. You may use aluminium foil, but it is such an unnecessary waste. People in the tropicals use banana leaves, coconut leaves or taro leaves, but for those who lived in the cities or subtropicals might have difficulty to find such leaves. You can use cabbage, mustard greens, chinese cabbage, basically any kind of broad leaves vegetables with neutral taste, or corn husk. It slows down the burning of the outer layer and prolonged the heat delivery time, the moist also helps to provide steam, thus the meat will be better cooked.

OMG yes. 💮I'm from Oakland. When the pandemic first happened and nobody was around, the aquatic life returned back to normal. (Live next to the water.) My neighbors were catching Halibut right off the dock. It was pretty awesome. I loved that period of time, no lie. Even crickets and frogs came back for a minute. 🥲
