Number of reps and sets depends on what we are training for, endurence, strength building or muscle building. So I think there is just no point in discussing random people's posts talking about their peosonal experience of what is best. As for what is best based on scienctic research, I think postcasts by Andy Galpin, Peter Atia and others sums up more or less everything.

I think there is a lot of point in discussing this. First of all this is not somebody's personal experience. This is a post made "to educate people" and it clearly says that keeping 1-3 RIR is better than going to failure. Second of all no matter what you train for, strength, hypertrophy or endurance, going from 10 reps with a weight to 5 reps with the same weight doesn't make sense, especially not in 2 sets. Third, science is often misapplied or just not useful in general when it comes to training. A lot of studies aren't well controlled and are made on complete beginners who can't estimate how many reps they kept in reserve. A lot of people recently started going more towards their own way instead of just blindly following whatever science says and saw success with it. More and more people are coming forward and saying "I don't give shit what science says, going to 0RIR from my experience works better than 3RIR" and I think that's a good thing. While I do still think science is useful, I go more towards experience based lifting as that seems to work better for me and for a lot of others as well.

Do you guys usually train to failure or keep reps in reserve?
